Following the rumours of the Desert Wolf to Beacon Hills was a given; Isidore never ignored a possible lead when it came to her estranged — very estranged — cousin. Though all her attempts to corner the coyote up to this point have proven unsuccessful, they were not all completely without their usefulness. There was something left behind in each place Maria had visited, a small signature and a window into her mind that Isidore did not forget. In fact, every possible assassination that bore that signature was jotted down in an encrypted notebook that Isidore was never without. Of course, it was impossible to prove her cousin was behind the majority of them, though the hunter had strong enough reason to believe she was. Either way, it gave her an idea of the kind of person this mark of hers was if she could judge Maria based on the types of jobs that she took. Her arrival in the sleepy and utterly forgettable town had been uneventful as expected. It seemed as if not much could really pique the interest of the quiet town, even the arrival of someone so flashy as herself. Though she had been rather disappointed, Isidore had turned that unhappiness into motivation and she began to dig through recent news reports. It had been almost impossible to see past articles about the recent house fire that had occurred on the thirty-first but when she managed to wade through it (while making a note of the incident in her book), she discovered a string of what had been called "animal attacks" on a number of students of the local high school. That drew her attention and Isidore saw a lead in those stories that she would be stupid not to follow up on. Going through all the proper channels and making all the official arrangements, Isidore booked herself as a guest speaker at the local high school. As a dignitary and employee of the Mexican embassy, Isidore enjoyed her relative freedom in moving around the United States and very frequently made use of the benefits awarded her through that position. This was the first time that she had used it to pull strings for entrance into a high school, but there were first times for everything she supposed. Arriving early, she checked in with the office and allowed the rather somber and homely secretary give her a small guided tour of the relevant areas of the school pertaining to her visit — namely the auditorium and the nearest bathroom — before laying down a few policies and rules. All the while, Isidore nodded and smiled politely though she hadn't wasted energy to actually listen, let alone commit any of it to memory. After a small, droning eternity, Isidore was allowed time alone to set up her presentation in the auditorium. Finally alone, she quickly installed remote controlled high-frequency emitters around the room. Their control was hidden expertly in the powerpoint clicker she carried, which would allow them to be discreetly activated during the presentation. Once the appropriate set up was completed, Isidore changed, ever extravagant for a woman who always kept a handgun on her at all times. Soon, the students began to file into the room and the vice president met with her backstage, throwing around useless small talk as they waited for all the seats to be filled. Isidore was a patient enough woman but listening to his babbling would have gotten on her last nerve if it wasn't cut short by the cue of one of the faculty members. Walking out onto the stage following her introduction, Isidore took to the stage to deliver her carefully written speech, eyes always scanning the crowd for any reactions to the sudden high frequency bursts that she triggered. She herself would discreetly wince in response to them though she couldn't actually hear them to give the impression that she did. The movement was nearly imperceptible, though the more eagle- (or should she say, wolf-) eyed amid the crowd would likely pick up on it. - - - The speech had concluded without a hitch and she had agreed to remaining behind in the lobby to speak with the students following the presentation. Of course, she had her ulterior motives of seeking out anyone who had caught her eye though she was more than happy to remain in the spotlight for at least another hour or so. |
