the one thing about here that I enjoy is the seasons. back in Chicago, we didn't get to see the leaves change, much. It has been a delight to run around on all four legs and breathe in the crisper air. I am so grateful to get to enjoy these things.

I know there are a lot of holidays and exciting things in May for most people around here. This year there's something for the local Muslims, too.

Lunar calendar. Ours change a lot.

Starting at sundown this coming Sunday, we'll all be observing the holy month of Ramadan. Which means we'll be fasting. There's only the three of us but that can actually make it harder so on behalf of my very small congregation I'd like to ask everyone to be patient if we get a little hangry.

So I sort of missed someone asking a question about magic staying magic the other day and instead of just looking it back up I figured I should put up an FYI about me for all the newer people.

I'm what's called a null. I turn off magic. It isn't something that can be turned off so supernatural creatures and magic beings turn human around me, spells break and the more you piss me off the bigger the area of effect is.

I bartend at Verdant so when people need a spell broken or just want to be able to get drunk when they can't usually because they heal too fast, werewolves mostly, they come drink with me.

Being kind of an antisocial bitch isn't part of being a null it's just me, sorry.

It took me a few days, almost a week, to wrap my brain around the idea of having a kid.

I...

It's something I've always wanted. Growing up I wanted nothing more than to be successful and a mother. And almost four years ago now, that dream was torn to shreds. Werewolves, from my home, we can't have children. It's impossible. Even human women who are mated to werewolf men, almost always lose any pregnancy.

This place is one part cruel and one part wonderful for gifting me with a child, even for the short time. Somewhere, someday, in some version of our worlds, I live up to my dream, and that's comforting too.
