While I may, or may not, see the value in a day set aside to celebrate loving and caring someone, I am not sure I agree to the need to purchase any and all sundry items as a way to do so.

In fact, I have not yet figured out the great call or lure of the romance novel. Nor do I understand why a display of them is necessary. Or why I am being asked to select them. Not the kind of responsibility I would expect having to work in a book store. I think I shall choose based on color. I like green. Therefore if the cover of the book is mostly green, it works on the display.

I do believe the idea of such a display, regardless, is not all that needed as part of a celebration of such a holiday. Perhaps I shall also make a display for those who detest such things. Thoughts for that?

I heard there was another round of speed dating this weekend. What sort of trouble did you lot get up to? Though the city remains standing so it could not have been that horrid.

Though thinking of such things makes me remember the fact that there is this horrendous holiday of Valentines coming soon. I have the odd desire to recreate a scene from my years at Hogwarts and employ cupids. I could just imagine the chaos. Of course there is no Weasley and Potter to embarrass so what fun is that?!

Again, I oddly find myself missing Hogwarts at this time of year. Though, there is little I can count as fond memories, this is probably the most beautiful time of year - with the snow and the lake frozen. There were good moments - not many, but some. Perhaps better than being at home.

Though at the same time, I suddenly find that I am content here. How did that happen? Maybe it is a sign that I drank far too much of whatever potion that makes muggles so content as they are.

Or that I am not drinking enough alcohol.

Thanksgiving is such an interesting muggle concept. Or perhaps I should say American muggle tradition. I don't think it is wrong to celebrate things you may be thankful for, but it appears to be more of a day to over indulge on food more than anything else.

It is merely an observation, of course.

On the other hand, I did get a nice break from university. So that I will accept with gratitude.

It was... well, there is much I could say in my defense while at home and under duress, but here, there was little excuse. So I do apologise. This weather is far looking towards the more pleasant and the cooler aspect is appreciated. The heat of the summer here has been far too oppressive. Taking courses has been quite enjoyable on the other hand. I would not have had the opportunity to do such a thing at home and so it is an enjoyable change to actually be learning something of my interested. Muggle history is fascinating indeed. Yes, I did just say that. And while not under any compulsion.
