Since it appears that I am not going to be leaving any time soon, I suppose that I am in need of a job.

I am a detective inspector, homicide division, originally from Melbourne, Australia. It seems that the local precinct is not doing any hiring of so called refugees, and they found it especially amusing that I am from 1928, a veritable antique who is not in line with the contemporary methods of doing things.

I suppose that if I am going to stay in this field, I would have to go into private investigation. That would be my preferred job choice, but I am open to other options.

I haven't ever been away from my family on New Years. Working, sure. But never like this. Never by choice, and certainly not like this.

I missed Sunday dinner last night, too. I don't know if this is a dream, a nightmare, or some mucked up reality, but I don't like it. I'd like to go home to my wife and kids now, thanks.
