Hey folks,

What is the general consensus about the mac mini w/Superdrive?

What do I need to be concerned about? What are the best monitors to get with it?

Thanks!

As long as you don't plan any RAM upgrades, Mini's are fine. I have one here.

A Monitor is a very personal thing. You'd have to look at a few to see what your eyes is comfortable with. I'd stick to flatscreens just for the space saving angle.

Just like [info]blktauna said, upgrading RAM is a thorny issue with Minis. Like most of these things, it depends on what you need it for or want to use it for. Make sure to get as much RAM in it upfront as you can afford if you know you're going to run Leopard on it AND do intensive stuff-- Leopard is RAM-hungry like no man's business, and combined with stuff like picture or video editing and the like, it probably wouldn't run as snappily as you'd like if you had only about 1GB of memory or so (which I *think* is what comes with Minis standard).

As for monitors, check out www.newegg.com's huge selection, and take care to browse through reviews; after you narrow things down by price/specs, it's a good bet that the best-rated product is something you can rely on especially if there are lots of comments, and most of them are positive. If you pick one, do check out if it has connectors (or will come with the ones you need) that will hook up to your Mini without any problems. The complete specs page for the Mini is here if you need it.

Good luck with your choices! Hope it works out ;)
