Leiah O'Rourke Name: Leiah O'Rourke Nickname: Age: 17 Birthplace: Dublin, Ireland Sex: Female Occupation: Student, sometimes sings. Has money from folks.
Appearance: When it comes to height Leiah is an average 5'5 but that is about all that is average about her. With deep mocha hued hair that (when not straightened) falls in a natural riot of curls to the backs of her elbows and crystal clear sapphire eyes Leiah gives tribute to her Irish heritage. Her bright smile is effortlessly and usually in place making her cheeks dent with deep dimples that only add to her youthful, fresh look. Leiah's skin is smooth, if a little on the pale side and like most teenagers she is cursed with the occassional pimple but knows that she could have a lot worse.
When it comes to clothes Leiah loves her jeans and brightly coloured, trendy tops. It's also normal to catch her in skirts and dresses depending on her mood of the day. If it's trendy, colourful and has a flare of the unique Leiah will no doubt love it and want it.
Personality: Bubbly and vibrant Leiah can light up a room with her vivid smile that never seems far from her face. It is clear that she loves life and everything in it as she believes that sweating the small stuff will only kill her sooner. That's not to say she doesn't have her down days where she's just miserable but it usually takes quite a bit to get her that way - or at least a lot on her mind. Aside from her cheerful, carefree ways Leiah does possess the Irish temper that can turn her into a wicked firecracker if you cross her path from the wrong direction or cross any of her friends or family. She is fiercley loyal to those she cares about and is known to be trustworthy and stubborn. Sweet and outgoing Leiah has a small wild streak in her that can flare at any given time and has often, when coupled with her curious nature, gotten her in quite a few hot spots.
For everything that she is Leiah can still be caught curled up on a couch with a book in hand or studying for an upcoming exam just as much as she can be found at the park or mall with friends.
Special abilities/talents: Leiah is a talented singer and guitar player. Supernatural Affinity: Species/Group: Human Power(s): Telekenisis Level: Right now Leiah's powers are at a Level 2 but she has just started realizing she has powers so it is possible that this could go up.
History: Born in the backseat of the family van on a hot summer day Leiah Rose O'Rourke made her impatience known at a young age. The youngest of five children Leiah knows chaos, noise and what a full house is like - it is what made her who she is and she loves it. With five older siblings looking out for her in Ireland's back yard Leiah grew up with a semi-sheltered life that didn't lack affection or laughs as the house was full of both. Being the youngest Leiah was the more spoiled of the siblings but amazingly didn't seem to let it get to her head. By the time she was 7 one of her favorite pasttimes was playing referree to her siblings fights when she was not involved in them. As time went by she learned more and more from her family but started gaining outside sources from her friends - not all of which were good.
When she was 15 Leiah hit a hard patch as her more wild nature started to emerge and seemed to only be fed by the outcast of friends the once sweet and still naieve girl had fallen into. Her personality took a dramatic twist from loveable to brat as she started staying out late without calling, drinking and causing general mayhem. The night of the car accident changed it all. It wasn't their fault, the crew that she was hanging out with - consisting of older teens - were driving the backroads, alcohol free, when a passing drunk driver sideswipped them sending the small car rolling into a nearby ditch. For half an hour Leiah stayed in the frigid water doing her best to talk Avery, her best friend and driver, into staying awake. Though she did her best Avery died an hour later in the hospital. It was just the wake up call Leiah needed to realize where her life was headed if she didn't do something about it.
Realizing their chance her parents quickly pushed her into therapy to help her get over Avery's death and the accident. Slowly Leiah shed the dark clothes, the attitude and the darkness that had been threatening her. The transformation back to her past self, the vibrant girl her family knew, was welcomed by more than one person. Leiah being among them. After that life went on as normal. She attended school, made new friends, joined the yearbook commity; life was going great and drama free until her 17th birthday struck. The night of her birthday Leiah started to notice that something was different about her - she felt different. She couldn't explain it but she just knew. The doctors all told her she was fine but she didn't believe it. Nightmares would wake her at night and when they did she could hear a consistent clunking around her room but with the lights off she never realized it was a new found talent until one day she was in the kitchen and it happened. She wanted salt for her eggs and as she turned to get it she found the salt shaker hovering above the counter. It was then she realized she was different. As the year went on Leiah realized she could do more than lift a salt shaker but could actually move other things. Panicked and not sure what to do Leiah hid what was happening to her from everyone - but it only escalated and she was quick to realize she couldn't stay. She had to go. So she was going to the one place she wouldn't be alone... but would be away from her home town to sort this out. She was going to find her older brother Rhys in a place he was staying - a place called Mysteria.
Flaws: Ever since her early teen years when she couldn't drink enough water and was constantly tired Leiah has been a diabetic forever giving her a monkey on her back. Thanks to her disease Leiah is constantly aware of what she eats and when. She hates it, and can not help but willingly go off course at times just to see if maybe things have changed - maybe she doesn't need the insulin shots anymore. Maybe she's gotten better. Of course it never changes which has led to more than one miserable, whoa-is-me day. Naturally curious Leiah has always been told she would make a great PI or reporter someday as she never seems able to just let things go. If it catches her curiousity - someone slipping into a dark alley that no one else will travel into, rumours about a certain person no one will talk to, a haunted back road... whatever it is she will follow it just to satisfy herself with an answer. It's the excitement and the thrill of knowing that pushes her forward to feed her curiousity. It has resulted in a broken wrist once and a few more interesting memories.
When it comes to memories though Leiah's is sometimes lacking. With so much running through her mind and so much she wants to do there just doesn't seem to be room for everything - or that is what some people believe. It usually takes double the time for Leiah to get ready to leave the house simply because she has to spend a good ten minutes hunting down where she put her purse or her shoes. Getting sidetracked is also a problem, walking downtown on her way to get milk more than once Leiah has been distracted by a sale or friends and returned home without the milk or whatever she has sent out to do. Though she often leaves herself notes to remember things as soon as the note is gone or out of sight she tends to forget what it is she was suppose to do or get.
Merits: With her sweet, youthful appearance and the thick irish accent that coats her words there are not many people that look at Leiah and think she's trouble. In fact a lot of people assume that's she's a sweet little thing which has often helped her get out of a few tight spots. Leiah's aware what people think of her at first glance and knows how to work it to her advantage when she is trying to get away with something or talk her way out of something.
Her big heart and soft feelings make Leiah not only loyal but completely dependable to her family and friends. It doesn't matter if a person is a true friend or someone she had just met - she'll be there if they need it. Over her life Leiah's had people there for her at every turn supporting her and helping her, now she only sees it fit that she returns the favor. She enjoys helping people and if someone needs her at 3am in the middle of a thunderstorm all they need to do is call and she will be there - pj's and all. She knows what it is like to need someone and is more than happy to be there to guide people through, or just be an ear to be spoken into.
Not naturally shy Leiah is outgoing and full of self-confidance that just seems to exude from her. It is a confidenance that her family has helped to rebuild and took her awhile to find again. After everythign she's been through she knows that she can handle anything else that is thrown her way - be it people, situations or issues. She can do it. Determined to figure out what is going on with her Leiah hasn't let it affect what she knows to be true. That she has control of the situation - that it doesn't have control of her.
