Daniella Chevalier
Name: Daniella Chevalier
Nickname: Dani
Age: 443 (says she's 27)
Birthplace: Rural France
Sex: Female
Occupation: Writer / Entrepreneur
Appearance: With skin as smooth and light as cream, lips like wine, eyes the colour of the ocean, and wavy dark hair with reddish lights, Daniella stands about 5'6" and has curves in all the right places. She dresses according to her mood, but always sensually. It's safe to say she never has any trouble getting dinner.
Personality: Capricious and mercurial, Daniella can be described as neither good nor evil, instead, she is neutral, acting as the whim takes her. She has a dark sense of humour, and being around as long as she has been, has a deep insight into what motivates people.
Special abilities/talents: Having travelled extensively and lived in many places, she speaks several languages fluently. A writer, she is fascinated by people, she studies them, and so is very good at figuring out their motivations.
Supernatural Affinity:
Species/Group: Vampire / Psychic
Power(s): Those belonging to a vampire / Mind Controller
Level: Level 4 for the Mind Control
Affiliation/Rank: Mysteria Vampire Coven
Preferred Prey: Prey is such an ugly word. It almost makes them sound unwilling.
History:
Born in 1566, Daniella was a young woman of noble birth, she became the lady in waiting to a duchess, and this was her introduction to court life. It was there she met and married a man chosen by her father, who as it turned out, unsurprisingly, had married her purely for status.
When a Prince expressed an interest in Daniella, it was her husband and father who decided she should become the Prince's mistress, a role that could potentially bring wealth to the family. Her husband was a social climber, and hitched his cart to the bedsheets of his wife. It wasn't a life Daniella would have chosen for herself, and perhaps if it were just her husbands will, she could have defied it, but Daniella's father also had a talent for mind control, and he saw opportunities. So Daniella became a courtesan, attending first to the Prince, then later to a select clientèle, utilizing her own gift to influence the men in her life.
When Daniella became deathly ill with tuberculosis (better known at the time as consumption), it was one of her lovers, Katerina, a foreign countess who adored her, that turned her. Faking her death was a simple enough matter, and it allowed Dani to escape her loveless marriage, and the lifestyle into which she'd been forced. Leaving France, she assumed a new name, living and travelling with the countess for many years.
It wasn't until several decades later that the two crossed paths once again with a bishop who recognized them from the French court. He might've believed it was coincidence if there had been just one look-alike. But two? No, the beautiful creatures were clearly unnatural. An aberration. Not knowing where the vampires slept, he raised a mob and waited for them to emerge. When they did, the mob attacked. Katerina was decapitated, and Daniella staked, then left to burn at the break of dawn. It was one of Daniella's blood donors that saved her and helped her recover from her ordeal.
Flash forward a couple of hundred years, and Daniella had found her way back to France, and it was there she met Genevieve, a young woman who had saved a loup garoux friend of Daniella's. Raoul managed to get a note to Daniella before his ship left, and curiosity peaked, Daniella sought out the young woman. When she went to find her, she discovered the poor woman had been arrested and accused of consorting with the devil, and was being tortured. Daniella simply couldn't countenance that, and went to Genevieve's rescue, mesmerizing the guards into leaving, and slaying the torturer, draining him dry. Genevieve was only just barely alive, and probably wouldn't make it through the night, so Dani saved her the only way she knew how, embracing her, turning her into a creature of the night. Thankfully, Gen was able to recover from the madness which had seized her mind during her torture. They left France, and Dani taught Gen how to survive as a vampire.
When Genevieve struck out on her own, Daniella found herself missing her protégée, and sought out others - not by making more vampires (though she has done this by request a couple of times over the centuries), but rather by becoming the patroness of the arts, supporting various artists, poets, and musicians, using the wealth she'd managed to amass over the years, and helping their careers by introducing them to people who would take an interest in their art.
This was when she first began to host the soirées, which gave her the opportunity to help her artists and also to feed. Every now and then, she'd invite some of her vampiric friends along, to grant them the same opportunity, hooking them up with people she knew would be willing blood donors for whatever reason.
Despite the care she took to vet her clientèle, both human and vampiric, it was through this that she first met Desmond, who came to question her regarding a rogue vampire, who was, as it turned out, a vampire that she'd turned away from her door. Unwilling to give up her independence, she declined to join Desmond's coven at that time, but parted on reasonably good terms.
She continued to run her private clubs when she came to America in the 1900's, running it as a business. Her speak easy was raided from time to time during the prohibition era, but oddly enough, the cops never found a single drop of alcohol in her establishments. It was around this time that Genevieve rejoined Daniella, much to her delight.
She continues to run the clubs to this day, owning a handful scattered across the face of the earth. Humans come for a variety of reasons; because they seek the artistic patronage Daniella continues to offer, for kinky thrills, a taste of the darkness, or because they hope that one day, a vampire might grant them eternal youth. No matter which it is, Daniella doesn't judge them.
She's moved many times over the years, never settling long in one place. She usually sticks to cities, which she believes to be safer, but the sound of Mysteria intrigued her, so she and Genevieve have come to check it out.
Flaws & Disadvantages:
Capricious - Daniella is prone to doing things on a whim, and not always for good reason, but purely because it amuses her to do so.
Wilful - She doesn't appreciate anyone dictating what she can and cannot do, she got enough of that in her human years. If she follows someone else's lead it is purely because she chooses to do so for her own reasons, whatever they may be. Try to force her, and she's likely to assert her independence by doing the opposite.
Loner - She runs clubs, she socializes, she takes lovers, and generally enjoys people, but it's very difficult for people to actually get close to Daniella. Getting attached usually leads to heart-ache.
Solar Allergy - To say she's sensitive to sunlight would be an understatement.
Merits:
Generosity - She has more money than she needs, and is happy to share it around with those she enjoys.
Insight - As someone who has spent much of her long life socializing, Daniella understands what drives and motivates people. It doesn't usually take her very long to figure out what makes someone tick.
Influence - she's a level four mind controller - chances are, if you're a man, she can get you to eat out of her hand, or convince you to forget you saw her taking a chomp out of someone.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Preferred PB (played-by): Eva Green
