Appearance: Five feet even and average weight, Claire feels she looks average in every single way. Brown hair, brown eyes, she's so generic it hurts. That's why she chooses to dress in outlandish outfits most days. Chucks and an evening gown, tailored by her into a short dress? Why the fuck not? She really likes playing with traditionally masculine pieces, and spent her entire eighth-grade year wearing bowler hats, men's 3-piece suits tailored to fit her frame, and a pair of flirty wing-tip heels. She grew out of that, but still loves the shoes.
Oh, the shoes. There's nothing she won't or can't wear. Ultra-feminine stilettos, her old beat-up and fraying Chuck Taylor All-Stars, or her favorite authentically-worn-in cowboy boots, and anything in between.
Personality: Claire is not one to beat around the bush. This doesn't endear her to many people, but the few who can tolerate her particular brand of honesty usually end up sticking around for a long time. She's super sarcastic, outgoing enough to walk up to anyone and start a conversation, and as street-smart as a whip.
Anyone who manages to break into the inner circle discovers that a lot of Claire's super sarcastic nature conceals a modicum of vulnerability. While she doesn't give a shit what a random person on the street would think of her, she does want to make sure she lives up to the standards of the people who love her, since there are so few, and she sort of likes keeping them around.
Special abilities/talents: Claire can sew very well. Most of the things she wears have passed through her sewing machine at least once. She ponders making her own fashion line, but then bitches would be dressing just like her. She will occasionally find inspiration for another person and start sketching ideas, but it's also a bit selfish- it gives her a new kind of person to sew for.

History: Born to Luke and Jean Marshall, Claire followed a five-years older brother, Zac. An "oops", Claire was to be the last child for the Marshalls, as Jean underwent a hysterectomy during the C-section that delivered Claire, making sure there would be no more mistakes.
Her whole life, Claire has felt she was in the shadow of Zac's brilliance. Extremely book-smart, he won every competition, always got straight A's, and even skipped a grade. 21 now, he graduated from Harvard Pre-Med after the autumn semester and is starting at their medical school in January. Add to that his good looks, and he seems like the perfect kid. No wonder her parents didn't want another. At least, that's how Claire feels. Despite the constant comparisons drawn between the two Marshall children, Claire really does love and admire her older brother, recognizing that it's not his fault he's the favorite.
Around the time Zac started getting recognition for his smarts, Claire began sewing, saving up her allowance for months to afford the machine in the pawn shop. At first, her parents didn't approve of her "ruining" her nice new clothes, especially when it came time for a family photo shoot for the local paper, announcing Zac's acceptance into Harvard. Eventually they tired of arguing with her and just turned a blind eye to their child's strange habits. This only urged her to find even more outlandish clothes, desperate for them to notice and say something. That never happened, but what did occur was a new love affair. Claire adored dressing this way. She began to scour the thrift stores for things she could alter, and spend her money on things to make her stand out from the crowd.
Flaws: Shoes- She's been known to spend all of her money for the week on a pair of funky shoes she found online, leaving her without lunch money or the gas to get to school. That's when she borrows her dad's bicycle... And tries to con one of her classmates into sharing some fries...
Allergic... to being like everyone else. At least, that's what she'd tell you. Considering she lives in a small town in the middle of nowhere, this can be a challenge. She'll do pretty much anything to avoid wearing what someone else is.
Stubborn- Getting a mule to do what you want would be easier than getting Claire to do it. When she's right, she's right, and woe to anyone who tries to change her mind.
Merits: Eye for Design- Claire can pull out three completely unrelated things and make it work. She's got an eye for colors and lines, and always seems to be a step ahead of the next big trend. But by the time everyone else is wearing it, she's moved on.
Grace- Claire doesn't take a wrong step very often. If you see her trip, better check the calendar for a blue moon.
