Year of Snupin fic post: The Tichborne Claimant, #2

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Title: The Tichborne Claimant, 2/12
Rating: R
Warnings for domestic abuse, anti-Semitism
Summary: Johnny Lupin-Snape is getting ready for his bar mitzvah, and the rabbi has asked him to look into his family. Little does he know what this means to his fathers.
Notes: This is a sequel to Motherless Child, wherein Snape and Lupin marry and adopt an orphaned werewolf. Johnny, their son, is about 12 in this story, and digging up family secrets that Severus would much prefer to have buried. I will post one installment each month between now and October 2011 in honor of the 10th anniversary of the 'ship.
For the curious, here is the source of the title.

Part One can be found here.

Belated Anniversary Fun: Tags!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Quite a few months ago I volunteered to tag the LJ community all the way to the beginning. I promised [info]lore I'd get it done before the anniversary date and I did. =D But I haven't had a chance to make a post about it till now, so sorry about that! Hehe...

Please, please, in both community journals, remember to use the rating and any other relevant tags.

I'm currently in the process of trying to organize the tags in our IJ comm but that's not as a big of priority at the moment for me. It will get done though.

Let's keep partying on this Ship for at least 5 more years! =D

Celebrating the Lupin Snape Mood Theme!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
All the anniversary activities prompted me to finally fix all the mood theme links that broke when I removed my pictures from my LiveJournal account. The mood theme was my favourite community project: not only did we get a whole heap of brilliant art from the community's artists to use, but the drabbles produced as companion pieces for these were also great reads. I was so into the mood theme when it came out that I decided to do a bad impression of an art critic and review all of the mood theme pictures one by one.

If you aren't using the Lupin Snape Mood Theme yet, check out the Installation Instructions here, but even if you don't intend to upload it I would recommend checking out all the art just for the sake of enjoyment. I have found that it's actually a very good prompt whenever you're stuck trying to express certain emotions - an instant inspiration chart is a very useful thing to have!

Once again, I would like to thank everyone who was involved in the Lupin Snape Mood Theme: artists, drabblers, and those vital people who pulled it all together ;)

Snupin Shopping List Challenge

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Not long ago, I shared this funny experience I had at the grocery store in my journal. In a comment on that post, [info]inkgeist came up with the idea for this challenge! [info]lore suggested I post it here as a part of the continuing month-long celebration of the [info]lupin_snape anniversary! *confetti toss*

So, here is the challenge. Write a shopping list for Remus, Severus, both of them, or any version of their family. Give us a grocery list, or list of errands, or anything that gives us a little insight into their lives. Utter crack to dark tear-jerkers welcome!

Post your list as a comment to this post. :)

Anniversary Fun: The Return of Candid Captions!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

We had such fun with Candid Captions in the past, I thought we should do one for our 5th Anniversary. And what better choice than a little-used capture from the Snupiny-est movie of all, Prisoner of Azkaban?! You can write a caption just for one character or all the people in the picture. Please keep your captions Lupin/Snape-focused, but you can also use the cut-tag as inspiration, if you need it.

Everyone wants to know what Severus is up to )

Feel free to visit previous Candid Captions and add to them, if the picture is still available. Mine need to be reloaded, but I'll have to do that later. As a reminder, we're still taking Anniversary Recommendation Lists here and Family Fest is still going until the end of the month. Remember, we had a very special contribution offer for Family Fest, and I know we're not near the limit yet, but it's not too late to participate!

Enjoy the captioning, everyone!

Quickie notes - recs clarification and did you miss this?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
First off, I think because of the IJ downtime, many of you might have missed this delightful Anniversary art (NWS) by [info]skitty_kat. So fun and cute - be sure to give her some comments for this great community gift!

Second, on the Recommendations post - I had meant everyone to reply to the post with their recs, however, I am perfectly fine with recs posted to the community as long as they are behind a cut-tag if they go over 10 lines (which is a community rule for general posts - story, art and mod posts are a bit different).

Please do not delete your posts or take this as a rebuke if you've already posted to the community. You're fine, you're good, you're wonderful! I just wanted to clarify some questions and rules, and to encourage you to post a link at the original recs post, as I might add it to the sidebar if there's many responses. You may also combine your lists into one post if you choose to do more than one category (Art and Story, Story and Other, all three, etc.).

Thanks, all! I'm loving reading the recs we've had so far!

love, lore

P.S. - Let me burn an extra rec by encouraging you all to read We Are Family... and Homicide Isn't an Option by [info]scribbulus_ink. It's a Family Fest story based on The Bird Cage/La Cage aux Folles, but more than that, it's another gem of a story from a writer who has been around Snape/Lupin almost from its inception. People have been drifting away from Harry Potter for a while now, but McKay still keeps her hat in the ring here at [info]lupin_snape. After 5 years (6?), the fact that she's still writing for us is pretty special. Whether you've just arrived here or have been around for ages, Anniversary Month is a great time to read and comment on something new from a classic author. (Bwa! And look who posted as I was writing! ♥)

And #5 is So Very Not Work Safe, in spite of having (literal) heaps of gorgeous Restoration garb in it.

Theme: These Snape/Lupin fics were all originally written for me! I am such a lucky duck:

(1) "On the Dynamics of an Asteroid," by Ellid (at Moonshadow).

(2) Four Christmas Eves Where Severus Snape and Remus Lupin Fail to Communicate... and One Where They Succeed, by Sahiya.

(3) Why Severus Snape Might Have to Shout 'Yoda' in the Midst of Battle by [info]westernredcedar

(4) Part 9 of Through the Looking Glass, by [info]pixychelle. (And I get a cameo in Part 20...)

I hope you enjoy these too! *encourages lavish praise of these wonderful, generous souls*

Anniversary Activity: Bring Out Your Recs!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

We've made our introductions and had a poll, and despite InsaneJournal being down it's time to have more Anniversary fun! (I'll cross-post this to InsaneJournal when it's back for anyone who wants to wait)

In honour of the occasion, you're asked to make up to five (5) recommendations. Any fandom era (classic to current), your faves, ones that struck you lately, thematic (your top 5 slave fics), your own work, your best friends', people who never get recced, people who always get recced but we're missing these gems, etc. etc. etc. Please do tell us, though, if you make a specific list. Or tell us the list is specific and let us guess. I'm easy! ~_^

You can formulate your rec list however you want, naming anywhere from 1 - 5 pieces. You can mix and match your rec list between stories, art and other, or you may take up to three different posts of 5, however, the posts must only cover one "area" - stories, art, other. In other words, you really only get to rec 5 stories, and then you can rec 5 pieces of art and 5 others, not 10 or 15 stories.

"Other" can consist of web sites, RPGs, resources, fan mixes, icons, etc. We'll count photomanips here, even though they could also be listed under art as well. Think of this as the "anything else Snupin that you can think of that you want to bring attention to" category.

Recs can be as long or as short as you like, creators and links would be good, but not necessary if you just want to describe a long-lost love. This isn't a contest to list the most items or to write the most detailed recommendations, but a way for us to share our Snupin love with one another.

To recap: Up to 5 recs in a post, up to three posts with 3 different sorts of recs. Have fun with it, everyone, and let's make this [info]lupin_snape's most epic rec post yet! I can't wait to see what you have to say!

Anniversary - Taking Stock polling

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Anniversary introductions and reintroductions are still welcome here. If you've been around awhile or are brand new or have only lurked in the past, we'd love to hear from you! I'd like people to treat this anniversary as a kind of Snupin Homecoming. *g*

Continuing our 5-year Anniversary month celebration, I offer you a poll on your preferences for some basic, important questions in our community. ~_^ I will be posting this poll to both Lupin_Snapes, so for accuracy's sake, please only vote in one of them, either on IJ or LJ.

And if you have any burning questions for a future poll (maybe another one next week?), please leave them here as well.

Happy Anniversary, Lupin_Snape!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

Today marks the 5th year anniversary of the Lupin_Snape community! We'll be celebrating for the rest of the month with polls, discussions, the Funtime project, and there's already been some special surprises!

Happy Birthday, Lupin_Snape!!!

I'd like to kick off our celebration with a brand new "Introduce Yourself" thread. Whether you're new to the communities or a long-time fan, a regular participant or lurker, please reply with the following info:

Name (preferred nickname, not necessarily your journal name)
How you found the community or the earliest community experience you can remember
Why you ship Snape/Lupin
   And some optionals:
Most memorable fic you've read in the last month (doesn't have to be new, though)
Most memorable art you've seen in the last month (same)
Link us to your first post or reply on Lupin_Snape

If you think I've left out some obvious questions, you're welcome to share your further thoughts, but I've probably saved them for polling later in the month.

Rather than make a big speech (like I normally do), I'll just say that I've been happy to be a part of this community for the past three years, partially because I love Lupin and Snape together, but, more importantly, because it's been grand working with each and every one of you. Thank you, everyone, for five great years!
