Discussion topic: HP films
Lore's post reminded me that I've meant to give this project a try, so I'm starting off simple by tossing a discussion topic into the ring.

Topic: If you're planning to see the last two HP movies (in the theater or not; place doesn't matter), how do you think you'll react to seeing Snape and possibly Lupin, depending on how they film it, die on screen? Do you think watching it happen will be different in some way from reading about it?

Are we supposed to just answer you here? I hope so because here goes. ;)

Either it will be devastating, especially since we didn't actually see Remus's death in the book, and I hope both of them would play the scenes very well OR it will be so fucking cheesy it'll make me cringe. I mean in the book we really don't get to absorb Remus's death at all. It's a footnote so I almost think anything will make that much more tragic. And as much as I am NOT into Remus/Tonks I think seeing them dead, side by side, knowing they have a baby out there really would make that much more real and heartbreaking. The other thing I fear though is replacing my mental vision of Snape's death. I know how *I* see it and actually seeing it could begin to morph that in my mind. Unless it all just blows, I think I'll be a basketcase and plan to bring a LOT of tissues.

Sorry if I wasn't supposed to reply. :/

Yes, you are supposed to reply! For some reason, more discussion is happening on LJ, but you got us started here, and that's terrific!

*HUGS*

Personally, I plan on a completely ninja viewing of the films some day, but not now.

love, lore

I didn't even think about seeing them die ... until now.
Thinking about it, I think I will cry A LOT. Gosh, I'm not sure I should watch the last film in public, this will be embarrassing.

It will be ridiculous. Especially when I see Snape die. I will be completely and totally devastated. When I read it in the book, I cried for two hours straight. It's going to be so bad. Snape is also my favorite of the two, so seeing Nagini get him good will pretty much ruin my life. It will be embarrassing and terrible hahaha. Lupin will be bad, but I am not as fond of movie-Lupin as I am of movie-Snape. Also, in canon, Lupin at least has someone who loves him. Snape is so left out in the cold. :/

I've never finished the last two books, or even seen the 6th movie, not even the 7th-Part One...I just don't know how to approach it all. I pick up a lot from what others are saying, but I still haven't exposed myself to canon after the 5th book.

I must sound like a putz, but with all the leaks and spoilery that came out during the 5th book, I just decided I wasn't ready yet...I don't think I am yet with the upheavals in my own life.
