The Desktop Calendar for May is by twilightsocery, downloadable here.
CURRENT: EVENTS:
The Dark Fic Fest is on-going through the end of May, and there's still plenty of time to sign up to write/draw the darker side of RL/SS here.
The thematic list search for May is Severus/Remus/Harry, and you can make suggestions for stories that fit the theme throughout May here or on LJ/DW.
If you aren't following Lusty Month of May 2009, you might want to check out pervy_werewolf or the link round-up on the snupin_prophet newsletter (here) because there are several RL/SS stories and art being posted this year. Check them out and give the artists/authors a little love to keep them going through the month!
And finally, the Bigger, Longer, and Uncut project is still taking artists, so if you're interested, email lupinsnape @ gmail.com.
UP-COMING EVENTS: Don't forget! The deadline for Chocolate & Asphodel vol 2 is July 1. If you missed out on the Bigger, Longer, and Uncut project, you can get involved with this project. Stories between 3000-20,000 words and art are both needed. Submission guidelines and more info can be found here.
But the big thing is...
JUNE 2009 RETRO FEST: For the purposes of this fest, we're doing the Time Warp! All prompts must be based on pre-DH canon. In other words, we're going back in time and throwing out everything we learned in DH (including that pesky death thing). You can go back in time/canon as far as you want, but you may only go up through the end of HBP.
Examples:
Art: Marauders Era - Moony shagging Severus on the floor of the Shrieking Shack while James and Sirius watch (bonus points if they're getting each other off too)
Story: HBP Era - Remus and Severus slowly come to a better understanding of each other as their roles in the war start to ramp up with the werewolves and the Death Eaters, respectively.
The fest will run through June and July with submissions due by July 31.
Right now, we're taking prompts in the comments of this post. Comments will be screened. Although this post will be duplicated on IJ, LJ, and DW, and you're welcome to leave a suggestion at any one of the three options, DO NOT leave prompts at more than one place. Otherwise, it'll get confusing for the mod. Leave your prompts at ONE of the three journaling services only.
ONE STORY PROMPT AND ONE ART PROMPT PER PERSON, not per comment. This means you need to think carefully about what you want to suggest, because you only get to suggest two prompts total: one for a story, one for art.
Deadline for leaving a prompt: Sunday, May 31, 11:59 p.m. EST (-5 GMT)
How do I make a fantasy request? Leave a comment in response to this post! Anyone may submit a retro story prompt and/or a retro art prompt; this includes members who are planning to create for the fest. All I ask is that you keep your prompts appropriate to your age - under 18, do not suggest prompts rated higher than R.
We will assume all prompts are Snape/Lupin, so no need to put that unless you are requesting a threesome (which are welcome).
Any limitations? Prompts don't have to imply sex. This is an all-ages community, so prompts can vary from G - NC17.
Alternate realities are welcome (i.e. Severus is sorted into Gryffindor); cross-overs and alternate universes (i.e. Snape and Lupin as rival brain surgeons in a non-magical AU setting) are not.
If you are under 18 years of age, you must say so in your prompt and your prompt must reflect that.
One story prompt and one art prompt per member - no sock-puppet journals, no RPG journals.
Threesomes can be requested as long as the prompt clearly makes Lupin/Snape equal or dominant. Secondary pairings are fine as long as they don't take away the focus from RL/SS.
No requesting art or stories based on existing art or stories. The idea of a fantasy fest is to generate new ideas, not riff on pre-existing material.
Can requests be thrown out? Yes. I will throw out prompts if you are under 18 and do not say so in your prompts.
I will throw out prompts for stories/art of an overtly sexual nature if you are under 18.
I will throw out prompts that do not focus on Snape/Lupin.
I will throw out all your prompts if I find out you have used other journals to make more than one.
I will combine prompts that are identical in nature, attributing it to both requesters.
I will edit prompts that are excessively lengthy. Please keep it succinct.
If you post more than one story prompt and/or one art prompt, I'll take the first one and discard the rest.
Disclaimers, Warnings: I set the under-age limit at under 18 because that is the age a person becomes responsible for him/herself in the United States. I understand that some countries allow people to take responsibility for themselves at younger ages, however, we needed a cut-off age.
No Hard Feelings: Not every prompt will be claimed. We have hundreds of members, but the vast majority are not active writers/artists; we have less than 100 active creators, maybe less than 50-75 these days. If you know there's a chance you'll be upset if your prompt isn't claimed/used, then you might take that into consideration before tossing a suggestion into the ring.
You can delete/repost your prompt comment as many times as you like up until the deadline, but once the deadline passes, that's it.
On June 1, I'll post all the prompts along with the rules so that participants can start claiming. Stay tuned for more details in June!
