Newcomer with a lot on his mind...
Enter a big man from an icy San Francisco rainstorm, black hair in tendrils down his back and a raincape pulled taut around his broad shoulders. He doesn't know where he's crossed into; wouldn't much care anyway, from the brooding in his dark eyes. He just wants a hot drink, a few hours' distraction, and maybe some company. His life is full of weirdness anyway.

Lilith. We've been apart three years and here she is still trying to tease me into her latest scheme. Stealing from her father. Gods! Am I really desperate enough to sink that low?

I don't want to be.

I need to stay away from Lilith. Find a lady worth my time. A good cause to distract myself. New friends. Something. But for now...I haven't been in here before, so I'll see how many treats I'm willing to make up for in sit-ups later.

He draws near the counter, pushing the raincape back and putting on a smile to soften his appearance for the cashier. "Um, hullo. Start me with a mocha, please."

As he waits, he searches the menu for signs of chocolate, makes a few mental notes, and then glances curiously around the room.

If he was looking in her direction, he'd notice a girl around ten years of age near the stage. She had her dark hair free and long and she wore a pair of tattered jeans that should have been thrown out months ago. Her t-shirt, that was half hidden under her unzipped Tinkerbell hoodie, had a black cat with a tail stuck in a bear trap on it.

She was reading the instructions on the karaoke machine with a frown as she tapped her foot. "Where the heck is the Alice Cooper on this thing?" She shouted in a bratty tone. No one seemed to pay attention to her, nor did it seem any adult was with her. It was a scene out of a bad After School Special waiting to happen.

"Well, it's good someone around here appreciates the classics," Daimon rumbles, cracking a real smile. I want to see cute kid belting out Alice Cooper, dammit. That would be awesome.

"Miss?" he calls over a server who looks marginally less busy than the others, and points at the karaoke box. "Is there actually any Alice Cooper available?"

The waitress in question looked over toward the direction he pointed. "We usually do, but the machine is set to automatically replace the normal music cache with nothing but seasonal songs once it hits December." She offered a half hearted smile with her shrug. "Our boss is big on the holiday." That would certainly explain why it looked like Santa had exploded in the cafe...

...And possibly why the girl who was at the karaoke machine was now dragging another server dressed as Santa, or perhaps it was Santa, over to the machine to hook up her mp3 player to the device. It seemed if the girl couldn't find Alice in the machine she'd add him herself. "If I hear another version of Silent Night, I'm going to scream!" She insisted and stomped her foot irritably. "The world demands Alice and I am going to give him to it!"

She really wanted to sing 'Feed My Frankenstein'.

"Ah, I get it. That's quite all right then--it looks like the young firecracker in question has the situation well in hand. Um...specials, hopefully involving chocolate?" He blinkled at the waitress hopefully.

"You tell 'em, poppet! I can always pacify the locals with 'Dona Nobis Pacem' or somesuch later."

The waitress nodded. "We have an entire menu dedicated to chocolate items. Our house special is the Chocolate Explosion, which is a drink concoction of various chocolates from the multiverse. We also gave a variety of cakes, pastries and anything else you can think of."

At this point the girl had decided to wander over to the only other person who seemed to share her opinion on Alice Cooper. She had to wait a few minutes for Santa to figure out how to make her nearly obsolete mp3 player work with the karaoke machine, so that meant she was bored.

"You like Alice Cooper?" She asked the man. She either never learned to talk to strangers or just didn't care. She glanced at the waitress. "Hello? Can I have another ice cream soda?" She added, "Please" as an after thought.

"An entire menu? Oh gods, I'm going to be doing a lot of sit-ups." He chuckled good-naturedly. "Ah well, 'tis the season." ...Multiverse?

"I'll try the Explosion. May as well bring out the big guns, it's one of those sort of nights." He glanced out the window. Huh, it's stopped raining. AFTER I got here, of course.

He settled at a table, chair creaking under his weight slightly, and shucked off the raincape, hanging it over the back of his seat. The plum silk shirt underneath stuck to his skin a bit; he glanced at the dry windows again and his brow furrowed slightly.

He glanced up at the voice, and raised his brows with good humor. "I like all kinds of music." If I don't like it personally, I can at least grok others' enjoyment of it. Being a telepath is sometimes fun. "But yes, I definitely do. I've even got his Muppet Show episode."

"Then I'll be right back with your Explosion and her soda." The waitress smiled and headed off to get their drinks, leaving the girl with the newcomer.

"Seriously?" Hilary was in awe. She loved that episode. "That's like only the best Muppet Show episode, ever. My parents think it's crazy and think he's crazy, but he's pretty cool. Not as cool as my friend Susan, but he's cool." She stuck out a hand and it seemed as if she was trying to be more grown up than she was. "I'm Hilary. Are you new here?"

"Lovely. Thanks very much." He watches her go a moment, then turns back to the youngster.

"Yeah, that was one of my favorites. That and Vincent Price. You know Alice Cooper's still around?"

He shakes hands very gently. "Hullo Hilary. Daimon, yes, needed a new hang-out, followed my nose as best I could through a rainstorm." He shrugs.
