Confessions of Runaway Furs - Brigit Snow
Calling it quit's for tonight, I had wanted to reach 10,000 but it's not going to happen.

The screen starts off black, text scrolls up:

August 5 2044

Feline morph. (Felis catus erectus)

The black fades to a settee, it’s has a grey blanket covering it, and there’s a grey curtain of some kind hanging behind.

Sitting in the middle of the settee is a fluffy white cat, she’s sat with her feet flat on the ground, her tail curled onto her lap, her fingers are buried in the thick white fur as the cat morph wrings her tail the same way a human might wring their hands with nerves.

“So...so what do I say again?” The cat said one hand flicking up form her tail to brush her long white hair behind her shoulder before grabbing her tail again.

“Talk about the night before you ran to the woods.” A female voice says from behind the camera. “And say your name first.”

“O-o-okay.” The cat said. “Um...”

“Brigit.”

“I know that!” The cat complained her eyes darkening for a second.

“I’m Bright Snow. My master bought me...I don’t even know why he bought me, because he could maybe?” Bright said. “He would show me off at his parties. I would dance, his guests would ask questions but I didn’t always understand, they thought it was cute.”

Bright looked down to her lap, up at the camera and then off screen to the right.

“One night, One of my mater’s guests asked me if I’d ever been drunk.”

The cat looked down at her lap.

“I said I didn’t know what Drunk was... He gave me his glass and told me to drink. I told him I didn’t like the taste. So he gave me something else to drink, it was coke, but it didn’t taste quite right. There was rum in it.”

Brigit’s ears flattened to her head and the fur on her shoulders fluffed up in anger.

“He got me drunk and then complained when I threw up on his shoes. What did he expect to happen?”

“What happened after that?”

Brigit’s hand rose to cup her cheek.

“I don’t remember that much, but I know Master shouted at me, shook me and I threw up again. He hit me then, so he must have already taken me away from everyone else.”

“Was that the first time he had hit you?”

“Hardly.” The Cat’s tail flicked and puffed. “There was many times before that, this was just the worse. Then he locked me in the bathroom for the night...and the rest of the next day, he had gotten drink too and had forgotten I was there.”

Brigit took a deep breath and smoothed the fur one her tail with one hand.

“I had cleaned myself up while I had been waiting, and waiting for my master to come for me.” Brigit said. “But needless to say when he saw me and remembered why I was there he hit me again. And locked me up, again.”

“How long was you in the bathroom for?”

“I don’t know.” Brigit admitted, pulling her feet up onto the settee so she could rest her chin on her knees, her arms wrapping around them and her tail curling around her ankles. The camera zoomed in on the cat’s face, her blue eyes clearer as the stared at nothing.

“But I know I was hungry.” Brigit said after a few second of silence. “So I climbed out though the window...I didn’t think about the fact it was on the second floor. And no I Did Not land on my feet. I landed in a... one of those shaped trees... it broke my fall, but it almost broke me at the same time.”

“So what did you do once you were outside?”

The cat muttered something and looked away to the left embarrassed.

“I’m sorry Brigit, but the mike won’t have caught that.”

The cat glared at the camera, or the person behind it. Her tail was twitching away from her ankles and back.

Then her gaze fell at various a spots around the room. Anywhere except at the camera. Her hands picking at the fur on her knees.

Finally her eyes rested on the floor.

“I tried to get back inside.”

“I had only gone out though the window to go around the house, get some food and then go back into the bathroom.” Brigit laughed, although it sounded more like a sob. “I couldn’t get into the kitchen, and when I gave up and went back to the other side of the house I couldn’t climb back up into the bathroom... I started panicking, I didn’t know what my master would do.”

“Were you scared for your life.”

“I don’t think I was, at least I didn’t know I was, I was just thinking it was going to be bad, bad bad Like being locked up again, but for longer. Maybe this time in another room, one that didn’t have taps. I was sure that if I was left in a room with no taps my master wasn’t going to bring me water, just like he hadn’t brought me food.” Brigit looked up at the ceiling. “So yeah I guess I was scared that he would do things to me that would kill me, but I didn’t think it though enough to realise that those punishments would kill me.”

“So what did you do?”

“I thought that if he c-couldn’t find me, he couldn’t lock me up. So I ran.” Brigit said. “I hid in the town, I stayed in an ally, there was an old man there. He looked at me, said I looked scared and offred me a sip from his glass bottle in a paper bag he smelled of alcohol, so I ran from him. I shouldn’t have done that, he was only being nice, I guess.”

“That night I slept under a bunch of newspapers in a doorway. I still hadn’t eaten. A couple walked past, the man had a bag of chips, he said something about me being a ‘poor bastard’.”

“He thought you were human?”

“He couldn't see me, I hid under the papers more when he came close.” The cat said. “He dumped what was left of his bag of chips on the pavement before me. The woman laughed at him, laughed at me. I ate it the moment they were out of sight.”

“After that, I saw my master’s car drive past, I ran away again. I kept moving thinking I couldn't let him catch me. I was dirty, smelly, and I had made him come looking for me. I didn’t know what he would do but I knew it would be bad. I avoided other people the whole morning and eventually fell asleep behind a big metal wheelie bin at some time in the after noon I was so tired that not even the rain woke me up.”

“My Master pulled me out from behind that big by my tail.” Bright added after a moment of silence. It was dark, and raining heavily . He was in a rain coat, with an umbrella and a torch. I was sopping wet and shivering.”

“What did he do?”

“He started beating me with the torch and started saying what he was going to do me for running away, for forcing him to come looking and getting soaked in the rain.”

“What happened then?”

Brigit smiled.

“Someone grabbed him from behind and slammed him into the wall.” She said. “I had no idea who he was, I thought he could me a new master someone to look after me, protect me. Instead he held my collar in one hand...I think my master had ripped it off me...that was when I really started to think he was going to kill me.”

“What did he have in his other hand?”

“Master’s umbrella. He said I had to choose, take the collar and go back, or take the umbrella and go to the woods, I would have no master there, but there would be... um” Brigit stopped talking and looked at the person holding the camera.

“It’s okay you can say.”

“He said that there would be a wolf morph living in the woods to help me.”

“Did he help you?”

“He gave me a roof over my head, food, water, somewhere safe. And he taught me that I can look after myself, I don’t need a master.”

“Yeah, he helped me.”

“It’s been almost a month since I ran away. I ran away, because I was scared, scared of being punished, scared of dieing.” Brigit sat up a little straighter and brushed her hair back over her shoulder. “I am a free, independent person and I would rather die than go back.”

The screen goes black.
