[info]midnight_air: First attempts at handspun

My first post in, like, forever ... !

I finally ponied up for a spinning class (after receiving a wheel as a gift in 2006!) because it was evident that I'd never get up the nerve to learn on my own (especially not after my traumatic encounter with the Drop Spindle of Doom ... ). I'm so glad that I signed up, because after two lessons I'm really enjoying it! Picspam below ...
Handspun samples under the cut ... )
The skein on top was spun after my first class, and the bottom skein after the second. My teacher is GREAT!

The fiber is BFL top from Woodland Woolworks; the colorway is "Moulin Rouge". Spun on my aptly named Ashford Joy.

Amber, coral, freshwater pearls, and vermeil necklace and earrings for my stepmother-in law, to go with the gold embroidered red caftan she was wearing on Thanksgiving day this year.

[info]neotoma: Cherry Blossom Bag...

I did finally finish the Cherry Blossom Bag; I just hate sewing fabric and zippers to knitting, and I especially hate trying to make a lining without a pattern. I'm just not good enough at sewing yet to do a great job of it.

But I think it looks pretty nice as a bag )

And the interior is pretty )

Next time, though, I want an easily understandable pattern for the lining, and a tiny Phillips head screwdrive for the handle hardware. Assemblying this was a lot more stressful than it should be, if knitting is supposed to be a hobby.

Or maybe I'll just stick to Booga bags...

[info]neotoma: Just Pockets Bag

Completely finished with Mom's Just Pockets bag. As expected, the knitting was ridiculously easy, the felting likewise, but the sewing was a pain. Zippers are just not fun, especially tiny 9-inch ones.

But have a look for yourself )

The yarn is Ella Rae Classic which I picked up at A Tangled Skein for something like $5 a ball. There is a lot of yarn leftover when you finish knitting one of these, so each ball gets used twice, if not three times. Ella Rae Classic felts up tighter than the Cascade 220 that the pattern actually calls for, but it's not too bad.

[info]randacello: T's Candy Apple Scarf

Here is my latest completed crocheting project, a gift for my favorite Smithie (my very dear friend T)!

The scarf measures 6" x 95". It was made with a little more than one skein of Homespun "Candy Apple" yarn and a P hook.

[info]ex_libby330: I made a drawing!

I'm taking an art class at school and right now we're using colored chalk. A girl in my class has a big crush on Brendon Urie from Panic! at the Disco, and decided to draw him, so I followed suit and drew a musician, too! This is supposed to be Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes.

[info]keieeeye: Couple of older things

I spent most of the evening re-organising my needlecraft drawer and cataloging what I actually have (ie, a huge pile of patterns, a few small kitsets, a few metres of cloth and a whooooole lot of assorted floss, most of which doesn't have standard DMC number), so while I had them out I photographed a couple of things I had sitting around. They're slightly blurry but I fixed them up as well as I could so they should be reasonably clear.

[info]keieeeye: cross-stitch work in progress

I posted this in my journal so I am putting it here too even though it is still [user]lookwhatimmaking (IJ does not like me usernaming that :(). I still have two more dark colours on the ring of light, more work on the torso and the bottom of the last colour in the lower left corner, which is what I'm working on at the moment.

[info]ex_libby330: Wooden pins

I cut these out of wood (I don't know what kind, I just got a thin sheet at the craft store), painted them, and glued safety pins to the backs. They look cute on my purse. ^_^

Photo behind the cut. )

I'm going to make about a bazillion of these because they are just way too fun. XD

[info]wyrdkat: Artist Trading Card!

kiss kiss

Just a simple little artist trading card. The background is watercolors, the flower and the people are from collage sheets, there's also some lace like paper layered into there and some fibers. The lips are stamped from a hand carved stamp I did yesterday.

I've been working hand carving stamps...I'm making a set of rune stamps and I made a cute little chickadee stamp (I didn't draw the bird myself, I traced and transfered an illustration from a book).
