Last week's LJ post and this week's prompt

[info]firefly124
We had one fic posted last week to the LJ [info]lmb_challenge.

Title: Last Hope
Author: [info]philomytha
Rating/Warnings: suitable for all
Characters: Alys & Simon (Vorkosigan fandom)
Prompt: changing times

This week's prompt is "parade." Could be a military parade in Vorbarr Sultana, a Daughter's Day procession, or, really, anything you can think up for either of these worlds or the Sharing Knife-verse. Fics of all length are welcome, as are art and icons. And if you don't find this prompt inspirational, past prompts are always available for use as well. Come play if you're so inclined!

Prompt #11: changing time(s)

[info]firefly124
This week's challenge is "changing time(s)." Obviously this is inspired by this weekend's daylight savings jump, but as I doubt any of the 'verses in question do daylight savings, the prompt is intended to be a bit broader. Could be traveling between time zones, adjusting to ship time/planetside time, or the type of thing that leaves people saying, "Wow, times, they are a-changing!"

As always, past prompts are always available for use as well.

Last week's post on LJ and this week's prompt

[info]firefly124
First, the post:

Title: Not Forcing
Author: [info]wombathouse
Fandom: Vorkosigan
Pairing: Ekaterin/Miles
Prompt: out of season flowers

And now the prompt:

This month's theme is spring, and this week's prompt is "spring storms," by whatever interpretation you'd like to put on that phrase, in any of the Bujold fandoms. As always, past prompts are always available for use as well.

Last week's LJ post and this week's prompt

[info]firefly124
Sorry so late! I flaked!

We had one post last week, our first Chalion!

Title: Untitled
Author: [info]pgranzeau
Rating: G
Character: Cazaril
Prompt: stars

For this last week of February, the prompt is "unromantic." Take whatever pairing you like (or don't like) and do something unromantic with them. Could just be mundane, could be a fight or break-up, whatever. Have fun with it!

Past prompts are always still available for use and can be found here.

March's theme will be spring. If you have any spring-like prompts you'd like to see, please comment here with them!

Last week's LJ posts and this week's prompt

[info]firefly124
We had three fics this past week! All are set in the Vorkosigan 'verse, so I won't list fandom for each.

Title: Hearts A-Flutter
Author: [info]wombathouse
Rating: G
Characters: Martya, Kareen
Prompt: hearts

Title: Wretched Matter
Author: [info]katealaurel
Rating: G
Character: Miles (Miles/Ekaterin)
Prompt: bad poetry

Title: Surrounded by Roses
Author: [info]quietann
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Miles/Gregor (A Deeper Season AU)
Prompt: bad poetry

This week's prompt is "out of season flowers." What's with roses in February, right? Doesn't have to be roses though. Could be any flower, and it doesn't have to be forced hothouse style. It could be, or it could be a sign of a miracle (Chalion) or of something to do with the land magic in the Wide Green World. It also doesn't have to be winter, and it doesn't have to be romantic, just something to do with flowers blooming when they would normally have no business doing so.

Previous prompts are always available to be written/drawn/iconed/whatever and can be found here.

Last week's posts on LJ and this week's prompt: bad poetry

[info]firefly124
Last week we had two fics from [info]quietann on LJ:

Title: Ordinary Hearts
Fandom: Vorkosigan
Character: Gregor
Rating: PG
Prompt: hearts

and

Title: The Mire
Fandom: Vorkosigan
Characters: Gregor and friends
Rating: G
Prompt: mud

Still none over here though. Are the prompts just not grabbing people? Because it seemed like there was some interest at the start.

This week's prompt is "bad poetry." Could be a lovelorn character trying to compose something (and trying to come up with rhymes for mucopolysaccharide or whatever it was!), something found in a box of old papers, or a deliberately bad poem about any pair (or more - even in canon there's the one TSK triad!) of involved characters.

Past prompts are always still available for use, and can be found here.

If you have any other suggestions for romance prompts for February, please do comment to this post with them!

Last week's post, this month's theme, and this week's prompt

[info]firefly124
We had one taker for the "mud" prompt over on LJ last week:

Title: Untitled Drabble
Author: wombathouse
Rating: G
Characters/Pairing: Miles/Ekaterin

The theme that was suggested for this month is VorValentines. But since I'm hoping at some point we'll see some Chalion and Sharing Knife offerings also, I'll broaden that to Romance.

This week's prompt, then, is "hearts." Use it metaphorically, romantically, or, if that's how the inspiration strikes, medically.

Past prompts are always still available for use and can be found here.

If you're new to IJ or just new to posting to communities, here is the IJ FAQ on how to do it. You do need to be a member to post, which I probably should have clarified earlier. I chose that setting so that we'd be less likely to get hit by spammers.

Also, I imagine romance may lend itself to the occasional steamy bit of writing. That's absolutely fine! Just please do place it under a cut.

Prompt #5 - mud

[info]firefly124
This week's prompt is "mud." The more obvious ways to use that would be in the Sharing Knife 'verse, dealing with mudmen and/or malices, but I'll bet you can come up with plenty of other possibilities!

Past prompts are always still available for use, and can be found here.

Next week we'll be into February, so I'm looking for ideas about what sort of theme people would like to the prompts and any specific prompts for that matter. Please comment with anything, no matter how random, that you'd like to read, write, or draw, that you think might tempt people's muses.

Thanks!

Prompt #4 - waves

[info]firefly124
This week's prompt is "waves." Take that any way you like: ocean waves, radio waves, waves of change.

Past prompts are always still available here.

We had two fic submissions on LJ last week by quietann: Final Exam and Breathe Deeply of Freedom, both Vorkosigan fics focused on Gregor, rated G.

Happy writing/drawing/iconing!

This week's prompt: snowstorm

[info]firefly124
We've apparently got a doozy of a snowstorm coming here tonight, so when I think "natural environment," that's where my head is!

Previous prompts are "stars," and "air," and they're still available to be written/drawn/whatever. There will be a post following this one that I'll use in the future as a link-back to show all the prior prompts. I'd backdate it to avoid cluttering people's flists, but I don't think you can backdate community posts.

We had one ficlet posted on LJ last week: Ward by ljgeoff, Vorkosigan, Aral/Cordelia, G.

Prompt #2 - air

[info]firefly124
And our first Sunday prompt is "air." It could be a storm in the air, a ship running low on oxygen, or a metaphorical "breath of fresh air." Let your imagination run wild!

For our first, short week, we had two fic responses on LJ:

Title: Stars
Author: [info]spiralsheep
Fandom: Vorkosiverse
Character: Ivan Vorpatril
Rating: all ages
Prompt: stars
Word count: 110

and

Title: Night Watch
Author: [info]firefly124 (aka the silly mod who forgot to x-post her own fic to IJ *hangs head*)
Fandom: Vorkosigan
Character: Roic
Rating: G
Prompt: stars
Words: 100

Prompt #1 - stars

[info]firefly124
The theme for January's prompts will be "natural environment." These will be kept loose enough to work on a jumpship or space station! Just because you're in a metal can doesn't mean there's no natural environment, it's just a very different one. :-)

And the first prompt will be "stars." Think of the possibilities: Fawn pondering them while on the road at night, Cazaril stealing a Roknari star chart in an early hope of escape, or Miles as a rising (if invisibly so) star in ImpSec.

This will be a short week. (I got only one response to the question of whether people wanted a prompt today to start the year, and it was a yes, so here it is!) There will be a new prompt on Sunday. But old prompts are always fair game, so if you don't get around to writing this until next week, please feel free to post!

Fic can be any length, but please put anything longer than a drabble behind a cut. Art can be any medium or size, but please put anything larger than 250x250 or more than 3 icons behind a cut. If you're doing icons, please note whether or not they're "snaggable."

Please use the "stars" tag for your fic or art, as well as tagging it fic or art, and what fandom you're writing/drawing for. Once you've posted, I'll add an author/artist tag for you, and then it'll be there for you to use on future posts.

Prompt Suggestions

[info]firefly124
So far, the polls are leaning towards monthly themes and no contests/teams/whatever, and it's an even split on single prompts versus prompts for each fandom. (On LJ, the trend is towards single, cross-fandom prompts.) It's only been a day, so that could shift, but for now, I thought we could start collecting some prompt suggestions. If it stays an even split over here and single prompt favored on LJ, I'll go the single prompt route. If it ends up that there's a substantial preference over here for separate prompts for each fandom, then the two comms will end up with different prompts for the week. In the meanwhile, I'm going to look at broad, cross-fandom prompts. We can always get more specific later.

Prompts that will work across all three fandoms are going to be necessarily broad. Things like single words, phrases, and non-specific situations will probably work best. Here are a few off the top of my head. Please comment with more suggestions! When we have a few, I'll try to group some into a theme for January.

seeking parental approval
honor
outsider
winter
change in allegiance
not what it looks like
caught in the act
persuasion

Oh, and here's another question for you. I think Sunday as a "new prompt, weekly wrap-up" point will work best, given my schedule. But do you guys want to wait for this coming Sunday to get the first prompt, or do you want one for tomorrow, and just have the first week be a short week?
