Tim tried to stifle the groan as Shannon shifted against him. He didn't want to wake Shannon yet. He didn't want to face the possible hatred and...
Shannon's power, well the blocking had always been sketchy. Even if he'd never known it was there Shannon chipped away at it and it had been a constant battle eating up more and more time of the K'har Enclave, to the point Tim had been all but ordered to find a way to stay close, to stay right with Shannon. He'd nearly lost his mind the last few months with the increasing strength of his Heat. His Mate, his Shannon right there close enough to reach out and touch and he didn't dare.
"What?"
Tim startled at the whisper.
"What's wrong?" Shannon murmured nuzzling into Tim. "You hurt so bad I want to fucking cry. What's wrong?"
"You don't understand," Tim was so used to human voices these last decades his own voice sounded almost-odd, the depth and vibration that was patently not human.
"Well, explain it then. You just remember the part where you're my goddamned dragon and I'm keeping you. I wasn't drunk or on anything last night, dumb ass. Well, yeah, buzzed but uh uh, you know how much I can drink. You're my dragon. You've been my dragon since I was three. Been jacking off to thoughts of you--dragon you-- since I was like thirteen, fourteen. You're my dragon. I got you now and I'm not letting you outta my damned sight."
"Humans--"
"Tim. You've worked for us for what? Two years and counting? When the fuck have you ever gotten the impression Jared and I were normal? Or Tomo for that matter?"
"Tehathay."
"What?"
"My name...Tehathay of Clan Leh of the K'har Enclave."
"Tehathay," Shannon murmured testing out the sound of it. "I like that. See why you used Timothy too. Prolly still call ya Tim most of the time, habit. And pretty much have to when we're in LA. Tehathay's much better than Singe. What's your brother's name?"
"Thayanal."
"Tehathay..." Tim swallowed.
"Spit it out," Shannon demanded.
"Now--Tehathay, mate of Shannon of Clan Leto of the Caer'don Enclave. The last full blooded of Caer'don Enclave died sixteen thousand years ago. This, us, basically makes you the Caer'don Enclave now."
"Me, you and Jared." Shannon said quietly. "Jared's --not leaving him behind Tim. Promised him when we were kids that you wouldn't take me away."
"He's--"
"Been around you all his life just as much as I have. He's got a few quirks that keep getting stronger, especially since you started working for us and really were always right under foot. He's Jared. Ain't going anywhere without him."
"Why we never took you into the Enclave, blocked your abilities instead."
Shannon's lips brushed against his chest. Tim shivered a little as Shannon's hand slid over his side and his hips pressed forward, erection rubbing against the outer skin of his pouch.
"I can feel you trying to figure out how to convince me I don't know what I want," Shannon grumbled and nipped at Tim's chest.
Tim groaned.
"Humans mated dragons before, you said so, and said I have dragon blood so that kinda proves the point that this can happen."
"One--one in five hundred years and only four in twelve hundred years before that."
"See. Humans and dragons," Shannon said stubbornly.
Tim gasped at the slide of magic brushed against him. Shannon's magic. The decades long blocking of it seemed well and truly gone. He should be worried about Shannon's ability to control it. Shannon had been powerful enough he'd been blocked almost from the time he'd been found.
Shannon moved a little too much, or a little too fast, breath hissing through his teeth.
Tim wasn't a healer but he did know enough how to ease minor injuries. Especially Shannon's, while human physiology was more fragile, it was also easier to heal--no natural magic to fight against. Shannon's magic, even if it was unblocked now, didn't fight against him as he concentrated on easing the aches and bruises.
Shannon moaned and arched against him. "Dragons are made of fuckin' spanish fly and viagra, aren't they?"
Tim choked. "You're insane."
"Nope, just trying to figure out how to fuck you without your tail getting in the way." Shannon licked at Tim's chest.
That was easy...except he couldn't shift to human form. Tim started to panic. Shannon was...
"What?" Shannon's head snapped up.
Tim shook his head a little trying not to hyperventilate.
"My Goddamned Dragon, get that through your thick skull, Kelleher." Shannon insisted. Panic forgotten for a moment as Shannon set out to find every spot on his body that sent him into orbit.
