Amelia had just gotten off work and was hailing a cab, "Asshole!" No on ever stopped on this damn street. Throwing a hand back up into the air she whistled and finally a yellowed car pulled up to the curb. "Finally," she signed and hopped in, "Sunset Bay Apartments please." The cabbie nodded and pulled back into traffic. Working at Bottom's Up as a bartender would've made her mother happy, but if she ever found out that Amelia danced as well she'd probably flip. It wasn't what most people called a "respectable" job, but Amelia loved it, and sincerely loved the girls that she danced with. They were like a family, and to be quite honest Amelia didn't care what people thought. Didn't care what society thought. She was comfortable - and happy - with what she did and that was that. "Sunset Bay," the cabbie said in a very dull tone. Lia read the meter and dug into her purse, yanking out a wad of ones. "Thanks," she said, handing him her fare. She gathered her things and quickly clambered out of the car.
It was very dark and she had her keys in her hand before she even reached the apartment door. The people outside her quaint little apartment complex weren't held in high esteem, the kind that would steal your purse and other things you had to offer. She always got her keys out ahead of time. Just in case. She shoved the front door open and flipped on the light before throwing her things on the sofa. The message machine beeped intolerably on the end table near the entryway and she reached a hand over to hit the play button. "Hi Lia, its mom, just seeing what you were up to, hope work is going alright. Gimme a call after you're off okay? Okay. Love you!" One from mom. The next two were just business calls; one from the landlord and the other from the body shop down the street. She'd have to check on her car tomorrow.
Making her way into her bedroom she stripped out of her work clothes and pulled on her bikini. It was time for a swim. Swimming somehow always relaxed her and it'd been a stressful day. With a towel over her shoulder and her flip flops on her feet she walked down the stairs to the sea green in-ground pool. She noticed there wasn't anyone else swimming, or sitting on the white lawn chairs, so picking an empty one she threw her towel down and looked around. No one else here. Maybe she could go for a skinny dip. Excitement surged through her body and she quickly slipped out of her bikini and dove in. Ahh, so refreshing. Resurfacing she shook the water from her hair and went to grab her towel when she noticed someone else coming down the stairs, 'Oh shit,' she thought, and quickly covered herself as best she could with her hands.
