Who: Nora and Zoie
Where: Hospital --> Their apartment
When: Mid-morning
"What I don't understand," Zoie said for what had to be the sixth time since waking up. "Is why I'm attached to all of this when it doesn't look like I need it." She had a broken arm and various cuts and scrapes, yes, but why was she hooked up to an I.V. and heart monitor? She had been staring at that little box and it seemed like everything was fine! Sure, she was just a lab technician, but she was pretty sure she knew when a heart was acting up. Actually, she felt like she had intimate knowledge of that for some reason. And with this hospital.
I work here, that's it. Yes, that was it and Zoie was going to stick with that story instead of anything else. Which was probably was she was adamant that she not see her chart. A niggling feeling in the back of her mind told her that she already knew what was there, but she was fine with not thinking about it. She would rather stay there in the bed being happy and waiting for... something. Something was going to happen. Oh, yes! She was being discharged today! Turning towards the nurse who was cleaning around the house, Zoie opened her mouth. "Hey, do you know who-"
Her voice cut off when the door opened to reveal an older blonde who made Zoie's face lit up in a smile. "Nora!" Her big sister was here to take her home!
Finally. Even though she was having a bit of trouble remembering exactly what had happened in the previous days, Zoie knew that she had been here for more than long enough. Anytime a hospital room started to feel familiar it had been long enough. "I'm so glad you're here; tell them to get this I.V. out of me so we can go." She glanced at the nurse again and wiggled her arm, eyebrow arched suggestively.
