If I drown tonight, bring me back to life

Who: Treat and Tanith
When: Late night
Where: Treat's house

Somehow, and without the faintest idea how it had happened, Tanith had ended up sleeping in Treat's bed. )

I toss and turn like the sea

Who: Treat and Tanith
When: Evening
Where: U of M Hospital

Tanith had worked a long and particularly grueling night shift. Twelve straight hours of torture meant Tanith was exhausted, but she'd made an obscene amount of money. When her last client left just shortly after nine, Tanith took a shower, redressed, and got ready to head over to Treat's house to take care of his cats. The little voice in her head told her she needed to stop this nonsense, but she hadn't. She hadn't known what else to do, but she knew those damn cats meant a lot to Treat, so she'd stuck around. Eventually she'd probably hear from someone in his family and she'd go back to her old life. Easy. The idea didn't bother her at all. Really.

Tanith grabbed her bag and keys and headed through the brothel. She passed one of the lounges and noticed a group of whores and clients both gathered together around a television, chattering excitedly. That was when Tanith found out that the barrier had come down. The people inside were alive, and they'd all been taken to the hospital. Tanith had gone straight there, cursing herself the whole way. She wasn't sure what she was doing or why she was going, and again, she kept telling herself she needed to just disappear. She didn't. She saw it through. She even got quite irritated with some bitchy nurse who wouldn't let her in to see him because she wasn't family. It had taken the better course of two hours, but Tanith had at least managed to get information out of them - what building, what wing, what floor. So she went there, found a bench in the hall, and planted herself there. Anyone who asked if she had the clearance to be there got glared at until they gave up. After a couple hours, people stopped challenging her.

Two hours, four hours, six hours... What the hell am I doing here? she thought again. Eztli's never going to let me live this down. At least she hadn't brought him with her. He only would have annoyed her with his insisting this meant something stupid, like she was attached to Treat or something equally ridiculous. When the clock hit 7, Tanith had been up for well over twenty four hours. Fantastic. I can blame sleep deprivation for this temporary insanity. Yeah. She'd go with that.

And all who still remain are whispering in the dark

Who: Tanith and open!
When: 11:30 or so
Where: Outside the high school

By the time Tanith got there the place was already swarming with cops, and it seemed like a set of parents was showing up every sixty seconds or so. The entire property was being surrounded by police tape, and from a distance, that in itself was bad, but didn't seem so fucking insane. It was when she got closer and she realized they were plastering it on what appeared to be thin air that she realized the bottom had well and truly dropped out. She overheard enough to confirm her suspicions. Invisible barrier. No one could get in, presumably no one could get out. That last one was a total guess, because everyone inside was incommunicado.

The police were trying to keep everyone away from the 'barrier' itself, but at that point there were still too few officers to entirely surround the property. Tanith parked her bike across the street, and started walking around on foot. When she neared the back entrance, she hopped a police barricade and walked with one hand extended to find the block. It didn't take long for her hand to flatten against it. This is fucked up, she thought. MacKenna's familiar took off at a run, needing to confirm it for himself that it went all the way around. Tanith didn't stop him.

Eztli stopped at her side and looked up at her. "Ever heard of anything like this before?"

Tanith shook her head. "This isn't a ward," she said. "It's a fucking wall."

Where do we go from here?

Who: Treat and Tanith (and Eztli)
When: Morning
Where: Treat's house

Once again, it took a while for Tanith to truly wake up. Not because of some strange magic this time, but because she'd slept like a log. She was a light sleeper, but it was entirely possible a hurricane couldn't have roused her that night. Tanith stared at the ceiling for a long time before she remembered that she was in Treat's house. Nope, totally didn't dream that. Or anything, for that matter.

We're at the crossroads, my dear )

I dare you to let me be your one and only

WHO: Treat & Tanith, and NPCed Eztli, of course
WHEN: Just a little before sundown
WHERE: (GASP!) Ad Gustum

What the hell did people wear to this sort of place? He'd been assured there was no dress code or secret handshake but it didn't ease his trepidation. He picked one of his nicer suits, figuring the place most likely catered to very wealthy clients considering Tanith had a personal chauffeur. He ditched the tie for a less stuck-up look, though he did spend half an hour in front of the mirror wondering if he looked like a high-class john. He'd never been to a strip club, much less a brothel. He checked his watch and decided that he had better go. While he didn't want to show up too early and make it seem weird, he didn't want to show up too late either and run into...other people. People he might recognize or recognize him. The prospect of that situation was almost enough to make him text Eztli's prostitute that it was off. But the fact was, he and Tanith had been forced into this strange situation and he really didn't want for it to happen again. Eztli had said magic had been involved and Tanith knew magic, so she would be the better person to solve it.

Will I ever know how it feels to hold you close? )

my black madonna

Who: Alistair and Tanith
When: Evening
Where: Ad Gustum dungeons
Note: Possibly/probably not considered worksafe.

The first time Alistair had ever seen his Mary she had been wearing blue. She had been so young and beautiful, and the color had really made her eyes pop. Later, when they were alone, Alistair had eventually taken to calling her 'Kitten' for the way she moved and the sounds she made. Tanith reminded Alistair of his young Mary so very much. It wasn't just the blonde hair and blue eyes, or her habit of wearing blue a lot. He had always felt there was something distinctively feline about her. Not her sounds, like Mary, but her actual appearance. Oh yes, it was easy to see why he had to have her.

When Alistair was alone -- which he was now the majority of the time -- he had taken to projecting and following people around. Mostly Tanith, but Angeline was a respectable second. For several days now, Alistair had found Tanith's behavior even more interesting than usual. She had taken to drinking herself to sleep in the evenings, and that terrible animal of hers had stopped following her around. It seemed as if Mistress Tanith was finally reaching her breaking point. Which was why, when Tanith's scent wafted into the dungeon, Alistair found he simply couldn't resist the urge to wind her up a little. He had been good so far, and he'd been in this small cell for longer than a month now. He was finally going to start to have some fun.

Standing, Alistair moved as close to the silver bars of his cell door as he could get without hurting himself. "Good evening, Mistress."

If you die, I'm killing your cats.

Who: Treat and Tanith (and Eztli and God knows what other furry creatures)
When: LATE at night/early in the morning (depending on perspective)
Where: Ending up at Treat’s house

Tanith was going to kill Treat. She was probably going to have an easy time of it as well, since it sounded like he was already dying. He’d called her and told her to meet him at the usual, and he’d certainly sounded like he was at Death’s door. But Treat wasn’t at ‘the usual’ – the place they’d designated to meet up for this kind of call. Tanith sighed as she headed outside and back to her motorcycle. She was able to put two and two together. Very likely that Treat had gone after his mark, and just as likely that something had gone horribly wrong. She needed to find him and find out what happened. She needed to make sure their tracks were covered. She needed to make sure nothing could link back to her.

And she should probably make sure he didn’t die, if she had the time. )

You're a what?

Who: Treat and Tanith (maybe Eztli, who knows with that damn cat)
When: Midday
Where: Mostly Anywhere but Here

It was exactly three weeks today since Tanith had gotten a good night’s sleep. Three weeks to the day since Alistair had been taken and given to Angeline. Tanith was far too suspicious to write that off as a mere coincidence. It didn’t add up though. It wasn’t like she felt guilty. She certainly wasn’t losing sleep because she felt bad for the piece of shit. She’d been the one that had wanted to kill him outright. Still did.

She would sleep, but never feel rested. When she woke, she felt certain that she was being watched. That she wasn’t alone. And that just wasn’t possible. Her room was so heavily warded that the cleaning staff wouldn’t even walk near her door. She’d even grown so desperate that she’d allowed that fucking cat to start sleeping in her room. It was no good. Something was wrong. Tanith grew increasingly frustrated with each passing night. Today, she decided it was time to do something about it.

After her last client of the day, Tanith went to her room to call Treat. She hadn’t spoken to him since their lunch... thing, but she knew he was involved with anti-vampire organizations. That was a good start. I’m going to regret this, she told herself, and with a sigh, she dialed his number.

It can't be easy to shock Treat. )

Til death do us part, I’ll tear us apart

Who: Tanith, Angeline, Eztli (NPC) and OPEN! To other AG employees and clients alike ;)
When: Early evening
Where: Ad Gustum

Tanith was in one hell of a mood. Her big client of the day had put her there. The fact that she was now covered, from head to toe, in his blood did precious little to salvage that mood.

She hated these sorts of clients. The ones with… special needs. Her services were tailored to meet them, certainly, but there was a limit. A limit to her own dignity, for God’s sake, and when she had insisted as such, Domina had happily reminded her that it was a very fine line separating Tanith from a common whore in the Ad Gustum hierarchy. She could play ball, or Domina would find someone who would. So Tanith had met this bastard’s… requirements. As ridiculous as they were.

It turned out that this particular sad fanged bastard had been turned on his wedding night. He and his darling young wife had entered their honeymoon suite one fine August night in 1924, only to be attacked by a vampire. The little woman had been torn apart – he had been turned. He explained that he still felt a massive amount of personal guilt, having been unable to save his wife. He needed to be punished for his sins. And apparently was just the special sort of fucked in the head to want the image of his wife to be the one to do said punishing.

The vintage, hand-sewn wedding gown Tanith now wore cost more than some people made in a year. This morning, when Tanith and her client had checked in to an Ann Arbor hotel, it had been in pristine condition. As shining white as the diamond earrings she wore. Now, as she walked through the doors of Ad Gustum, there wasn’t a single pin-prick of fabric not permanently stained red with blood. With a heaving sigh, Tanith fell back into the first chair she saw in the grand entrance way, not giving a flying fuck who saw. She kicked the shoes off and across the hall for good measure. They were now a deep crimson as well. She dropped her bag on the floor beside her, closed her eyes, and tilted her head to the ceiling.

“Long day?” the sound of her familiar’s voice was not the comfort it was to most. It only made Tanith scowl.

“I am in no mood,” she warned the overgrown cat. “Go find yourself a ball of yarn and get out of my hair.” She needed a long, hot bath. And a massage. And a good, stiff drink. She did not need the cat - or anybody else - yapping at her.

sound the alarm

Who: Domina, Lex, and Tanith
When: Early afternoon
Where: Ad Gustum
NOTE: This was supposed to go up on the July 26th gameday, but our placeholder seems to be... lost. -_-

When Ancilla had delivered the news, Domina had calmly told her to summon Lex and Tanith. When she was alone, it took every ounce of control not to throw a temper tantrum of epic proportions.

Amazingly enough, it never crossed her mind to be afraid. A Moriarty needn't fear anything or anyone. At the very least, everyone from that dungeon would have a spell on them to make them incapable of finding this place again. But she was still angry. This slight was unacceptable.

Remain calm, Mistress, Hades urged. Do what needs to be done, and take your anger out on something worthy later.

Oh, yes. That went without saying. Something was going to die tonight. A precious few of the slaves had already been rounded up. And they would all have to be made examples of. It was what any proper Roman enthusiast would do.

And she would enjoy it.

This shit is not okay. )
