Always be cageing

Who: Jo, Drina and Marco
Where: Ballard House
When: Early morning

It used to be that the promise of an upcoming full moon was a happy, exciting time for Jo. It was like a homecoming, even if she had never really left home in the first place, because while she was never anyone but herself that was never quite so as when she was in wolf form, running with her people underneath the moonlight. Knowing that this full moon fundamental pieces of the pack would be missing broke her heart. It was going to feel lacking, incomplete, like the full moon was a ritual she would not be able to fulfil this time. Not to mention that just thinking of running under the moon without her brother and sister along made Jo feel sick.

She had not slept last night, and hardly so the past few. For all the strong face and helpful disposition that Jo tried to show others, she was very much on her last nerve at this point. Of course she kept on going because there was nothing else to do, but every once in a while she had had to stop herself and calm down before the tears came in full force. As quickly as it would come, it would go, and Jo would return to whatever was occupying her mind at the time. Right now she could only be thankful for the opportunity to help other weres at the William Ballard House; for Jo there was really no better way to heal herself than by helping others.

There was an edge in the air around her that made Jo's hairs stand in the back of her neck. Everyone was nervous, herself included. If she hadn't done a good enough job then these people wouldn't be safe, and neither would those they might encounter. Still, Jo could only trust herself to do her best to keep that from happening. Clipboard in hand, she assigned people to cages, making sure no one who had asked was left without one. It sounded rough, sure, but when Jo saw the relief in people's eyes she realized they, too, knew there wasn't a better option.

chillin' out max and relaxin' all cool

Who: Telyn and OPEN
When: Mid-morning
Where: Starbucks
What: Feeding the addiction

Her time since coming back to Scarlet Oak had been beyond busy. It still was weird to think of Emogen as her mother, the woman who had always been the cool aunt. Her recovery was going well, and the elemental was grateful for that. Of course, her encountering a demon herself wasn't fun but she had Adam, which more than made up for it. There weren't words for how grateful she was that he had allowed her back into his life and that more than that, they were dating again. She knew it wasn't easy but he was definitely worth it.

The thing that she was still wrapping her head around was that she was half-angel. Her grandfather, and the grandmother she had yet to meet, were angels. Her father had been an angel. Telyn didn't think that angels could die so that kind of threw her for a loop. So much happened so fast that it was nice to just grab a cup of coffee and just mull it all over.

Not that she needed anyone's encouragement or a reason to get coffee. The girls at Starbucks knew her and her order well. It wasn't hard, given that she was there so frequently. Soon, armed with an iced vanilla Americano, she was sitting, feet tucked up under her in one of the comfy chairs, glancing out the window as she finally let everything ruminate and stew in her brain. Every so often it was like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire theme song was playing in her head because her life got literally flipped up side down. She didn't realize she was softly humming it under her breath as she continued to think it all over, Lucky at her feet, choosing to ignore the random song choice for the moment.

Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all

Who: Drina and Troy
Where: Red Dragon Dojo
When: early afternoon

The lull before classes always left Troy feeling a deep calm, like the great intake of breath before the plunge. He'd made sure everything was in line for his students: from the sanitizing of the mats to the quality checks on all the equipment, Troy had gotten it all taken care of. He had a very specific mental checklist that came from a solid year of methodical devotion to his dojo and his life. To him, being an instructor was more than just teaching a class a certain set of moves. It was instilling discipline and respect in oneself and in others, and watching them flourish and grow, much like the plants for which the martial artist had such an affinity. The only thing left for Troy to do was await the arrival of the students for the next class. As he strode into his office, he glanced up at the schedule to see when his sister was scheduled to work next, glad that she had gotten back to teaching. As much as she seemed to be doing better, Troy was still concerned for her well-being and unwilling to push her too far past her ability to cope with the departure of her friend.

Taking a seat at his desk... )
