Regarding This.

Okay, so I think everyone is sort of the same mindset, including me. I HATE ACTIVITY CHECKS OMG THEY MAKE ME NERVOUS, but it would be good for the community as a whole to clean it out a bit. :) So, to keep everyone on the same page, here's a quick update:

- It will NOT be a regular occurrence; it's designed to clean things up when the community gets cluttered.

- The more characters you have = The more time you have to be active.

- If you have characters at other games, you may let me know the number and that will be factored into the amount of time you have to be active here. :)

- Journal entries will count for activity, so long as the character has been threaded at some point before.

- Threads need not be complete to count as activity. As long as it was posted within the time span, or at least replied to within the time span, it will count.


I think that covers everything that was discussed via comments, plus a little more. I'm still working on a good formula to use for determining time span (my example ended up being something like seven months, which is a little excessive), but you can go ahead and let me know your character counts. If you plan on apping more in the next two weeks, you can add those as well.

Okay, so with the arrival of a new player/character, I've been thinking about how active this game is. It's not brimming with activity, but there are still plenty of characters and players that enjoy being here!

However, there is a decent-sized list I've made of characters who haven't had any activity since May 1st! In fact, some of them are my own characters (oops?) but more troubling are the characters who are the sole property of a player. It's easy to lose track of your activity if you've got a bunch on your plate, but not when you only have one or two.

Would you guys be open to an activity check? It wouldn't be a regular occurrence to keep up with; it would be implemented any time we get to this point -- lots of characters, lots of players, not a lot going on.

It would also curve to fit the players -- if you have a lot of characters to keep up with, you're going to be given a wider span of time in which to keep them all active (roughly three months); if you have less than three, you're going to be given less time. Also, journal entries would count toward activity only if you've played the character in a thread before.

ETA: Hermeh asked a GREAT question - What if you have a lot of characters in other games? If this is the case, just let me know and you'll be added to the list of players with more than three characters. This way, you'd have the greater time span in which to be active. :)

Exemptions would be anyone who has told me/posted a hiatus before today (so no cheating and suddenly calling hiatus; doesn't work like that), and characters approved within the past month.

Welcome to all new players! The game is growing slowly, which is really exciting, and what's more exciting is the fervor current players are showing in regards to creating new characters! Sure, a lot of players can be grand -- but reliable, good players with lots of characters is also amazing! Please pimp us out and share the love with your friends, we always have more room to grow!
