Current music:When you love someone -- Bethany Dillan

never felt like such a fool in front of anyone... I guess that's what you do when you love someone.
When: Saturday, September 15th, 2012; 7:53 p.m.
Who: Preston, Audrey
What: Movie night
Where: Audrey's flat

Butterflies were fluttering about in her stomach as she raced the clock to tidy up her flat. Preston was going to be arriving at any moment and Audrey felt compelled to make the place perfect. She wasn't sure why she was nervous, but ever since she'd invited him over for a movie night she couldn't get the nagging thought out of her head that she wanted to make the setting romantic. Romantic for what, she'd ask herself -- what she and Preston had was still very much in the 'strictly friends' zone. They might have been spending more time together and having an absolute ball(at least on her part), but that simply attested to the strength of the platonic bond they were forming.

Audrey tried convincing herself that the desire for romance didn't have anything to do with Preston; it was just because she was lonely. That, and she had decided that they should watch Casablanca -- one of her favorites -- which automatically set her heart towards romance. The fact that she was watching a classic romantic drama with a male friend by no means meant she had to be nervous or feel as if she'd been transported back to her primary school days.

It was only a movie. They'd sit on her sofa, munch on snacks, and watch the film. Simple as that. Nothing to be worried about. Casual and cool. Didn't need to feel awkward. Didn't need to think about the mere peck on the lips that had occurred a few weeks ago that, for some odd reason, she hadn't been able to stop thinking about -- because it was nothing more than his saying goodbye and being friendly. Yes. Friendly. Friends. They were friends. Key term, that.

But if all they were was friends, why was she freaking out? Audrey whimpered as she launched herself onto the couch, having set everything up the way she liked it(movie was primed and ready to go, snacks were on the coffee table, drinks were chilling in the frig, blanket was hanging over the sofa in case they got cold... was that it?!). Now all she had to do was wait and stew in her nerves.

What seemed like hours passed(see: five minutes) before she heard the knock on the door. She jolted out of her seat, dashing to the door before whirling around to take one last look at herself in the mirror, "Be right there!" She called over her shoulder, stopping in front of her full length mirror to sigh at her reflection. Audrey had tried to match her attire with the theme -- casual. Which in her world was probably one or two notches higher than the rest of the world's opinion, but the designer jeans and black blouse would have to do.

"Coming, coming, coming!" She called out again after having deemed her appearance as good as it was going to get and really, what did it matter? There was no call for impressions. Audrey finally flung the door open with a wide grin, easily concealing any sign of the butterflies dancing in her stomach, "Preston, hello!"

Yeaaah, that whole kiss thing was completely strange and out of the ordinary, and Preston couldn't really stop thinking about it, either. And it absolutely wasn't just him attempting to bid her a friendly farewell. He'd definitely intended it to be something more, but that had bombed and fizzled out without much of a show at all.

Something he was still kicking himself over, actually.

Regardless, when Audrey had phoned him and asked him over for a movie, he couldn't help but be hopeful. Maybe she'd felt badly about that night. Maybe she'd really wanted to kiss him, too, and it took her a long time to realize it. Or maybe she really just wanted to move past it and continue being friends.

To be on the safe side, Preston had gone all out. He was decked out in his finest casual wear, like Audrey, and had taken extra care in shaving and styling his hair. A light layer of cologne clung to his skin, and he was pretty pleased with the final product.

Sure that he'd either win her over, or at least look damn good trying, he knocked on her door and waited with a grin as she responded. "Audrey," he chided gently, stepping in and shaking his head as he gave her a friendly squeeze of the shoulder, "I could have been anyone! And there you go, opening your home without so much as a peek!"

"Oh, my," Her tone dramatic, a palm rising to her cheek as her expression turned to a light frown, "You are completely right, Preston. How dare I possibly even think about opening the door before checking to make sure it wasn't one of my obsessed, crazy stalkers! Because I have a million of those -- this face I was blessed with has a lot of fans. Thank heavens it was only you." Hopefully he could catch the dry humor.

Audrey laughed, leaning up to place a friendly kiss on his cheek. In greeting. People did that all the time, it didn't mean anything!

"Mmm, I love your cologne," She heard herself saying as she pulled away, slightly stunned that she was so direct, "I mean, please come in!" As Audrey turned her back to him and led him towards the living room she pulled a face, mouthing the words to herself as if to question her sanity. I love your cologne?! She didn't think friends noticed or cared about that sort of thing, and if they did they probably didn't compliment on it. Ah, well.

"Oh," She turned back to him, "May I get you something to drink? And I hope you like the film Casablanca -- wait, you have seen it, haven't you? Because if you haven't seen it then I'm not sure if we should be seeing one another anymore. I mean... friends. We shouldn't be friends anymore." One minute in and she'd already stuffed her foot in her mouth. Twice. Damn those butterflies.

Preston rolled his eyes playfully as she mocked him; it sounded funny, sure, but he meant every word of it! He didn't want just anyone knocking on her door, maybe some psychotic murderer going through the neighborhood, door to door, just to see if someone would answer.

He shuddered at the mere thought of it.

Of course, then she said she loved his cologne. And 'Mmm-ed' at him. What in the hell? Not that he was complaining, it just... Wow.

"Uh, thanks," he replied, scratching the back of his neck nervously as he followed her further into her flat. He'd been here before, sure, but now he'd gone and kissed her and she was loving his cologne and now things were just odd.

"Drink, yeah," he replied, nodding with a smile. "Scotch or gin on the rocks? I'm not picky." He laughed lightly, then tilted his head in slight confusion (slight adoration) as she babbled about them not seeing one another if he'd never seen Casablanca, before amending that to mean friends... Was she okay? Seriously?

"It's.... a great movie...?" he replied, unable to keep the smile off his face. She was seriously kind of hilarious right now, and he wasn't even sure why. Was she nervous? Did she think he was going to lip-assault her again?

Audrey scrunched up her nose at him, whimpering a whine softly to herself before shuffling over to where she kept her alcohol. She could take that minute while making drinks to grab hold of some cool. She could tell that he noticed something was off, which made her even more nervous. In fact, her hand was shaking slightly as she held the bottle of gin, pouring them both a glass on the rocks -- that's right, she was going for the hard liquor too. Forget the fact that she wasn't a fan, she would do just about anything at this moment if it meant she'd loosen up and relax.

She took a deep breath before turning back around with both glasses in her hand, giving him his as she smiled, "There you are. I made sure to stock the drinks, so feel free to have as much as you like." Though she really hoped he wouldn't have too much since dealing with a drunk Preston didn't appeal to her in the slightest degree.

Then Audrey took a small sip of her gin, caught off guard by the strength. "Oh, wow," She coughed, patting her chest lightly, "I forgot how much that stings..." She laughed nervously, now embarrassed that she made a fool of herself. He was going to see that she couldn't hold her liquor very well, let alone handle a sip, and then he'd think she was pathetic! In her mind she grumbled, assuming that the women he bedded knew how to handle their liquor-- and then she realized that she was comparing herself to the tarts. What was wrong with her?!

"Anyway, uh... shall we sit?" Cheeks... heating up now. Perhaps she'd made a mistake by inviting him over...

"We shall," he replied, gesturing for her to sit in her preferred spot before settling down next to her, an arm draped casually along the back of the sofa. He was liking this slightly nervous Audrey; it made him feel a hell of a lot more relaxed, personally! Usually, he was so busy worrying about her cool, calm exterior; worrying that she was criticizing this, or critiquing this... Now, though?

Now he was on the verge of chuckling as he admired this new, refreshing Audrey.

He took a long, slow sip of his own drink as he crossed his legs comfortably, watching the screen with interest as the black-and-white movie began. His breathing slowed as he relaxed even more, falling into the beginning of the familiar storyline. He'd always liked this movie, and it usually bothered him when people tried to incorrectly quote it. It wasn't cheesy; it was tragic.

"No matter how many times I see this, no matter how well I know it... In the beginning," he started, speaking softly and leaning nearer to Audrey as if they were in a crowded theater, "I'm always curious to know what exactly happened between those two," he finished, smiling softly.

Audrey pressed play on the remote control after sitting down, her posture perfect for the first few minutes of the film. It was only then that she realized she could relax, sit back and lounge. She took another sip of her drink, still wincing as the liquid stung her throat -- at least she didn't start coughing this time. She sighed before letting herself sink deeper into the cushions, her head resting gently on his arm. What?? She couldn't do anything about that! It was there and she wanted him to be comfortable. It wasn't like she could ask him to move his arm so that she could be comfortable, that would be extremely rude.

To be honest, it was difficult for her to focus on the film. She was more focused with slowing her breathing down, hoping that would also help calm her. Preston was just too close for her liking -- not that she didn't like it, but her mind got a bit foggy with him sitting so near. She could still smell his cologne, or maybe she was recalling the memory of what it smelled like. Ah! Either way, it smelt divine. It made her want to curl up to him closer and--

Bloody hell, she was going crazy.

She flinched very lightly as she heard his unexpected voice, turning her head slightly to look at him, "I completely agree; their expressions, the pain in their eyes... such an ill-fated love story," She smiled, thrilled that he not only had seen the movie before, but liked it enough to engage in conversation about it, "When I was younger I used to imagine that I was Ilsa," She laughed, "Though it sounds silly now, I suppose it was the romantic in me."

OMG I have not forgotten about this, I was swamped with work and just got back to playing in the past week. :) ♥ *bows at your feeeeet*

Anyway, there's this gaaaame... and I was thinking, 'Hey, I wonder if Tori would be interested in moving Audrey and Preston over there and keeping their SLs/past from Lifesong...?'

:D

At least it would be more active than here. :( My sad game is dead, woe!

*uses sexy Preston icon*

Let me know! I'll go ahead and hold Kevin asap if so. ♥

heeeeeeey! Don't even worry about it -- I am mostly swamped all the time as well, and the other times too brain dead to do much of anything, so I understand completely. :)

but yeah! I'm up for a move!! I'm sad that this place has come to a halt, but I guess that's understandable since it was only a few of us playing... and then we all got busy with life. lol. Is this other Crystal and Lena's game?

Anyway, yessss. hold him, and I shall hold Audrey, and it shall be a party. :D

OMG lol that was fast. :D

Exactly. This game is pretty small right now, but so far it's a LOT of characters and we all are pretty active. And no, it's a spin-off of one of their games.

HOLDING! :D YAY.

Hee! :D Preston/Audrey distraction FTW.

<3333 ILU! And I'm excited that we will play lots and lots again! Because... I WILL NOT FAIL IN THIS GAME. Especially since I don't mod it. That's like the kiss of death for me, I think.

Aaaand. I'm assuming they'll be in London again? Same age? Idk, I just don't want their apps to be mismatched!

Sabrina and Hermeh -- IDK if you've ever played with them but they're awesome. :)

I say yes to London; I can't imagine them not British. And yeah, I'm keeping everything in Preston's app the same, except for adapting things to his reincarnation. :D

Yes to Hermeh, and no to Sabrina... :D

Agreed -- them not being British is just a WEIRD concept! lol. And alright, I'll bump you later if I have any other questions... I'll have to get used to the whole reincarnation thing, but it sounds like a fun game!
