About: | Legend - according to Oxford Dictionary of English Folklore - is a short traditional oral narrative about a person, place, or object that really exists, existed, or is believed to have existed [...] it offers information, moral judgements, or warnings which reflect the preoccupations of the hearers. In every legend there is a grain of truth. They combine facts and fiction, history and fantasy, and are often connected to objects, landmarks or buildings. Diabeł Boruta - drzeworyt z "Tygodnika Ilustrowanego" według pomysłu Juliusza Kossaka wykonał H. Kubler Boruta The Devil - a woodcut from "Tygodnik Ilustrowany" made by H. Kubler after Juliusz Kossak's drawing This is a place where you can tell us your favourite legends and explain what part of it was based on actual events. There is only one condition: this have to be about a place/object you visited/saw personally. You have to have been there, seen this place and taken some pictures. Post them along with the legend and some historical background, as well as your own impression on the site/subject. 1. Have fun posting and reading stories ;) 2. Be nice. Every issue can be addressed in a polite manner. 3. Every post have to contain at least one photo taken by you. Other photos/graphics are allowed as long as posting them doesn't violate copyrights or common internet courtesy (when the image isn't copyrighted). You're more than welcome to provide links to such images. 4. Submission format: Title: Title Told by: yourijname Place: Country, town, name of the building, or detailed address if it's in a big city with many historical objects (the idea behind this is to let others find and see this place) 5. No more than 1 photo without a lj-cut (what lj-cut is and how it's done) 6. Tag your post with your IJ name and the country of legend's origin. 7. No contemporary legends. Let's say that they have to be at least 100 years old. This community is mirrored on GreatestJournal, InsaneJournal and LiveJournal Questions concerning legend_tellers should be posted as comments to the first post. | ||||||||||
