If you're nervous
Erato - Aimée - was never nervous about auditioning. Ever. There was just no need.
This time was a little different, though. She'd talked to Charlie about playing at the Well before she'd talked to Dionysus about the state of things with the Society, and even then she hadn't entirely taken the suggestion seriously. She hadn't really known she'd keep seeing him when it first came up, after all. Charlie of course didn't know her beyond her human identity, so backing out might seem odd or ungrateful. She'd considered telling him who she was, but again, what Dionysus had said stuck with her. She trusted Charlie, but she also liked him and didn't really want to put him in an awkward position unnecessarily.
Which meant that now she was meeting the owner of the Well, who was properly Society, and he might recognize her. Or he might not. She really didn't know how these things worked, but she had never been one to grab the spotlight like Aphrodite. Maybe this would all be much easier than she feared. If not, well, maybe she'd have to make her apologies to Charlie and quietly disappear.
Gods, she didn't want that.
With a deep breath, Aimée pushed open the door and stepped into the afternoon quiet of the bar. She was wearing a silk top, similar to her dresses, and a pair of denim shorts which would make it easier to get comfortable with her guitar than a dress would. Without flashing someone, anyway, and she was really trying to ping as 'normal' as much as possible today. Not that Charlie was here to notice the slight difference in clothing, she'd deliberately chosen a time when he said he'd be 'free' - so not at work. She'd meet up with him later if this wasn't a complete disaster.
Putting on one of her warm and friendly smiles, she approached a waitress and asked for Jake. She followed the woman's nod towards the staff room and knocked, adjusting her guitar on her back and gods, when had she ever been this nervous? She honestly couldn't remember.
