Duty.
In the grand scheme of things, one night of lost sleep was nothing. A blink, much like he imagined his life was to someone like Dionysus. Not that he was thinking about the god. That wasn't what had kept him up all night, and up wasn't even the right word. Awake. He'd been awake all night because he'd been thinking about things. Other things. Namely, about what he was going to tell Mr. Thalbo about his first interaction with one of the Pantheon. And what he'd leave out. There was no need to tell his supervisor that Dionysus had kissed him - several times. Nor was there any need to say that he'd kissed the god back. He would, however, have to mention the part about Dionysus wanting to have dinner with him tonight. But he could keep it business-oriented. After all, it's not like Mr. Thalbo would ever imagine what had gone on in the suite; why would he? Gideon didn't date anyone, let alone their enemies, and despite a little bump in the road, he didn't intend to start now. Dinner tonight would be a meeting, not a date. End of story.
Feeling better now that he'd straightened things out in his mind, Gideon slowed the treadmill down and grabbed a towel to wipe off his face. The hotel's gym was empty this early in the morning, and there was something about the solitude that settled him. He'd spent an hour with the weights and another one on the treadmill, which meant that Mr. Thalbo was most likely awake and ready to meet. Pulling his headphones out of his ears, he stopped the machine completely and stepped off, as relaxed as he'd been since he'd arrived in Vegas. Relaxed and ready, he decided, to face whatever came out of the meeting, as well as whatever happened on his...other meeting tonight.
The locker room was as empty as the gym had been, but Gideon kept his back turned as he got into the shower, the feeling of solitude having been replaced by one that someone was there. He laughed at himself for thinking of the line from Ocean's Eleven - which he'd watched the night before flying out - 'Someone's always watching,' and finished showering with his eyes searching the ceiling for cameras. "Stupid," he muttered to himself as he got dressed. No one was watching, no one was there. Dionysus had probably already forgotten their meeting, and he'd end up having to find another one of the gods to get information from. A less...handsy one, if possible.
With a last glance behind him, Gideon exited the locker room and wandered the hall until he found the elevator that would take him back up to their suite. There had been no formal direction about where he and Mr. Thalbo would be meeting, but the room was a good place to wait. If Two wasn't there, then he could always call and order some souffle from room service. Lips quirking up in a smile, he opened the door and walked in - and immediately schooled his face into something more appropriate.
"Good morning, sir."
