There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared...
That morning, Artemis walked for a long time, away from her camp. It was not the distance that mattered, but the difficulty for someone else - for her twin - to find it, should he fail to listen to her and get the better of her. She did not like having to think of such possibilities, but of course she would, and while Orion was off working rather than at her camp, she would not risk any of her attendants falling prey to her brother's wrath.
She settled in a clearing on the side of the mountain, the sun shining down on her in one of her reddish brown tunics, and focused on Apollo, her heart squeezing tight with her desire to see him. She would stand when he came, and trusted that he would, but for now she folded her legs under herself and leaned on one hand, focusing on the thought of him rather than on the conflicted feelings inside her.
