Alex didn't go out all that often, really, because bars certainly weren't anything like the pubs at home were. Going out and grabbing a drink at one wasn't something you could really do on a daily basis - but once in a while, Alex liked to relax as much as the next person. He'd had a good week and a good weekend, for the most part, but he'd spent it in the company of his work which, as much as he loved some of it, could get really sort of dull.
What he needed, or so he'd been told over and over, was to get out and see people once in a while, so going out it was. He was definitely not in a mood for one of the louder clubs, and he had definitely not made enough to try his luck in one of the casinos, so he picked the third option: a bar.
Good drinks, decent enough music to sit and listen to, and not loud enough that he couldn't conduct some sort of conversation with someone should the chance arise. He found himself a seat at the bar and leaned over to order a gin and tonic. As much as he'd have liked to order a beer, some things were better left alone and American beer was one of those things.
Drink in hand, Alex found himself glancing around the room, simply looking for the sake of observing the other patrons of the bar.
