Who: Jack Sparrow & OTA
When: Day Two, early afternoon
What: Time for some entertainment
Where: Fair grounds
Rating: PG-13 (bit of an adult idea)
Status: Incomplete

Jack had passed the first night in the strange place with the same amount of comfort as he would have in any new and unfamiliar ship. His ears remained alert, even as his mind slept, for sounds of mutiny or, in the worse case scenario, Davy Jones's Kraken. The one which had attempted to eat him moments before he'd found himself standing in front of the sparkling man who had made even Jack look silly. He had, needlessly to say, not slept wonderfully and was therefore somewhat cranky and in need of a bit of refreshment and entertainment when the sun had finally reached the mid-point of the sky.

Taking himself outside and into the city proper, he had seen what looked like the tail end of a baudy dance hall gown fluttering around a corner and he was certainly in the mood for a little spank and tickle with a few ladies and a few bottles of rum after what he'd been through.

He'd always been the sort to make the best of a bad situation and seeing as he had just been nearly eaten by a huge beasty on the high seas because the lovely Elizabeth Swann had suddenly decided to be more "Jack-like." Therefore he was not of a mind to go finding a way back any time soon. Especially not if there was women and booze and perhaps drunken singing to be had. So he wandered away from the dispersing crowd without spending a lot of time looking at them. They'd appeared a motley crew at best, not unlike some of his previous ship crews, and the very tall woman in the leather had given him some pause. He hadn't been sure whether to appreciate her legs or run screaming in the opposite direction in case she decided to hurt him.

So there he was, following a skirt and getting a bit lost. Which was fine with him though perhaps a bit of company was in order. He cast his eyes about and spotted someone then. "Pardon me, have you seen the tavern?" he asked.

Snape was standing in a side street, arms folded, glaring at his surroundings. Having spent the night in the room provided for him, he was rather put out by its lack of special features. In particular, he was not at all pleased by its lack of a complete potions laboratory, complete with a fully-stocked cupboard of reagents. Perhaps his time on Mirage has spoiled him, but by Merlin, he had enjoyed being spoiled!

So it was that he was not in a particularly good mood when a slovenly man in a rather shabby pirate costume called out to him. Snape, irritated at having been disturbed by a stranger, hoped he might be able to ignore the fellow, but looking around, he noticed he was the only person in the street.

"The tavern? No. You'll have to ask someone else. Perhaps you should try someone drunk."

Jack cocked his head slightly and removed his hat with a flourish to bow slightly to the stately looking man. The tone of the man's voice suggested that he was probably very important and Jack was never averse to paying a little respect to his elders, however facetious he was truly being in the process.

Keeping his eyes lowered, hat pressed firmly to his chest, he smiled slightly as he spoke in an even and friendly tone.

"Ah good sir, but you see you are the first person I have come across in quite some time. Are you sure you would not like to accompany me on a quest to find a drink or two and perhaps a few pretty dresses to go with them?"

He lifted his eyes just a little to see how the man reacted to his playacting before standing straight again, re-positioning his hat and giving the man a very charming smile. Then his brow furrowed slightly and he asked somewhat slyly but with as much concern as he could mustr into his expression, "You're not a eunuch are you?"

Snape watched the pirate-man's antics with a mixture of fascination and revulsion. It was almost grotesque, the way he fawned and faked himself, feigning class and courtesy while the vulgarity of his speech betrayed his gutter nature. He was a complete fool. However... Snape stared at Jack for some moments before responding carefully. Come to think of it, he could use a drink. Being torn from his comfortable existence on Mirage and thrust into this ridiculous and much less accomodating place was certainly taking its toll on his nerves... Why the hell not?

"No, I am not a eunuch, and yes, I will join you for a drink; though I warn you, if we do not find the tavern in a short period of time, I shall abandon you once more to your own fortune."

Having made his declaration, the black-garbed potioneer crossed his arms and gave Jack a slightly impatient look, as if to demand that he lead on.

The man's long pause before responding was enough to make Jack want to wrinkle his nose. Sure some people were important and he was no one to say otherwise. But it was the ones who were self-important that he counted as classless. Even though he, himself, was rather the king of self-importance. There was only room for one of that sort in his life.

He contained himself however, managing to not express his irritation with the other man's posturing. He had found that after a few pints, any man was a great drinking mate. He was sure this man would be no different.

Jack smiled magnanimously and straightened, returning his hat to his head. "Your wish is my command, good sir. Let us find someone drunk and then the tavern. You'll not be disappointed. I can almost guarantee that."

Turning from the impatient expression on his new found companion's face, Jack set off in the direction he'd been going, following where he thought he'd seen the edge of a dance hall gown. He didn't glance over his shoulder to see if the other man followed because he had barely turned a corner when his eyes caught sight of something promising. A pint of grog above the door and the sound of raucous music filtering out onto the street. Slightly taken aback at having found it so easily, he chuckled.

"Voila! A tavern."

Nodding, Snape followed Jack down the street and around the corner. He was hoping, now, that they would find a pub, and soon. He was as surprised as Jack, however, that one was found so quickly.

It was a noisy place, no doubt crowded with lurching drunkards and unwashed prostitutes, but all that mattered to Snape was that the beer wasn't watered down and nobody tried to stab him. Following the pirate, the potions-master entered the establishment, and looked around.

"Well, it looks like you've found enough drunks to keep yourself in fine company. Some of these... creatures seem inebriated enough to set fire to a sheep."

Spotting an almost free half-yard of bar space, Snape made his way over to it and brushed it free of cracked nut-shells. He expected Jack would follow him, since that was the general direction of the barkeep as well.
