It was still raining come nightfall and Bella really didn't want to go back outside. She'd spent the morning out in it, talking to Eragon, and had returned to her room looking like a drowned rat. She'd immediately gotten into a steaming hot shower and stood there until she'd warmed herself to the core. Wrapping herself in one of the thick towels provided for her, she wanted nothing more than to crawl back under her blankets and never come back out. What stopped her was the realization that in the 24 hours she'd been in the strange land, she hadn't stopped to eat. Whenever she was anxious, stressed or depressed she had the tendency to lose her appetite and since the small city far from her family and friends seemed to evoke all three emotions, it was no wonder that come mid-afternoon she still hadn't gotten herself something to eat. She resolved to do the responsible thing and head out to the food tents, but found herself dawdling because of the rain. It wasn't until twilight that she finally headed out, rain jacket back on, a fresh outfit in place of the one she'd muddied that morning.

She found the food tent after a careful amount of searching and even though the smells did little to arouse her appetite, she ate a plate full of eggs and potatoes anyway. When she was done she zipped up her coat reluctantly, and headed back out into the cold rainy night. She kept her head ducked, her hood doing as much as it could to keep her dry, and trudged in what she thought was the direction of the dorms. Darkness proved challenging when coupled with the unfamiliar landscape, and when she'd walked for what seemed like a full 10 minutes, she finally noticed that she'd moved past the buildings of the city, and away from her desired destination. Looking up suddenly, she groaned...she would have to turn around, which meant more trudging. She looked around her, hoping that maybe she'd be able to stop and rest somewhere, but there was only a forest to the left. "When did that get there?" She wondered aloud. Was it possible she'd just completely missed it in her stupor the day before?

Thinking about her arrival brought her thoughts to other arrivals--Eragon and Saphira this morning. She wondered what Saphira was doing now, whether the giant dragon was settled in for the night or had gone out to play in the rain. She pictured Saphira splashing around in the puddles again and it brought a smile to her face--a smile that soon faded. If Saphira, a dragon, had been brought to this place, then what else had? Buffy had mentioned vampires in her journal and suddenly Bella wished she'd payed more attention to where she was going. She threw a cautious glance toward the woods beside her and the started waking toward the lights of the city again. She walked faster than was probably safe, but slower than she would have liked. She watched the ground as she went, feeling tense and uneasy, and yet she still managed to miss a large rock embedded in the ground, only finding it when her toe collided with it violently. She stumbled, yelping loudly in pain, taking a hop step before managing to save herself from falling. She whimpered, holding her toe, jumping in place. She was close enough to the town that someone could have heard her, and embarrassment replaced nervousness when she realized how foolish she must look to anyone who might have heard or seen her. Instinctively, she looked up and around to see if anyone had seen her, and oddly enough she was sure someone was out there. "Hello?" She called out, before thinking better of it a moment later.

Spending time with Tara had been a great pleasure to her as well as something that was painfully uncomfortable, the blonde witch was in her mind her soul mate and always would be so the awkward tension between them was something she wished she could make disappear but that was in fact a mistake she had made in the past and something she would never date meddle with again. Willow was going to have to deal with the way things were between them or figure out a way to make things better, there had to be something that could erase the tension, she also knew her persistence wasn't helping any. “Leave her alone and she'll come home.” She thought to herself with a giggle. Willow was on the path a few steps a head of where the kitchen tent had been walking back towards the city at a slow place more into her own mind then her surroundings. Being a Wicca her senses were strong enough that if danger approached her that she would know and be ready so getting caught up inside herself was safe.

She hugged herself as she walked and marveled in the fact that even under the caress of the full moon and surrounded by friends she felt so alone. Her conversation earlier that day with Buffy had gone as she expected, the much younger version of her friend had been overwhelmed by the information she shared and it would take time for it all to sink in. The only comfort she had once more was herself and her surroundings, getting to know them seemed to be the best idea at the time. It was also interesting how she felt shy towards other people again for the first time in years.

Stopping in her tracks her thoughts changed as she felt a presence near by, she closed her eyes to focused feeling a sense of fear. She then heard the panic educed yelp coming from behind her. Willow doubled back back along the track and walked with a quickened pace towards the sound. Her vision had been surprisingly good in the dark and after numerous nights of patrolling she could find her way easily. Looking around she followed her instincts and came to where she thought she heard the noise from and sure enough there was a figure in the woods, she could make out as a young girl. Once closer Willow could tell she was in fact hurt. Before she spoke she did a quick check around for any imitate danger. “Don't be frightened” The red-head exclaimed in a calm tone. “I'm Willow, looks like you lost a fight with mother nature yes?” She laughed a little. “She can be a spiteful wench at times, I can help you find the way back if you like.” Willow was in plain sight of the other girl now so her smile would appear friendly and warm.

The fear and anxiety Bella felt was almost palpable as someone appeared in the darkness. Her muscles tensed and there was a possibility that she might just have a heart attack at the young age of 17... until a voice accompanied the shadow shape, and the person came more into view. Bella's muscles relaxed so much she wasn't sure they'd be able to hold her anymore, what with the hopping on one leg at least. The female voice was light and unintimidating, and her comment about mother nature made Bella give a half laugh that melted into a grimace as she set her foot gently back on the ground. "Yeah." She admitted, looking embarrassed. "We fight a lot." She added, offering a weak smirk. "She usually wins." She finished glumly.

In light of the woman's kind offer, Bella couldn't help but feel silly for her fear a moment ago. Everyone she'd met had been so nice. "Thanks." She nodded, "I'd really appreciate that." She tested her foot by putting some weight on it and though the action caused her to wince, she could tell it wasn't broken. She took a hobbling step toward the stranger and tried another polite smile, "I was coming home from dinner and lost my way." She admitted. "I'm Bella." She said, introducing herself to the kind stranger.

"I doubt you are the first or last person to get lost around here, don't worry about it. Oh I fight with her often too, just on other matters like
hiding the moon on me during a night I need her." The red-head babbled.

“Blessed Be to you then Bella.” She smiled using a cheery tone. “If you trusted me I could heal it for you. I um have that ability” She nodded. “There are a lot of things are strange around here and I guess I'm not much of an exception. I'm a witch but more like Glenda instead of in the wicket ways of the west.” She laughed. “So I don't mind helping out, I'd just need you to take off the sneaker and the sock so I could get a better look at it and use some of the bibbity boppity boo.” She giggled. “Ok, so not so much but you get the idea right?” She was hoping to ease the situation with her humor.

When the red head got going she was one to ramble and go on about just about anything and everything, it was one of her predominant traits. She hoped she wouldn't scare the girl off but she seemed like an intelligent individual. "So what's your story if you don't mind me asking?" She questioned.

Whether Willow knew it or not, her babbling was very comforting. In a way, she reminded Bella of a less flakey version of her mother, Renee. Renee was always sunshine and happiness, bouncing from one thing to the next, never letting a situation deter her, or a topic go untouched. The thought made Bella's heart ache for a moment, and she had to take a deep breath and push back all thoughts of her mother before they pulled her too far into nostalgic ennui. She would see her flighty best friend again, she had to believe that, and until then she would just have to hold it together and try to keep herself busy. This wasn't hard, as she had no idea what Willow was talking about in regards to the moon, and confusion was a great distracter. She furrowed her brow, looking puzzled for a moment, but that was all the time the Wiccan allowed before switching topics and so Bella didn't bother questioning. Everyone in the city seemed to be unusual in some way, so she was pretty accepting of little peculiarities at this point. That's why she didn't even flinch when Willow introduced herself as a witch.

There was a time lag of a few seconds as Bella processed this fact and then looked down at her foot. She'd just stubbed her toe a good one—she'd done much worse in times past—but it would be nice to walk home without that dull throb that comes with the return of sensation and blood… "It's just a stubbed toe." She said finally, deciding that it would be too much work to sit down, take off her shoe and sock and have her toe healed. It would be fine by morning, she was sure, and she would probably just hurt herself more if she tried to balance on one foot while Willow did her Wicca thing. "Thank you for the offer though." She added, not wanting to be rude, "And for the help finding the dorms." She offered a smile, hoping there would be no hard feelings.

She moved forward then, meeting Willow to begin the walk, and began answering her question, though it always made her a little uncomfortable talking about herself. She never considered herself that interesting. "Not much of a story." She admitted with a shrug, hunching a little as they walked. "I'm just a high school student from Arizona originally," She looked up then to see if there was any recognition in Willow's face at the mention of her home state, and then continued, "But I'd just moved in with Charlie, my Dad, when I got here. He's from this small town called Forks, in Washington." She felt another rise of worry for Charlie and she quickly swallowed it down. "I don't really know anyone here," She continued, "Except for this one boy who I had class with for a day." She gave a wry smirk, thinking about being trapped with the mysterious Edward Cullen, whom she still hadn't seen (and was still convinced held some unknown slight against her), and then frowned. That only made her feel a little lonelier and so she quickly changed the subject to Willow, wanting another cheerful reminder of the person she missed most in the world. "How about you?" She asked, "Where are you from?" She asked, hoping she'd have heard of it this time
