"That would be difficult for me to answer without truly knowing your father," Victoire replied, pouring herself a drink. "Perhaps if you sent a note along with the money explaining your motive, he won't be as quick to be offended." She recalled her own father, who would have been very stubborn and incredibly insulted if she had tried to support him after he lost his job. But not everyone was a stubborn Parisian.
"Besides, with a war on, people have started doing things you never expected of them. I hope your troubles won't linger and that things will be better for your family soon." She gave the man a small smile.
