Long Walk

After watching Sting be towed to the lift up to the flight deck, Dani gave a small sigh and shook her head. The whole situation with Anika and Jill just sat wrong with her, it seemed out of character for Jill to attack another person without cause and for the life of her she couldn't think of what Anika could have done to deserve that.

Another head shake and Dani put the thoughts out of her mind for now. She had a long walk to get back to her quarters and she wasn't looking forward to it. The trip down here had taken a lot out of her, and if it hadn't been an emergency she wouldn't have left the quarters she shared with Rhys at all.

Interpersonal Relations

Alice had been told that the Shangri-La was elaborately designed, set up for her passengers to relax in a fair amount of luxury, but she was unprepared for the reality when she first stepped off of the transport. She got a brief tour from the guide, who showed her how to get to her quarters, then was left to her own devices. She'd had no leave time in over a year, and the last time she'd taken a break from her duties she'd spent it on-board the Avalon because she'd been unable to cope with even the idea of a lot of strangers. But the tournament had sounded like fun, even if she'd only be watching, and she was trying to work her way out of her self-imposed shell.

Feeling dwarfed by the larger open space, the mechanic made her way down the wide corridor, having decided to visit the main biodome. She meant to try and catch up with Gaither, since he'd invited her to his wedding. Maybe she'd try and get through dinner with him. It could be her first test, provided he wasn't in a coma from the games. And this was the first time she'd been out of coveralls in...months. Gods, she felt almost like a person again.

Among Friends...Sort Of )

Dani almost asked Alice if she'd given any more thought to trying out for flight training, but decided not to. The other woman was obviously trying to relax and enjoy herself, and Dani would respect that. She'd gotten the other woman to come out of her shell a little today, and that was victory enough.

"II enjoyed talking with you too, Alice, are you leaving? I hope I'm not chasing you out of here," Dani protested, not wanting the other woman to feel she had to rush off because of her. "Rhys should be along soon if you wanted to say hello."

"No, actually," Alice said, rising from her seat. "I had intended to go further into the dome and sit for a while. I wouldn't want to interrupt anything between you and Gaither." Which was both the truth and a polite lie, since she wasn't sure she'd be able to deal with both of them at once. Just the little glimpse she'd gotten of them that day in the hangar deck said they were very much in love. Talking with one of them alone was enough for one day. Later, she'd try again with both of them, but not now.

"I'll be sure and catch up with you later to thank him personally for the invitation," she added with another reserved attempt at a smile. "Both of you are very lucky."

She took her leave then, headed further into the recesses of the biodome. To sit where it was quietest and think, so that she could make sense of the new path she was being put on.
