The waiting time
It had been several hours since she had returned from the Concord and her last session with Dr. Hanover. The Avalon had jumped away for the salvage mission during her therapy session, so there was not a lot to do but wait for its safe return. At the most it might only take no less than 48 hours for the entire operation to get enough materials to fill the freighters and return to the fleet.

Inside one of the larger cafeterias inside the Shangri-la, Jilleen sat at a table meant for two by herself. She read from a novel as she slowly ate from her salad bowl. She could have ate back at the Sertorius suite, but the Prime Minister had recently gave an address, and she really wasn’t in a mood to talk about fleet politics.

Dani was thoroughly sick of lying in bed. There were only so many times she could play solitare or play the flight sim that Vosca had given her before she went crazy, and she wasn't in the mood to read a book.

The young woman wasn't going to violate doctor's orders again either, though. She knew how close a call she'd had before and didn't want to do anything that could hurt her babies or herself. With that thought in mind, she hauled herself into the wheelchair and rolled out of the cabin.

There was a cafeteria fairly close by, so Dani figured she'd get a small bowl of soup or a salad and maybe she'd run into someone she knew. At this point she'd even welcome that old busybody who'd wanted to know every detail of her life when she'd come over the month before.

After she finished reading a chapter and laid down her book, and took a moment to look around when she noticed an oversized brunette in a wheelchair rolled into the cafeteria. Daniella was almost unrecognizable to her in this setting. Jilleen was not used to seeing the soon expecting pilot in her new civilian clothes and confined to a wheelchair.

She had never got a reply to that letter she sent when Daniella arrived and had not talked to the woman since her last day on Avalon. Those that arranged for Daniella’s stay might not have encouraged any contact with her or Daniella could simply still be upset with her.

Jilleen got up from her chair anyway. She would greet her none the less. If anything she could inquire about her stay and to see how she was doing.

She walked up behind Daniella before she got to the start of the meal line. “Daniella, hello. How are you?” asked Jilleen with a pleasant smile.

"Jilleen!" Dani glanced up in surprise and craned her neck around to look at the other officer. "Hello there."

She felt a little guilty. Dani had meant to respond to the other woman's letter, but had gotten distracted and forgotten that she hadn't until just now. Chalk it up to pregnancy brain, she guessed.

"It's good to see you. I'm doing as well as can be expected I guess." She patted her very swollen midsection with a wry smile. "Waiting on these two to decide its time to come out in a few weeks."

She was also worried sick about Rhys and her fellow pilots on Avalon, but tried not to show her concern.

“I bet.” She looked down toward the pregnant woman. “Those two have only begun to take all your time.” She was happy to see Daniella again. “Can I help you with your tray?” She meant to help carry her tray while she gather her meal.

"Don't I know it!" Dani chuckled as she rolled forward in line. "They'll probably eat up every bit of mine and Rhys's time for the next twenty years, but I'm looking forward to it."

She nodded in agreement at the other woman's offer of help. "That would be nice, thank you." Dani handed the tray over to Jilleen and moved forward.

"How have you been doing? I meant to reply to your letter but time slipped away."

“I’ve been trying to keep myself occupied,” she slid the plastic tray along the metal guide. “This leave has been good for me.” She was not sure if Daniella knew that she had been forced to see a counselor. There was no telling what she heard.

“House salad or Caesar salad?” asked Jilleen at the salad bar.

"House will be fine, thank you." Dani told her.

"What have you been doing on leave?"

Jilleen grabbed the house salad with the fixings already set aside in packages to be added in at the person preference. The cafeteria was mostly self service and even though the Agriculture project has provide much for the fleet, there were still limitations. Jilleen added the fruit of the day to the tray as well.

“Going a bit mad,” she replied and then continued to fill DanI’s tray with what she requested before moving back to her table with her.

Sitting across from Daniella, she lean in. “You must have heard a few rumors why I been sent away from Avalon?” She looked quickly around to make sure there were no one around to ease drop and then return her attention to the pregnant woman.

“Its not all about what happened between me and your friend last week. No, that was only a symptom. I’m seeing a psychotherapist on Concord. I might as will tell you, secrets are hard to keep for long in this fleet.” Her lips formed a brief thin smile. “The admiral thought it would best I seek immediate therapy before I lost my way completely. She forced this leave I suppose, for me to think very hard about the things I've discovered about myself in my sessions so far.”

After she was finished with her last sentence. A chime sounded and repeated again over the intercom that was heard through out the resort liner, then followed by an announcement.

“Attention, Attention, all crew members report to emergency stations. Cylon attack in progress. Prepare for emergency FTL Jump…Attention all passengers , Cylon attack in progress, we ask all those in exposed areas of the ship, such as the bio-domes, please make your way quickly to the nearest exit to a protective area. ” The voice of the ship’s officer was calm but stern. They had repeated this scenario hundreds of times in the last three years, though it had been a few weeks since the last attack the seriousness of the situation was not forgotten. Especially now with only less than half of the strike group there to protect the fleet.
