Burk had a sip from his coffee cup when a low audible alarm went off at one of the stations near the command table in Combat. He turned his head toward the direction of the alarm.

“Sir, we are detecting an energy reading from one of the reactors aboard the Colossus.” the officer at the station paused for a beat. “None were planned to be put back online.” added the officer.

“Inform the Admiral’s bridge.” He turned to the officer standing on his left. “Tactical, Action Stations, set ship to Condition One.” His response to the situation was automatic, it was better to get everyone’s attention for possible enemy action. If this turned out to be some kind of false reading, there would be no harm. “Inform the CAP of the situation and to keep their eyes open, I don‘t want any uninvited guest slipping through the asteroid field”

The intercom came alive. “ACTION STATIONS, ACTION STATIONS, SET SHIP TO CONDITION ONE.” The action alarm sounded and the crew began to hurry to their stations.
