Character Name: Seishirou
Series Taken From: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Point Taken from Canon: Post Chapter 175
Character Age: Appears to be in mid or early twenties
Special Abilities: He uses magic often, most of which is offensive. He can create a sword with this magic as well. He is very fast, fast enough to keep up with a Vampire.

Background:

Not much is known about the background of Seishirou.. What is known is that he is/was a Vampire Hunter that traded his eye to Ichihara Yuuko in order to travel through worlds. This is done in pursuit of the pure blood vampire twins, Subaru and Kamui. In his travels, he comes to Clow Country and meets a young Syaoran. At that time, he saves Syaoran from a group of thugs that were attacking him for the book he had. It’s at this time that he teaches the boy how to fight with a blind eye in exchange for learning how to read a book that deals with Vampires.

After this, Syaoran and company runs into him again in the country of Oto. There he has learned how to manipulate the Oni in their game in such away that he is disrupting the system. Even there he is searching for the twins unceasingly. Coming into contact with Syaoran, Seishirou quickly removes him from the game along with his other companions. Reappearing in the real world, Seishirou fights against Kurogane as he has possession of one of Sakura’s feathers. Syaoran tries hard to retrieve it, only he fails as Seishirou moves on to another world.

Later, he reappears again in Nihon with the real Syaoran and others. There he inquires about the whereabouts of the twins, but finds that they are not there. As he is about to leave, the real Syaoran challenges him in order to regain the feather. While they are fighting, the feather seems to slip from Seishirou’s control and it acts as a gateway into the dream world that Sakura is trapped in. After Syaoran leaves through this method, Seishirou doesn’t deny it when Fuuma says that he had intended to return it all along.

The only relative that is known for Seishirou is another Hunter named Fuuma. This is his younger brother who is working for Yuuko by treasure hunting. It is through his introduction along with Subaru’s that it is revealed that Seishirou was saved in some way through the use of Subaru’s blood.

Personality:

Seishirou is very calm and quiet. He is frequently seen smiling. At first appearance he comes off as very kind, even thoughtful. His time with Syaoran is testament to this belief. Only there seems to be an obsession with finding Subaru, the pure blood vampire. His motives are unclear as to why he is searching. Though he seems laid back, he is a fierce fighter that will use any means to attain his goal. Is he truly a kind person? Or is this only a cover for his true face? That is something that must be decided by all those that meet him.

Writing Sample for Character:

How did he get here? He wasn’t all that sure. As he’d attempted to change worlds from Nihon, it felt as though he’d been caught in a riptide and shoved into this new world. This place was so different than what he’d experienced before. It seemed as though half of the buildings there were destroyed, but it seemed as if the people were moving about like nothing was wrong. Mismatched eyes scanned over the horizon and paused as he caught sight of the large pyramid like structure in the distance. Brilliant lights flickered within it twinkling on the darkening horizon.

Canting his head to the side, he felt a certain sense of wonder. Something wasn’t quite right here. The mere taste of magic on the air was enough to make him give pause. It was almost as if the balance had been disrupted somehow. Well then, he’d just have to look around. Who knew when his quarry might appear here in this world? For all he knew, perhaps they already had.

( I threw this together as a guide for other writers. You may write your character in any situation, but this can also be used as your initial post in your journal. Just be sure to stay in character and write enough to give the mods a good idea of your writing skills.)

Character Name: Sakurazuka Seishirou
Series Taken From: X 1999
Point Taken from Canon: Pre Rainbow Bridge
Character Age: 34
Special Abilities: Onmyoujitsu and illusions.

Background:

Seishirou was born to the previous Sakurazukamori, Setsuka. As a teen, he killed his mother in order to take her place as the blossom star. The line of Sakurazukamori is that of an assassin. Called a group, this is a cover for the truth. There is only one Sakurazukamori and that one must kill all those close to him/her. In this way, he killed his predecessor and took her place as the “Cherry Tree Assassin” that is generally employed by the government. Just like his mother, he seems void of emotions and incapable of love. Bound to the Sakura Barrow, he must feed the soul and blood of humans to it in order to survive and to complete his duty.

The Sakurazukamori is the dark side of yin-yang onmyoujutsu. In this way, he is the opposite side of the coin that represents the light, the Sumeragi clan. As a teen he met the future 13th head of the Sumeragi clan. There he was stunned by the kindness of the boy’s heart. So intrigued, he decides to make a bet with the young Subaru. The bet stated that he would live with the boy for one year. In that year he would try to love him, and should he fall in love with Subaru, he would let him live at the close of the year.

Later on he sees Subaru again, no longer a child, at the age of 16. The Sumeragi head was seen running through the subway in pursuit of a Shikigami. He was easily spotted by the marks that he had left on the boy’s hands. This started the year that they lived together. He spent much time protecting and remaining close to Subaru and his twin Hokuto; he even lost his right eye protecting Subaru. Yet, by the end of the time period, he stated that Subaru had lost the bet. Breaking Subaru’s heart, he leaves him in a catatonic state rather than taking his life. After this, in order to save her brother from this state, Hokuto sacrifices her life to bring him back. After killing Hokuto, Seishirou disappeared completely from Subaru’s life for 9 years.

Reappearing at the start of X, Seishirou is now has the role of a “Dragon of Earth”. He is first seen attacking Kamui and Kotori. Later he appears at Nakano Sun Plaza where he comes face to face with Subaru for the first time since he’d killed the Sumeragi’s twin sister. In the mean time following this, it appears that the Kamui of the Dragons of Earth has a strange interest in him. The two are similar in their strange humor, often acting silly. This is seen most blatantly in Tokyo Babylon when Seishirou talks to the penguins even though no one is there to see his show. They often talk in the series through playful dialogue. Seishirou was there the day that Fuuma took Subaru’s eye. He watched from a distance staying out of the fray. After this, Fuuma tells him that he is wrong about what Subaru truly wishes for leaving him in silent contemplation. For now, he is content to watch his prey that he allowed to get away so long ago.

Personality:

The current Sakurazukamori comes off as amiable and kind in all aspects. During the year with Subaru, he was everything anyone would want in a person. He was thoughtful and always considerate of both Subaru and Hokuto. There is rarely a time when he isn’t smiling or in some ways making a fool of himself. But as time goes on, it becomes obvious that this façade is no more than a ploy. To the world, Seishirou seems the good citizen. He even takes on the job of a Veterinarian to draw the Sumeragi in and appear to be a normal person.

In truth, he claims that he has no feelings. Humans and inanimate objects are similar to him. He describes them as a pretty, ornate cup. It is pleasing to the eye, but it does not matter if it’s broken. Setsuka told him as she died that he would die at the hands of the one he loved, but he claims that this will never happen. Seishirou doesn’t believe that he is capable of love. Now whenever he smiles, there is a hollow quality to his eyes as the gesture never becomes more than that. He truly hides behind a smile.

For the most part, Seishirou is very intelligent and still keeps a playful nature. It is only apparent that it is of a more sinister nature than he let on at the beginning. Regardless, even now, he is drawn to Subaru and he seems rather unwilling to let him go.

Writing Sample for Character:

This was Tokyo, but it wasn’t. There were intricate threads of magic that had always balanced the world out in subtle ways. But the magical aura here was anything but subtle. Stretching his senses thin, he tried to find something, anything that was familiar. Yet, there was nothing. Broken buildings stood littered amongst those still standing, and he realized that there was only a few parks still in existence.

Tipping a cigarette lightly into slender fingers, he twirled it into the right position before reaching for his lighter. Was this a dream? No, if it were, he’d still be able to feel that cold sensation in the back of his soul that was the tree. Only, that wasn’t in existence here. How… odd? How could something be one thing, and yet not? It was a paradox that he was curious to figure out.

Perhaps he wouldn’t be the only one here. Not that he really cared. What happened to him was inconsequential. Though, it would be nice to find out if Subaru-kun was around. Nice, indeed.

Character Name: Sorata Arisugawa
Series Taken From: X1999
Point Taken from Canon: Right before confronting Hinoto in Ch. 145
Character Age: 17
Special Abilities: He can generate lighting strikes and call upon a Gohoudouji (Avatar) to protect, spy, and fight on his behalf.

Background:Destined to be a Dragon of Heaven, Sorata was taken from his parents at a very young age. He was raised by Daemon Esoteric Buddhist monks on Mt. Koya, and later became a monk. He tended to be a very energetic, free spirited, and hungry child, despite being well fed. He would at times steal food from the monastery which got him in trouble with the other monks. As such he is a very good cook. The “old stargazer,” whom he apparently was close to at the monastery, had foretold that he would die for the woman he loves. Upon hearing this prediction he tells the stargazer that he hopes the one he loves is “a total babe.” Due to this prediction Sorata vows to protect Kamui with his life since Kamui is not one he will give his life for. He can generate lighting strikes and call upon a Gohoudouji (Avatar) to protect, spy, and fight on his behalf.

In his teens he meets Kamui practically forcing their friendship and vowing to protect the Kamui Dragon of Heaven with his life since his destiny is to die for another. Shortly after meeting Kamui he meets Arashi Kishu and instantly falls in love with her. The next day he decides she will be the one he will die for and has his Gohoudouji follow her to protect her if she is ever in mortal danger. He constantly declares his love and sacrifice for her. At first she displays apathy towards him and sees him as nothing more than a team mate and annoyance. In time Arashi realizes how warm and caring Sorata is and begins to love fall in love but keeps her feelings hidden. When Arashi and Yuzuriha fight Satsuki and Beast, Arashi is nearly killed. In that instant Sorata’s Avatar materializes and saves her but takes heavy damage. It is then realized that any damage taken by his Avatar, is also inflicted on Sorata. This action nearly kills Sorata leaving him in the hospital. Arashi watches over him and declares her feelings for him once he awakens. She implies that she does not want him to die for her but to live because she would not know what to do if he were gone. That night they make love for the first time. Arashi loses her powers as the Priestess of Ise upon losing her virginity to Sorata. Because of this she feels useless as a Dragon of Heaven and leaves secretly running to Princess Hinoto to seek assistance. Hinoto’s evil self, casts a spell on her that upon awakening she will lose all her memories and awaken a Dragon of Earth. When Sortata’s Avatar informs him of this he goes to Hinoto and demands that Arashi be returned to him.

Personality:Sorata comes off as very hyper and very happy, can make friends with just about anyone no matter how emo they think they are. Despite being taken from his family and knowing his fate he always has a positive attitude and often tends to goof around. His jubilance is such that even Kamui who at first displayed apathy to him warms up and becomes close friends. Arashi’s apathy is even more prevalent but due to his persistence and ability to brighten the lives of others she eventually falls for him and his childlike personality. He enjoys making light of almost any situation with a few exceptions (i.e. Arasi's disappearance). He even refers to his attempts to enamor Arashi as “hopeless come-ons.” He loves pointing out the beauty in all things even if he states it in a crude way, and is thus not beneath declaring the cuteness of a girl or guy for that matter. He even states how happy he is to protect such a cute person as Kamui and is especially happy that he is “surrounded by so may beautiful people.” He is highly protective of those he cares for and simply does not understand the meaning of personal space as he is often seen hugging or leaning on teammates. At first Arashi has no problem hitting him when he expresses such familiarity, but that later changes.

Writing Sample for Character:
He was gasping for air.
Did I fall? trip? I was gonna see that woman!!
But he was no longer on the same street. He was in the right city, but it was different. The buildings were still in ruins but some were back. He laughed a little.
This isn't home is it? I mean it is, but it isn't. It looks less horrible.
He nervously laughed, got up and dusted himself. He realized he was near the bay, stared at the pyramid for an instant before turning in the proper direction of the Diet Building.
I better make sure this is Tokyo! I've got no time to waste. I need to find Hinoto and bring back Arashi!
He was started to run but he was stopped by a woman.
"Hello sir, I think I can be of some help."

Character Name: Kamui
Series Taken From: Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
Point Taken from Canon:At the end of the Acid Tokyo arc, just after Syaoran and crew leave
Character Age: Indeterminate; appears to be late teens
Special Abilities:

Kamui possesses above human strength and speed with advanced regenerative abilities, something that can be passed to whoever he shares blood with. He appears to feel little to no pain and when truly pressed has the ability to elongate his fingers into talons for offensive/defensive purposes.

Background:

Kamui is first encountered by Syaoran and his friends in a dying Tokyo, a city slowly being eaten away by acid rain where water has become the most precious commodity on Earth. There are two human settlements left – one in the Diet Building and one in Tokyo Tower and both groups are waging a desperate battle to claim the remaining water sources. For reasons unknown, the Tower and the Diet building remain unscathed as the world around them has grown less and less hospitable, becoming a ruined wasteland riddled with dangerous sandworms (a mutation that arose sometime after the rains started falling and the world became a barren waste).

As the leader/protector of the Diet Building, Kamui arrived in Tokyo by unknown means and for reasons of his own after a bitter struggle with the humans living there, taking up their battle to protect and control the precious water that exists under the building from the humans living at the Tower. Kamui and his followers attempt to kill Syaoran and the others when they first arrive, thinking they are after the water and after a pitched, furious fight with Kurogane, it is revealed that Kamui is something more than human. This fight is interrupted by the arrival of Fuuma, the leader of Tokyo Tower and those under him, Kamui more interested in taking down what he perceives as the bigger threat to the water's safety. This fight like the others ends in a draw and it is not until they are in the safety of the Building that it's revealed to Syaoran and the others that Kamui fights not for the humans living in the building but for the water or rather something in the water and that he will do anything to protect it.

This is soon confirmed when Sakura's wandering spirit finds and gets too close to a cocoon hidden in the pool, one made of water and magic, pulled in and causing a reaction that reveals one of her feathers. After she re-absorbs her feather, the protection surrounding the Diet Building is gone and the rain begins to decimate the building, Kamui grimly deciding to take matters into his own hands by removing the source of the problem. Syaoran appears to stop him and the two engage in a deadly battle during which Kamui is revealed to be a vampire, one of a pair of legendary twins (whom Syaoran's mentor and friend Seishirou had been searching for in Clow) and that the other twin, Subaru, is trapped in the cocoon. Also, during this battle, Syaoran is revealed to be a clone, a creation of Clow Reed used to stalk and collect feathers. This Syaoran is more ruthless than the other and his battle with Kamui stops as the seal on his heart placed by the true Syaoran begins to break, Fai attempting to intervene and nearly killed for his efforts. The real Syaoran soon appears and he and his clone engage in a battle that ends with the real Syaoran injured and the clone freeing Sakura from the cocoon – only to fulfill his original task and reclaim Sakura's feather. With the second feather gone, the magical prison disappears to reveal Subaru.

Kamui is eager to leave Tokyo but reluctantly stays as Subaru asks and they reveal that when they arrived on that world, some sort of trap was triggered by their presence and they became separated by the magic of the feathers, with Kamui alone in on the outside and Subaru within. Since that day, Kamui has been protecting Subaru by protecting the water and by proxy, the humans living in the Diet building. With Fai dying, Subaru prepares to offer his blood to save him (as directed by Yuuko) when Kamui intervenes and states that he doesn't want anyone else to have a hold on his brother (this being a reference to Seishirou as it is strongly implied Subaru shared blood with him). In TRC, vampires are stronger, faster, and while they don't live forever, they live longer by aging more slowly, possessing a remarkable healing ability. It's clear that Kamui considers their task done with this but the twins stay long enough for Sakura to retrieve another feather so that the humans remaining on this world and the last of the water can be protected.

While not much is known yet about Kamui's past, it's clear that he is very possessive of his twin, as Subaru appears to be in kind, the two far closer than simple siblings and their relationship is complicated and deep. Kamui would not hesitate to kill for Subaru and while he appears to be the dominant twin from outward appearances, it is Subaru who can stop him with just a few words. He is also terribly jealous and fearful of what Seishirou's appearance may or may not mean in their lives, not understanding why Subaru saved him and ready to run as far away as possible if Subaru will not let him kill the man so that they might stay together.

Personality:

Kamui is ruthless, colder and more adept at surviving. With the world falling down around him, he does whatever is necessary to protect his sleeping twin (and as an accident the people he's living with). He is also more withdrawn, less apt to share his feelings except with Subaru and there he can't seem to hide them no matter how hard he tries. When Subaru is involved, Kamui is something of a force of nature, determined to protect and care for his twin, the only visible soft side the vampire has shown in Subaru's presence. The thing that Kamui appears to fear the most is being left behind by Subaru.

Writing Sample for Character:

The void between worlds was thin, the webbing fraying as they moved as the very backbone of the universe itself seeming to expand and contract around them like a heartbeat, heavy and burning. Kamui had long since ceased to be bothered by it, walking without light or sound, without any feeling at all save the hand in his and the sear of power pulling them towards another port. That power was a beacon and Kamui was careful as he steered them, knowing that if he wasn’t he was likely to call something or someone down on them. It was the danger of folding dimensions; knowing that whatever was likely to notice was either going to pass by silent and wary or attack, seeking as such things did, to absorb the power they wielded, adding it to their own. Once he would have had no fear of such an attack but now …

His hand tightened around the one in his, the return squeeze faint and far away, almost an afterthought as it had been for so long now. As if he were an afterthought,a figment of a dream that no longer had any form or meaning but instinct behind it, the dreamer unable to stop himself from falling into it.

There were stars out there and shadows here, misty and clingy, passing over his skin as he came to a decision, opening his eyes to stare into the void, the energy in his hand shifting again, flaring white-hot as Kamui chose, the slow drag of time seeming to speed. First into colors, orange and blue and white, the glare of reds and golds harsh, softer shades of violet and midnight and a black that somehow was more colorful than anything he’d seen in all their time traveling in this space of no-place and no-time. Sound followed, a low cacophony that grew as the colors swam and blurred in crazy, distorted shapes, explosions of light, full of laughter and screams and the softest of whispers made deafening. As always sensation came last, the push of thin air into fresh, the taste of the universe’s dead beginning, its graveyard still clinging in the back of his throat as wind sucked around them, his hand finding the door of a world, elastic and now translucent as a soap bubble, fingers prodding and then pushing them through.

Into night. Into life and reality, Kamui taking a moment to steady himself, the fingers he clung to seeming to waver, thinning into nothing, disappearinig from his grasp. Panic surged at that, Kamui reaching with everything in him as the portal shimmered, a cascade of deepest blues and purples wisping around the edges into a blue ghost light that spat him out with an audible pop before closing.

Alone, with only the lingering sensation of fingers still clasping his, fearful and enraged as he turned around quickly to take in his surroundings.

"Subaru!"

Re: Fuuma app
(Anonymous)
2007-12-09 03:52 pm UTC (link)
Background: Nothing is know of his childhood or past. In canon, Fuuma is a hunter of valuable items, and is under the employment of the infamous dimension Witch, Ichihara Yuuko. In exchange for finding and holding onto certain items for Yuuko, Fuuma is given the ability to travel through various dimensions. The purpose of his travels is unclear at the moment.

His first appearance in TRC is as the leader of Tokyo Tower and it's residences. In this cold, desolate world of ruin and bloodshed, the survivors of this apocalypse fight over territories containing the last remnants of pure water. Fuuma and his followers pose a threat to the people of the Diet Building and their supply, much to the irritation of their leader, Kamui. The two engage in battle briefly, with the outcome leaning on a draw before Fuuma and his crew are summoned back to Tokyo Tower. He returns later to assist Sakura and her tattered companions by giving her a compass to help navigate her Tokyo in search of her payment to Yuuko for preserving the water under the Diet Building. It is during this time that he is revealed to be the younger brother of the hunter who Kamui and his twin brother, Subaru, have been running from. In the end of that arch, Fuuma gives Sakura back one of her feathers that preserved the water under Tokyo Tower, warning her that the quest to obtain his brother's might prove to be dangerous.

Fuuma's latest appearance is in the country of Nihon, where he delivers a new mechanical arm for Kurogane. There, he reunites with his brother and watches as Seishirou engages in battle with R!Syaoran for Sakura's feather. Later, after Syaoran is sucked away into a dream world, Fuuma scolds his brother rather affectionately saying he had every intension of giving Syaoran the feather back, but had to be difficult as always.

Fuuma has an older bother by the name of Seishirou. A hunter in his own right, Seishirou's occupation differs from Fuuma's in that he hunts vampires. His current targets are Subaru and Kamui, and though much of the details behind his search remain a mystery, it is clear that of the twins, Seishirou is most interested in Subaru. It is mentioned later that Subaru some how saved Seishirou by giving the hunter some of his blood. Fuuma in turn is under suspicion from the twins, namely Kamui, due to his brother's history with the two.
Personality: Fuuma is by all accounts, an enigmatic individual. At first glance, it would seem that Fuuma is rather friendly an amiable, almost always smiling and talking with a comfortable presence. He is a capable fighter and treasure seeker. However, it should be noted that he is a hunter, and with such a title one can never be too sure what lies beneath the mask. He has a darker side to him, perhaps not more so than his brother, but this side of him enjoys the predatory games of cat and mouse he and Kamui played in Tokyo. That aside, he seems to also have a thoughtful, intuitive side to him when it comes to others and their circumstances. For example, he notices Subaru's longing to see his brother and as if to comfort the young vampire, he says that Seishirou wishes to see him as well. The flips in his persona make it hard for others to understand him, but overall Fuuma is a carefree young man, living his life to the fullest. And really, what's wrong with seizing the day?
Writing Sample for Character: The first thing the hunter noticed was not the ruined buildings or desolate landscape, nor the magnificent geometric masterpiece in the fading twilight. Fuuma's first reaction was to the odd feeling, the sense of foreboding and hope laced into the surroundings that left him curious. He wasn't capable of magic like Seishirou, but he could sense its presence. This country, whatever name it went by, was dominated in some way by this magic.

Brushing himself off, Fuuma finally took note of the pyramid illuminated by the lights of the city within it and the fading sun. He did not know what sort of place this was, but he was fairly certain that he did not come here by use of the dimension witch's magic.

He decided that nothing could be accomplished by simply ogling his surroundings, and ventured forth to the city yonder.

Character Name: Touya-ou
Series Taken From: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Point Taken from Canon: Just after the attack on the Clow Ruins
Character Age: He appears to be in his early twenties
Special Abilities: All that is known is that he is good with a sword and is very good at reading people and feeling their auras.

Background:

Touya is the son of Clow in the country of Clow. Now that his father has passed away, he is now the king of their country. He is also the older brother to Sakura whom he is very protective of. To him, Syaoran is the one that would take his precious sister away from him. He also initially felt that Syaoran possessed a rather unsettling presence within him and confronted his father about it, though Touya later admits that the feeling went away as Syaoran opened up to Sakura.

The current king of Clow is very close to his advisor and best friend, Yukito. He relied on him constantly for companionship and advice when he wasn’t sure which way to go. For the most part, not much else is known about this version of Touya.

As Yukito attempts to tell Touya that his sister is destined to be with Syaoran for the millionth time, they both notice that something is happening at the Clow Ruins. After running there, he fights off the minions of Fei Wong Reed, but is badly injured in the process.

Personality:

He is very similar to his doppelganger from Card Captor Sakura. Touya has a dry sense of humor and enjoys picking on his little sister. It is evident that he has a ‘sister-complex’, but it never goes beyond his teasing and giving her a hard time in general. On the other had, he isn’t fond of her best friend and ‘fated one’, Syaoran. Touya often calls Syaoran a brat and questions Yukito often about whether or not he really is sure that the kid is meant for Sakura.

Fiercely loyal in all ways, he will sacrifice himself in order to protect his people and more specifically, his sister and Yukito. This can be seen in how he fights off the people sent by Fei Wong Reed alone at the beginning of the Tsubasa series when he wants to be sure Sakura is safe. Touya is also very temperamental with certain people. The shortest fuse he shows is around Syaoran. After all, none are good enough in his eyes to have his sister. Therefore the boy is dubbed a ‘brat’ no matter what good qualities he shows.

Otherwise he is good natured and hard working. He handles responsibility very well and never shirks his duties as a king, friend, or brother.

Writing Sample for Character:

The poisoned blades had broken into skin and caused dark red blood to stain soft black material. He remembered the assassins that had come; he remembered fighting so hard to get to the ruins. Sakura, he had to get to Sakura. Touya vaguely recalled finding the brat. What had he said? Is Sakura ok? That was when things got cloudy. He’d fallen into warm arms and he felt somewhat safe. It was a feeling that Yukito gave him so easily.

His limp form was placed to the side, he heard Yukito talking to the brat, and then there was nothing. It was like a cold suction of power. Touya knew magic, but he couldn’t place where or how this was happening. Poison was dizzying his mind and making things unclear. Black tendrils were wrapping about him and he tried so hard to reach out. “Yuki—” But it was too late.

Darkness overwhelmed him only to have him land hard on solid ground. Panting heavily, he lifted his head to see what had happened. But it wasn’t the desert that he saw. Brow furrowed in pain, he tried to move, but he couldn’t, only finding that he collapsed back to the ground. It wasn’t good. Sakura was in danger… Yukito… he couldn’t just sit here. But where was here?

Shirou Kamui app

X Kamui app; added in a section about the Shinken since he's lugging it around and I thought it might be appropriate.

Character Name: Shirou Kamui
Series Taken From:X/1999
Point Taken from Canon: Last chapter; he's literally at sword point
Character Age: 16

Special Abilities:

Some telepathic abilities, at least in that he can tell when those he's closest to (i.e. the other Seals) are in danger though this in part may have something to do with his position as the Kamui for the Seals. Telekinesis, ability to bend energy for offfensive purposes, can erect some minor shielding; ability to wield the Shinken (one of two holy broadswords). His name would imply that he does have the literal power of God at his disposal but due to his own uncertainty, his control and use of those powers are limited, often sporadic so much of what he can do is still - undiscovered country.

Weapon:

Shinken, one of two holy swords; It is an extremely long broadsword with an ornate hilt culminating at the end in a star within a circle. The blade is engraved with runelike symbols, which is actually Hebrew: Barukh attah adonai eloheinu melekh ha-olam, she-ha-kol nihyeh bi-d'varo. Translation: Praised are You, Lord our God, King of the universe at whose word all things come into being." Kamui seems to be able to sense the Shinken (it seems to have an almost heart-beat to him) and it is the Shinken that tells him with the Promised Day has arrived after spending most of 1999 bound by a magic in the center of CLAMP campus.

Background:

Kamui: One who represents the majesty of God; equally one who hunts the Majesty of God.

The destined savior of mankind, Kamui was raised by his mother, Magami Tohru, and grew up alongside the Monou siblings Fuuma and Kotori. All three of them were very close as children, but when Monou Saya died to birth the first Shinken, Tohru took Kamui to live in Okinawa so that their presence would no longer bring harm to the Monou family. The two of them lived in Okinawa where it is hinted that Kamui got involved in several physical altercations at school. For the most part they lived peacefully until six years later when Kamui returned to find his house ablaze and his mother inside. Using her own powers to prevent Kamui from saving her, Tohru directed Kamui to return to Tokyo to seek his destiny.

Upon his return, Kamui initially appears as cold, ruthless, and quite unsympathetic causing Daisuke, Arashi, and Hinoto to worry that Kamui might choose his destiny as a Dragon of Earth something later revealed to be an act to drive Kotori and Fuuma away to prevent them from being harmed. It's an act that fails miserably. Fuuma and Kotori remain steadfast in their desire to reunite with their childhood friend and help him. Kamui's ultimate goal is to retrieve the Shinken from the Togakushi Shrine and then to leave Tokyo again as quickly as possible. Kamui initially clashes with the Seals and Angels alike, resulting in several battles. After meeting up with Sorata, Kamui's violent behavior is tempered somewhat by his friendly demeanor.

After the brutal murder of Fuuma and Kotori's father, followed by the birth of the second Shinken, Kamui finally makes a decision as to which side he will fall on in the coming battle, becoming a Seal (Dragon of Heaven) and choosing to fight for humanity so that there would be a world in which Fuuma and Kotori could leave peacefully. This has the unexpected and tragic consequence of effectively erasing Fuuma's personality, awakening Kamui's opposite as well as Kotori being murdered by her brother in front of him. After this, he falls into a state of catatonia, brought back only by the newly arrived Sumeragi Subaru. Subaru retrieves Kamui's consciousness from the depths of his soul, the two mutually identiffy with each other, having lived through similar circumstances of the death of loved ones at the hands of a close friend or lover. Kamui loses some of his earlier coldness after being brought back, vowing to return Fuuma to his former self at all cost.

This Kamui is still determined, still prone to bouts of anger and restlessness but his demeanor has gentled, becoming closer to his fellow Seals and in particularly, forming an intensely close friendship with Sumeragi Subaru to the point where it might be suspected that Kamui has something of a nascent crush on the onmyouji. It's clear he feels responsible for not being able to stop his cataclysmic battle with Sakurazuka Seishirou and is clearly shaken when Subaru disappears afterward. Towards the end, Kamui begins to assume more of the burden and responsibility of leadership, taking a more active role and in some cases, coming up with his own orders when he starts to suspect that the Dreamseer Hinoto might be betraying them. He takes his failures harder though he tries to remain strong for the others, holding himself personally responsible for all the tragedies that have occured.

Though Kamui continues to maintain his wish is to return Fuuma to his true self, Fuuma in his role as the Kamui of the Dragons of Earth is able to see and contradict this assertion, stating that Kamui will not be able to win against him or generate a kekkai if he doesn't realize what his true wish is.

Character Name: Sumeragi Subaru
Series Taken From:X/1999
Point Taken from Canon: Pre-Rainbow Bridge so mid volume 15 or so? Before he's summoned to see Hinto at any rate.
Character Age: 25

Special Abilities: Onmyoudo, the ability to raise a kekkai.

Background:

Subaru is the 13th head of the Sumeragi, a clan of onmyouji whose power and influence date back centuries. He spent much of his childhood sequestered with his twin sister, Hokuto, in the family compound after the death of his father at the hands of the Sumeragi's traditional enemy, the Sakurazukamori, learning the family art. As a child, Subaru has an encounter with the Sakurazukamori that's blocked from his memory and he can only see fragments of it in dreams. It is during this meeting that Subaru makes a "bet" with the Sakurazukamori and is marked by him with an inverted pentacle on the back of each hand, something his Grandmother tries to seal by forcing him to wear gloves.

When Tokyo Babylon begins Subaru is living with his sister in Tokyo rather than in Kyoto. It's not entirely clear how the twins ended up there but it is clear that the decision for them to move is not one that the family entirely agrees with. Trying to juggle going to school and plying his trade as an onmyoujitsu, Subaru and Hokuto meet and befriend a local vet, Sakurazuka Seishirou. Charming, perverse, and claiming to be totally in love with Subaru, Seishirou quickly integrates himself into their lives, never outwardly giving any hints that he's more than what he says. He is, in fact, the legendary Sakurazukamori and that he's come to collect on the bet he made with Subaru as a child.

Over the course of the year despite Subaru's protestations, he and Seishirou do draw closer and closer something that is watched with approval and some worry by Hokuto. When Seishirou's right eye is destroyed defending Subaru, he's forced to finally admit that he's in love with Seishirou, something that the older man had been waiting on. As soon as Subaru realizes and admits his love for Seishirou to himself, Seishirou reveals his true colors, torturing him with the knowledge that he is the Sakurazukamori and that he cares nothing for Subaru, meaning that he lost their bet. Leaving him broken and bleeding, Seishirou disappears while Subaru enters something of a catatonic state. Hokuto confronts Seishirou dressed as Subaru and using what little powers she has, works a spell on Seishirou as he kills her so that if he attempts to use the same spell on Subaru later, it will backfire and take his life instead. It is only Hokuto's death at the hands of the Sakurazukamori that rouses Subaru from this state but it's clear that the boy who went into the catatonia is a very different from the man who emerges.

After Hokuto's death, Subaru drifts, pushed by both a need to avenge Hokuto's death and some darker need until he shows up in X/1999 as one of the Seven Seals. Initially, he seems reluctant to take part in the war between the Dragons of Heaven and Earth, too intent on chasing down Seishirou when he's drawn in by Shirou Kamui's condition after the violent death of his childhood friend, Monou Kotori. Seeing in Kamui's situation (of losing a girl he loved and being betrayed by the other person closest to him), rather than wandering off again, Subaru makes it a point to stay with the Seals, or rather near Kamui, watching over him.

Intervening in a battle between Kamui and Fuuma, Subaru loses an eye, something he claims was his own wish and clearly ties back to what happened with the Sakurazukamori. In spite of this and the guilt that Kamui feels over it, the two of them form a bond, growing closer and closer (creating an interesting reversed parallel to Subaru's own relationship with Seishirou) and over time it becomes clear that there's an understanding between them. However, for Subaru there is still the unfinished business between between himself and Seishirou which overshadows all else...

Personality:

Subaru from X/1999 is more subdued, less coltish than he was at sixteen. These days he tends to be more disaffected, polite and distant and totally focused on achieving that which he wants most in the world. He's still kind-hearted but this is seen more in flashes and actions than a heart worn constantly on his sleeve, occasionally able to be touched and demonstrate something of the boy he was. He's much slower to trust these days but when that trust is given, Subaru is willing to put himself in harm's way. There's a streak of recklessness in him now though, throwing himself in situations with almost suicidal abandon. He has never gotten over either his sister's death or the betrayal of someone he loved and trusted and his heart has become a complicated battlefield, loving and hating at the same time.

Seishirou befriended Subaru and Hokuto, leading Subaru to believe that he cared for him—Subaru inevitably fell in love with the kind veterinarian he believed Seishirou to be. Seishirou was everything that the painfully shy, blushing sixteen-year-old might have been attracted to in a man; during the course of the year, Seishirou even lost his eye protecting Subaru. Believing that his affections might be returned, Subaru finally worked up the courage to confess his love for Seishirou—only to have his arm broken and his heart completely shattered. The truth came out: under the sakura tree, Seishirou had made a Bet with the child Subaru. Seishirou would stay with Subaru for one full year; if he felt something for the younger boy at the end of the year, he would spare Subaru's life. Seishirou, saying that he felt nothing for Subaru, left the boy to his heartbreak.

Hokuto, hardly one to stand by in such a situation, willingly confronted Seishirou beneath the sakura tree—she was killed by his hand, but not before casting one final spell. Should Seishirou ever attempt to kill Subaru in the way he killed Hokuto, the killing blow would backfire, and Seishirou himself would die. Subaru was brought out of his catatonic state by his sister's death, and he vowed to avenge her, resolving to forget and eradicate any trace that he had ever loved Seishirou.

Nine years passed, with Subaru growing graver and becoming busier with onmyouji work. His strength, already formidable as a teenager, has increased tremendously, but he is still unable to defeat Seishirou, whom he has been pursuing for the past years. He has trained in order to present himself as enough of a threat to Seishirou; although he says that he wants revenge, in truth Subaru wants Seishirou to kill him. As the year is 1999, Subaru is involved with the Dragons of Heaven in protecting humanity from destruction. He fights primarily against Seishirou, and his magical power is surpassed only by the two Gemini. Subaru develops a close friendship with his Kamui; he sees himself in the teenager, and it is Subaru who rescues Kamui from the depths of his own catatonic unconscious when he goes 'within'.

Subaru's world, changed irrevocably at Hokuto's death, is once more turned upside down upon Rainbow Bridge. The two onmyouji are engaged in battle; Subaru raises his kekkai, but the other Dragons of Heaven are not present to aid him. Seishirou uses the same killing move on Subaru as he had used to kill Hokuto, and the dead twin's spell takes effect—the battle ends with Subaru's hand through Seishirou's heart. Stunned and completely unable to do anything more than listen numbly as Seishirou whispers his dying words, Subaru remains clutching at Seishirou's dead body even as his kekkai crumples around him. Having lost the person he most wishes to protect, Subaru cannot create kekkai and is useless as a Dragon of Heaven—Kamui takes him away, but Subaru once again withdraws into his inner mind.

At present, Subaru has also taken on the responsibilities of the Sakurazukamori, as successors kill the previous guardians in order to inherit their position. Seishirou's successor was destined to be the person whom he loved most, and it is only the knowledge that he truly meant something to Seishirou that keeps Subaru alive. The inverted pentagrams on his hands have faded, and he has brought balance of sorts to the spiritual state of Japan—he is the new Sakurazukamori, but he remains the most powerful head the Sumeragi clan has ever seen.

(AIM): Neko Goes Nyaaa
Character Name: Shirou Kamui
Series Taken From: X
Point Taken from Canon: Right after him and his mother leave Tokyo.
Character Age: Nine
Special Abilities: None yet, unless you count being able to cute anyone into submission.

Background:
What we know about little Kamui-chan is fairly limited: he isn’t given all that much of a back-story for the early years. We do know he was born to Magami Tohru by a father of still-unknown identity, something that is brought up by his aunt early in the series; however, a knowing smile is about all readers get in regards to that because then… stuff happens. Of the kidnappy, and then gory-explody kind.

Anyway. It seems as though Kamui-chan and his mother move around quite a bit in his very early years, never staying in one place for too long, the poor child apparently having never really experienced friendship; at least, not until he and his mother arrive in Tokyo. There, the sad, lonely little creature is found in the rain one night by Fuuma, the son of Tohru’s “friend”, and is instantly adopted they become friends almost immediately. Later, Kamui is also introduced to the rest of the Monou family by his mother; the young girl, Kotori, pouncing him excitedly and declaring she likes him too.

For a few years, things remain fairly calm for Kamui: he goes to school, and then spends the rest of his time with his new extended family. All the while, he mostly sticks to the siblings; declaring himself Kotori’s future bride, and relying on Fuuma to take care of him. Not to say Kamui has them do everything for him -he does try to do some things himself, having his pride at even a young age- but he usually just gets hurt or in trouble, and in the end, gets fussed at by someone.

The happy times don’t last forever, however: he’s quickly ripped away from his adoptive family after Saya Monou dies, knowing nothing except that he and his mother have to leave, and that they’re somehow responsible for the death of Saya. It’s after this event, after he’s so far away from his friends in Okinawa, that he starts to learn about destiny, and what his role might be.

Personality:
At an age where most children are starting to learn more about their world and develop social skills, Kamui is instead focused more inward; shy and a little withdrawn. It’s not that he wants to be this way: most parents just don’t want their children playing with the strange bastard child, and while this isn’t new, it has caused Kamui to develop a habit of clinging to anyone who accepts him.

The child is not entirely socially awkward, though: he learned at least some proper social skills from his mother and from with the Monou family, the children of which he quickly developed a strong attachment to. Unfortunately for him, however, he was separated from those siblings, and not only is he dealing with that, but also a change in his mother’s temperament; both of which have brought about a bit of the melancholy he exhibited during his first meeting with Fuuma.

Still, all in all, despite his shy nature and slight isolation, Kamui is a sweet and innocent child. He is very kind and gentle, wanting to protect those things he cares about, and is willing to help whenever he can, even if he ends up hurt. The boy is also, oddly enough, fairly trusting of strangers, even though that is slowly being eroded as his mother introduces him more to the idea of what his destiny might be; not that Kamui really understands all that too well.

In short, Kamui is a bit like a sad, lost little puppy. Take him in and be kind to him, and you’ll end up with an obsessively-loyal bundle of cuddle and cute.

Writing Sample for Character:
(All writing will be done in third person in this RPG. Please use that here as well.)

Rejected. Again. Although his was hardly new for the small child with bright blue-violet eyes, watching a bit sadly as the boy he’d tried to talk to was yanked away by his mother. He was abnormal, she had said in what she’d thought was a whisper, her opinion really having nothing to do with Kamui so much as it had to do with his mother. He remembered that woman with the bun coming over the day they’d moved into their new house, wanting to speak to his mother as if to become friends, but then quickly leaving as she mumbled something about shame and having an illegitimate child. It hadn’t been the first time he’d heard that word, but he still didn’t know what it meant; only that it was apparently a bad thing and that he couldn’t spell it well enough to find it in the dictionary.

Quickly giving up on the child being allowed to return, he walked though their new house, still half in boxes, retrieving the two things that he’d unpacked first before heading outside. He did like that their home backed up to the ocean, finding the sound of the waves and the glittering of the water a bit soothing. Kotori probably would have liked it, too, he thought: she liked pretty things and would have wanted to play in it, even though both he and Fuuma would have had to chase her though the water, worrying over the small girl getting knocked over by one of the larger waves. There really would have been the prospect of that becoming a bit of an ordeal, but… it still would have managed to be fun, and at least they would have all been together. Not like now, Kamui entirely alone, the sound of childish laughter replaced by the calls of seabirds and the soft whoosh of the cresting water.

“Kaa-san says we can’t go back now…” his words were soft, spoken into the items he was hugging, knees to his chest, nuzzling his face into them and breathing: the teddy Kotori had given him on his first birthday with them, as well as one of Fuuma’s shirts he’d forgotten to return a while ago. They were the only reminders he had of his two friends aside from memories; almost everything else lost in the haste of their move. “But I won’t forget, okay?” Kamui glanced back at the house for just a moment, knowing his mother would be returning from getting groceries soon, and would probably call him in to eat shortly after that. “Cause…” a little yawn left him, face turning back and nuzzling even further into the items, eyes closed as if he was going to doze off, “Cause Fuuma said I wouldn’t.”
