The Otherworld is a mysterious world that stretches out into the gloom, with endless stretches of forest. It’s almost always rainy, or cloudy, or foggy – very little visibility and a general feeling of humidity or dankness depending on the season. The Otherworld is nothing but a large forest, deeper and thicker the further you go in. There are hardly any breaks in the trees, only the occasional field or a lake to break up the monotony of endless trees. In these lakes, stretching only for a short while, are grottos hidden amongst trees and water, not too difficult to find but not immediately noticeable.
In the center of this lush forest, where the trees stretch higher than imaginable, there is the Otherworld Castle, in which the rulers live. This is the hub of the Otherworld, where most of the Otherworlders live, huddled together, working as a thriving community, hidden away from outsiders, always quick to find means for hiding – it takes a long journey in order to find this hidden city. It’s easy even for the Otherworlders to be lost for months in the expansive forest, still corners of which have never been explored, filled with strange and interesting creatures, both sentient and non.
Not much is known of those from the Otherworld, as it’s a mysterious place itself, often disconnected and separate from the realms of Heaven and Hell, often letting the two realms work out their own differences and remain uninvolved. For this reason, the people of the Otherworld are virtually unknown.
What is known is that they have two different forms, one usually something of a spirit form and the second a humanized form. They pride themselves on their discretion and their secrecy, taking it as a personal pride that so little is known of them – they’re often described as eccentric or peculiar, often with strange customs, fashion sense, and ideas. They so rarely appear for bridge meetings, more isolated than the other two worlds, and when they do appear, it’s more to act as mediators than participants in negotiations.
Still, they possess a deep culture all their own, valuing privacy and understanding. And as the years have gone by, watching the countless wars unfold, involving themselves more and more, the join rulers of the Otherworld have found means for disagreement. Queen Elsa wishes for more isolation, to remain hidden within these lush forests, while King Emrys pushes for connection with the outside worlds, to create better understanding and acceptance.
