[It starts when the sun goes down. The first sign that something is wrong is the water pipe in the hotel lobby breaking and flooding the floor. This, in and of itself, wouldn’t be much of a problem… except it looks like someone has cut the electrical wires that are now sparking dangerously, only a few feet above the floor. There are similar instances of sabotage all over the island: doors locking behind you, wire traps in the park that’ll fire an arrow at you if you accidentally trigger them, the bolts in bicycles loosened so they’re in a danger of falling apart if you drive them – little things that might cause you to be hurt.

And if you’re really unlucky… you might hear something move in the shadows, and when you turn to look, they’re materializing around you; human-shaped, black-clothed warrior spirits, holding a katana and hiding behind a demonic mask. Or perhaps you will hear an incessant buzzing sound that just won’t stop until you give in…

For the next few days, dear Kiseki residents, it’s best to be extra careful, because there’s a fox spirit around to cause chaos, and he won’t be easily stopped.]

[Even four hundred years have not changed Ucchii's nature - he is as he always has been, too trusting, too blinded by good to see through a deception before it's too late. It had cost him the life of his former lord, whose dying words were a warning to protect Ucchii from the same fate. He tries to live with more caution now, but old habits are the hardest to break, and the relative calm in Kiseki has dulled his senses in spite of his training.

Blissfully unaware of any change in Stiles, Ucchii hails him when he catches sight of him at sunset, the last rays of rosy light filtering through the trees at the edge of the forest.]

Stiles-dono! Good evening to you.

	No, there do not appear to be any dinosaur spirits here, so it is simply a building in this world. But it is a wonderful building! With King-dono and Lilo-dono and Torin and everyone, it feels very much like home. [Catches himself.] But I should not be talking of home when you have so recently been taken from yours. [Shock hits him first, a cacophony of disbelief and terror unlike anything he's ever known. Even that fateful battle hundreds of years ago had been a battle; in that context some level of betrayal was expected, but not during an innocent conversation with a friend, not here.

Utsusemimaru has no time to consider the significance of all of this, because the pain follows quickly after, tearing through his abdomen. He makes a choked sound in his throat and stares up at Stiles's face while his own rapidly loses color.]

[He steps back, completely calm and unfeeling, except for the small smile playing on his lips -- he can feel the confusion, the pain, both physical and mental; the anguish of the betrayal, as well as the searing pain in his stomach. He can feel it, all of it, and it's perfect.]

You know, I think the reactions are the best. How could you do this? or You wouldn't really hurt me, right?

Naive, stupid, unprepared. That's all you are. All of you. Including that King of yours.

[Utsusemimaru's blood goes cold.]

If you hurt him, I swear I will make you pay. [There is venom in his words, a glimpse at the rage and anguish he tries so hard to forget.

It is brief, however; Utsusemimaru's legs buckle as dizzying pain swarms over him. He pulls the knife out of his stomach before it can do any further damage, and immediately presses his other hand against the wound, now bleeding freely without the knife to stopper it.]

Make me pay? Make me pay? You will have enough trouble to stand up, after that wound -- and even without it, you couldn't even touch me.

[He takes a step closer, watching the blood flow, staining the ground in bright red.] He won't suspect a thing, just like you didn't... and he'll pay for it, just like you did. And there's nothing you can do to stop that from happening.

[He takes a step back to maintain the distance between them, while blood seeps through his fingers and falls in thick drops to the ground. He wants to snarl out another threat but the creature with Stiles's face is right - even the effort he needs to remain standing is too much for him right now, and he drops to his knees, panting hard.]

Why- [He tries to swallow a groan of pain.] Why are you doing this? Why hurt people just for trusting others?
