Plotting post - the mysterious AU
/drumroll....
The event will be a vampire AU!
Following CLAMP's concept of vampires, which I'll go into detail about in a minute, the world will change into a victorian atmosphere - think lots of fog, with fancy, old fashioned buildings, a cathedral and all those nice things; and everyone will change into AU versions of themselves to fit this new world. As noted in the Calendar, it'll last from the 15th to the 31st, and we'll have several logs up (at least three, for now) during the time the event lasts.
CLAMP vampires are fancy jerks, and they don't follow most of the usual vampiric lore: they have no issues coming out in sunlight, there's no turning into bats, etc. They're divided into categories:
There's the purebloods, rare and the most powerful, with very long lifespans, and the ability to convert others into lesser vampires by making them drink their own blood (a very painful and dangerous process). Purebloods' injuries can heal almost instantly (Kamui gets his arm ripped off and restores it to normal just fine in a matter of seconds), and they can speak to others' minds - vampires or not.
Turned vampires lack the telepathic ability (although purebloods can speak to them and they can respond, of course), can't turn others, and the healing ability exists for them (the whole point of a turned vampire in the canon was to heal their fatal wound), but it's less powerful.
Any vampire would have their eyes turn into golden, cat-like ones when accessing their powers; retractable, sharp long claws, and inhuman strength. For both, there's also the concept of "E" or "prey", a human who is bound to a vampire to be their only source of food. It's implied some vampires (or hunters) raise people specifically for this, but the main "prey" is someone who offers himself willingly through the process of someone else becoming a vampire. It means their own blood is mixed with the pureblood's before it's fed to the human, so for it to be done this way would be a rare concept as well. Someone can be a vampire's prey without going the "E" route - it'd just mean they're their usual victim, no magical codependency bond included.
Aside from vampires, there's vampire hunters. Hunters - who can be normal humans, prey, "E", even other vampires! would have special knives, pistols and other weapons (Fuuma had a pretty whip-like weapon which he used to hold Kamui down), or their own magic and skills should they choose to use those instead (Seishirou uses a magical shapeshifting sword rather than Fuuma's more nonmagic weapons). Vampire blood has many unique qualities and powers, as you can see, so purebloods in particular would be highly sought after.
This is part of the idea for the event!
We'll have characters split up into vampires (purebloods or not), hunters, regular humans, and preys/'E' - the idea here is that the town is known for vampire attacks, but no one can find the real source, the purebloods, and victims keep appearing without any means to stop it. Turned vampires could be forced to hide, maybe become hunters to find the one who turned them, maybe allying themselves with the purebloods. Hunters could be part of the town's habitants, or newcomers from other locations, wanting to investigate the situation and help. Maybe your character's a newcomer who wants to investigate without being a hunter, simply a visitor who wants to help. But they could, of course, fall victims too. Vampires know how to hide. And what if those arriving are vampires, too, following the rumors of their kin?
With that basic idea, we'd like to hear what possible setups for their character everyone has, and then form events based on it, once we know better what kind of cast we'll be counting on!
Mini FAQ
- Is this mandatory?
Yes, in the sense that it's a full AU. If you'd rather not participate, you'll have to place your character under suspended animation for the time it lasts.
- Can my character keep their powers?
We encourage switching things around, but absolutely, Fay had his usual magic and was a vampire for a good chunk of the series.
- Do vampires kill their preys?
If they want to. For the "E" type of prey, they wouldn't because they'd end up without food. Remember the rules regarding character deaths.
- What is the vampire transformation like?
Enjoy some terrible quality image scans - here | 02 | 03 | 04 | 05 | 06 | 07
After the process is done, the person would pass out from exhaustion for a while, but once they wake up they'd be fine - Fay didn't even need to eat right away, for example.

Of course, the idea is still shaping up, so ask about any doubts or suggestions you might have, plot all you want, everything is welcome!
