Mirage sat outside the Ark, staring up into the night sky. His optics searched for any possible sign of Cybertron, wishing he was there instead of on Earth. He tensed slightly as he heard movement behind him, knowing that he was too close to the Ark for it to be a Decepticon, but also unsure of who it was.
"It's nice out here, isn't it?" Skyfire asked, looking at the seemingly small dots of light in the sky. "You were thinking about Cybertron, weren't you?"
"No," Mirage lied. "Why would I be? It's not as though the Cybertron we miss exists anymore, after all."
"Then what were you doing out here all by yourself?"
"Looking at the stars." Mirage looked over at the other; it wasn't necessarily a lie, because he really had been looking at them.
"It's beautiful here, isn't it?"
"I prefer Cybertron."
Skyfire shrugged. "Both planets have things that are beautiful."
"I suppose so."
"You should try giving this planet a chance. We don't know when we'll get home after all." Skyfire sat down beside Mirage.
"Unfortunately, I'll have to." Mirage looked up at the stars again, thinking of something he'd heard the humans say when they were. 'Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.'
"Never know. We might get home soon." He looked up, following Mirage's gaze to the brightest star they could see.
The two sat there until morning, occasionally exchanging words about what they remembered of their home, but never more than that.
