Fandom: Carpe Jugulum (Discworld - Pratchett)
Rating: teen
Characters: Agnes Nitt, Perdita, Vlad

Notes: I couldn't find my Carpe Jugulum book, so this may be a bit off. No meaningful consent whatsoever.
Summary: "It's not working," Agnes said crossly.
The candles, Perdita said critically, are a bit overdone.
Agnes wrung her hands and ignored her as well as you could ignore someone inside your own head, biting her lip. Vlad straightened from lighting the last candle and gave her a bright smile with an awful lot of shiny white teeth.
"Isn't it nice?" he asked.
She made a vague noise that might have been misinterpreted as assent, and then swallowed hard. "Very...well lit."
"Comfortable, too," he assured her cheerfully, circling closer. Agnes had discomforting thoughts about animals circling prey, and he laughed. "Oh, no," he protested, eyes sparkling with charm. "I'm not going to eat you. You're far too interesting."
Somewhere in that sentence was a troublingly close-hovering 'yet', but Agnes was too busy nervously focusing on the hands stroking up and down her arms to react. "Um--" she blurted.
Perdita was trying to eye his bare chest, but her control was limited. As a result, Agnes's eyes were moving a bit oddly, jerking around and occasionally trying and failing to move separately. Agnes solved this by clapping both hands over her eyes.
Vlad chuckled, an alarmingly low, velvet sound.
"I do know what you're doing!" Agnes said desperately, trying to back away without tripping over anything. "Don't think I haven't noticed!"
"If you didn't notice, what would be the point?" Vlad asked from very, very close--even closer than he'd been before she started moving backwards. She jumped and gave a small, sharp cry, nearly toppling over backwards.
He'd got her wrists again. She thought about using her knee, but the quick whisper of movement informed her he'd picked up that thought in advance this time. Perdita was caught between cheering and sulking.
"It's not working," Agnes said crossly.
"That's a shame," he said, and her eyes opened to catch his mournful expression a moment before he kissed her.
No harm in it, Perdita said dizzily. He was a very good kisser, and she was forgetting vampire! and dangerous! in the heretofore undetected capability of their body for strong suggestion. What's he going to do?
Drain us dry and toss us in the garbage heap?
"Oh, no," he said, actually having the nerve to sound shocked. "Not at all!"
"Toss us somewhere else?"
"No," he said thoughfully, and smiled slowly. "Let me prove my sincerity to you."
The candles went out. Agnes yelped, but after a bit forgot about that. Perdita approved wholeheartedly.
