Title: Persistence
Author/Artist:luzzu
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Un-beta'd due to time constraints but spell-checked. A little swearing and a split lip?
Word count: 740
Summary: Prompt: Final Fantasy VII, Cid/Vincent: Dark, rough, needy sex with dubious consent - "We were at the end of our worlds"
A/N: Sorry to whomever made the prompt that it's probably a little tamer than you may have wanted, but I suddenly had a huge mass of RL dumped on my desk and nearly had to drop the prompt altogether. But I hope it passes okay for a quick attempt.

Cid cursed for the umpteenth time. They had taken a wrong turn and ended up at yet another dead end. He knew he would be okay; when the fighting started. But here in the dark of the Northern Crater it seemed the lower they went, the more apprehension rose and that made him irritable and angry and Vincent's seemingly calm demeanour was just serving to irritate the itch in his brain. "How can you be so goddamn calm?" he demanded eventually.
"It makes no difference to our situation whether I am calm or not."
"You know we may die here?"
"Do you fear it?" There was no hint of scorn.
Cid sighed. "No. It's this damn getting to the fight that's buggin' me."
Vincent gave a slight shrug. "The path to the bottom of the crater is many hours long walking. We still have Yuffie to retrieve on the way too. I suggest you find some way of stilling your frustration."
Cid grumbled under his breath and headed for an opening in the stone leading to the more cavernous middle of what he was now referring to as 'The Hell Hole'. Leaning slightly over the edge of the ledge, he called down. "You still alive, brat?"
A voice filtered up from below. "Yeah, no thanks to you, old man!"
"Hopefully we'll be with you soon, but as we ain't dumb enough to go the way you did its not gonna be as quick as you'd like."
"Just hurry up, I'm getting really bored now." The voice sounded surprisingly sulky for a yell.
Cid grinned. However much discomfort he was in, the brat was probably feeling worse. So much for ninja scouting skills. Served the kid right for showing off at such a time. Let her sit on that ledge. Though he still hadn't figured how they were going to get her back up, here was to hoping she had some rope.
Vincent pointed a clawed finger toward another gap in the stone. "The path would seem to continue down along through there."
"Well, lets get a move on then."
More tunnels, more darkness, more damn monsters. Cid was happy to kick Sephiroth's ass as much as the next person, but preferably if he could skip this bit out. They'd followed the tunnel, guessing where to go as it had forked. Hitting the rough hewn wall of a dead end Vincent turned to him, casually stating that it would appear they had gone the wrong way again.
"Hey, are you two going to make it down here sometime this year?!" Came a yell muffled only slightly by the rock.
Cid snapped. "That's it! I've fucking had it with this place."
"Whether you've had it with this place or not has little to do with anything. We had better retrace our steps and take the other route."
Exasperation at seeming to be the only one bothered by this place and needing to do something about it spilled over. Cid suddenly slammed Vincent to the wall, kissing him fiercely. The other man shoved him back. "What the hell are you doing, Cid?" The voice was restrained, but did nothing to hide the underlying menace.
Cid grinned, shoving back. "You did say I should find some way to still my frustration." He kissed him again, only to be shoved away again, this time with an accompanying fist.
Cid wiped the blood from his lip, considering what he'd just done, he figured he'd probably gotten off light.
"We're possibly at the end of our world, why this now? Vincent asked.
Cid felt a small amount of clarity take over, but not enough to quiet the unrest he was feeling. "Because I might never get another chance again."
Yuffie, somewhere below and stuck on the little ledge that had become her home for the last two hours could hear scuffling above her. As sounds of the two men were drifting down, she wondered what the hell was attacking them now, annoyed she couldn't go to help. After an impatient wait that seemed to take forever, the familiar red eyes of Vincent peered over the rock above her. "Throw me your rope so we can pull you up."
Yuffie squinted at him as she noticed he looked a little more dishevelled than usual. She threw one end of the rope to him. "You run into something nasty up there?"
"Not so much nasty, as persistent." Vincent said dryly.
