Friday
Who: Basil, Edwin, Vala and Doc
What: Walking around on the ship looking for something to do
When: Around 4:30 pm
Where: KR

Basil had woke up that morning to do his usual. He wrote down his dreams, all in as much detail as he could remember. His hand led the pen over the paper in small, even strokes of clear script. His journal was leather bound, a golden crest of lion and bear was on the cover, the words Plures Sententia printed under the crest. Those words translated spoke volumes to him, 'many thoughts'. Sighing Basil waited for the thick ink to dry, closing his felt tipped pen and setting it back in the drawer.

Looking over the journal, the words he just wrote he then closed the leather-bound book. Pulling the leather thongs around the tab on the front cover he made sure that the pictures within would not fall out, nor anyone could easily claim it fell open and they just started reading it. That was if anyone ever cared to venture down. Going out, he walked about, hands in his pockets, feet scuffing along.

He had been pounced on by Nikita, that day. He liked the girl, woman, puppy, whatever she was. He had smiled and teased her gently.

Basil loved being on the ship. He had no complaints. The people were a bit standoffish. As he wished them to be. It would do no good for him to lose control and hurt them because he couldn't hold back Phoenix. Walking he looked up. There was a picture on the wall he was walking by. Stopping he stared at it for a moment, then glanced behind him. There stood the dark one, seemingly just over his shoulder.

You know you can't keep me at bay forever. Not even the highest dose of Paxil or whatever it is that you find will keep me hidden forever, Basil.

"I will do as I see fit, devil." He muttered as he moved on. Shaking his head he cleared his mind, took a deep breath, let it out slowly. Watching his dark hair fall within his sight as he looked down at the floor, not really watching where he was going. After all, Niki would just end up pouncing on him again, everyone else was probably gone to enjoy Vegas. Biting his lip he chewed on it lightly.

It was not sane to be bored in a city like Vegas. He dare not go out alone. There were too many people in Vegas, too many things could set him off. Plus he didn't want to bother anyone with baby sitting him in the city of sin. It just wouldn't be fair to whoever that poor soul would end up being. "Bloody hell." He muttered as he ran a hand through his hair. Closing his eyes he stopped and leaned back against the wall. Tilting his head back he slid down the wall, crouching there for a brief minute. Opening his eyes he stared at his feet for a moment, then looked up at the ceiling.

Standing again he kept moving. Walking he passed by lots of reflective surfaces. Random images of those within his mind kept popping up, all saying something, all wanting something. One in general always seemed to be there. The one that Basil didn't want to have anything to do with. Not yet anyways. Moving up on the deck of the ship, Basil roamed over the length.

Stopping he slid down the side, settling down with his legs sprawled in front of him. His foot began moving back and forth on his heel, the toes wiggling in the sandals he was wearing. Licking his lips, Basil began humming softly. His foot now keeping time with the song in his head. By God and all that was still holy in the world...he was bored.

Even the best of intentions tended to backfire at some point and time. Intentions usually, however, did not lead to one going to a strip club to drink and smoke for the first time again in years.

At precisely nine am, a loud knock had awoken Edwin from his sleep in his room at the Bellagio Hotel. He’d answered the door wearing his pajama pants and a robe that the room provided. Outside stood four suit clad men from the HILE, all of which, Edwin knew personally. He didn’t even have a chance to invite them inside; they muscled their way into his room. Taken aback by these events, he demanded to know what their business was and why they were treating him, a much respected and high ranking officer with such disrespect.

“You’ve been suspected of lying to the HILE.”

Those words met his ears and his face dropped a degree in shock before it shifted into pure and utter rage. “Excuse me?” His brows rose almost meeting his hairline and he snorted at them. “You have no idea who you are dealing with.” His brows rose once again when one of the men, a man by the name of Devin Harding, pulled a file out.

“Edwin Fairchild, born to Alice and Timothy Fairchild on March 5, 1980…” Devin started only to be interrupted moments after.

“I bloody well know who my parents are, and I bloody well know my own birthday.” He snorted at the other, rolling his eyes.

“But you aren’t the only one who shares that birthday are you?” The tallest out of the men, Phillip Roland, spoke and stepped forward.

“As I recall I have a twin, yes.” Edwin canted his head to the side, crossing his arms over his chest and waited.

Phillip nodded his head, and Devin flipped a few more pages. “Basil Fairchild came into his mutant powers at the age of 13, escaped multiple times from the HILE holding facility only to be recaptured up until five years ago when he was broken out by one Nathanial Sterling, also a known mutant. He’s a known murderer, mutant and fugitive from the law.”

Edwin stared blankly at the men in his room. “And?” He raised a brow, even though his insides had slowly begun to turn.

“And,” Philip started, “You have been suspected of lying to the HILE. Last night we received intelligence that crew from the King’s Ransom were going to be selling a lighting coil to the Nevada Power Company. You stated earlier yesterday in your meeting with Agent Campanello that you believed they would be going to Los Angeles. Funny how your brother was broken out by the leader of this mutant gang that robbed De Vries two days ago only to tell the superiors that they would be going to Los Angeles when they are in fact here in Las Vegas when you happened to request to go here as well.”

Edwin chuckled, shaking his head at the men in the room. “Funny? How in the hell is that funny? If I’d known that they were coming here do you not think for one second that I wouldn’t tell you lot that?” He challenged, tilting his head up and looking at them down his nose.

“We’ve come to not believe a lot of things, Detective Fairchild. Get dressed, you’re coming with us.”
