Wednesday - THE DIAMOND HEIST
Who: Everyone
Where: Waikiki Beach
Why: Rob from the rich
How: Easy...We're Mutants!

It was 12:45 when Nate and his ragtag group of mutants, he called them "M-Force", arrived on Waikiki Beach, or rather, just off of Waikiki Beach, hidden behind a growth of massive palm bushes. Just a few hundred feet from the palm bushes they hid behind was their goal…

De Vries’ Diamond Head Hotel & Casino Complex stood like a modern day Babylon…it was massive...blue steel and pink stucco outlining a surface mainly covered in beveled glass…the entire structure looked like a carved diamond.

"Nikki, you'll be going in first. The guests, media, paparazzi and general onlookers are already packed in the lobby. DeVries should be arriving any minute now. Timing is everything, baby. You have to get in there and get to De Vries..make sure you are so adorable with him that it is front page photo-worthy. He won't be able to resist and neither will his publicist."

"Arlen, the main generator is through the door there...third one in...left side of the building. Big door at the end of the hall. I'm sure you know what to do. When you finish, join the rest of us through those double doors there in the center of the building"

Nate's adrenaline was pumping and he was all smiles. At times like these, he was like a little boy with a video game. His main concern was that the real danger was coming all towards him and Drake and Drake was in no real danger because he was a self-healer.

"There's a small guard unit inside those doors. I'll take them out on my own...no argument, Drake. It has to be quick and quiet. I'll put the deep freeze on them so Mags, Serena and Pavla can get by and go into the lower level, by the one elevator that goes there. One of the guards will have the pass key. No guards down there. You guys will be on your own. Drake and I will keep things clear up here".

"Alex, keep those feet nimble. I want you to haul ass when Pavla comes through those doors with the diamond. Clear?"

"Okay, guys, once we get started, no real names are used, only code names. Let's do this!"

He bent over and gave Nikki a kiss on the cheek, "Showtime, Luv!".

Nikita was a bundle of nerves. She moved from foot to foot at first, and then started pacing like a caged animal and wringed her hands. She knew she could do this, she knew she could. She just prayed that everyone else could get in, get out, and be safe.

She nodded as Nate spoke, catching all of his words easily even though her own thoughts were going a million miles a minute. She wasn't wearing a suit like all of the others. It wouldn't have done her any good anyway until they found a suit, or made one that would shift with her body. She had on a simple long t-shirt that fell to the tops of her thighs and nothing underneath it.

Letting out a deep breath, she let her body relax and cleared her mind. She gave a grin to Nate as he kissed her cheek, and then rolled her shoulders. Glancing over at her brother she smiled at him, gave him a wink before mouthing 'I love you' to him. Quickly she gave a smile to Mag, just to let her friend know that she was thinking of her. Turning her back on the small group she pulled off her t-shirt and as she tossed it towards her brother she shifted into the cutest golden retriever puppy form she could muster.

Turning back to the group she wagged her tail, and let out a small bark before she started running towards the hotel. Once near the crowd of onlookers, she slinked down, getting as low as possible so she could work through the feet of the large crowd. Finally she made it to the edge of the red carpet. Why was there always red carpet? Shaking her little doggy head, Nikita paused, moving in and out of the way of the crowd so she wouldn't be noticed right off the bat. Finally a large limo pulled up to the sidewalk, and Nikita had to keep light on her feet to prevent the eager onlookers from stepping on her.

Her breath caught as one of De Vries bodyguards stepped around and opened the door to the limo. She could do this. Yes, she could. She waited, watching him, his publicist, and his two bodyguards carefully. When De Vries was about seven feet away from her, she took a long breath and trotted out onto the red carpet. She barked playfully, and did a play bow in front of the man who paused on the red carpet and raised a brow at her. The bodyguards stepped forward, hands coming up to their suit jackets.

Nikita canted her head to the side, ears perked forward and blinked innocently at the two men. Slowly her tail began wagging as De Vries placed a hand on one of the man's arms and stepped up. She barked at him again playfully and her tail began wagging so hard that her whole body wriggled. Mentally she let out a sigh as his lips quirked up into a smile at the cute puppy in front of him.

"What are you doing out here?" De Vries asked her, as if she could answer him and slowly he kneeled down and eyed her carefully.

Nikita slowly moved towards him, head low but tail still wagging until she bumped her head against his hand.

"How about some pictures with the puppy, De Vries?" Someone from the crowd shouted.

Nikita paused looking up at him, tail still wagging and her ears perked forward again.

"Alright, alright. But if the puppy bites me, I'll sue your ass." He smirked, teasing the crowd as he carefully picked Nikita up, cradling her against his chest.

Nikita nuzzled up and under his chin, tongue flicking out to lick his face as her whole body wriggled. God, she felt nasty. Then she thought she was going to go blind from all of the bulbs flashing off around them, and spots danced before her eyes.

Alright guys, it's now or never. Get your asses in there and get the fuck out. Nikita thought, still putting on her cutest thing ever charade as cameras snapped and the publicist looked on with a smug smile of satisfaction.

Kesh stood quietly in the circle, arms folded over his chest. Come time to work his light-hearted manner gave way to a much more disciplined and stern demeanor. Not by nature, but force of will. Eye on the prize, no getting distracted... plenty of time to be yourself later... gotta be a machine for the time being, gotta be Aegis. As much as he loved pulling jobs and oh he truly did enjoy it, he had to keep himself in check and not get carried away. A half wave/ half salute was issued when he received his instructions.

Nikki, adorable little Nikki trotted off and awed he crowd. Hell, Aegis wanted to go over and pet her as well. Who could resist the woman working her charms. Seemingly no-one as he slipped past the crowds and quietly past the distracted doormen. Glacier had given directions, but Aegis hardly needed them. He could feel, hell he could taste the generator and find it with eyes closed. No playing around though, go there do your thing, quickly no toying with the power source. Just do it and move on to help the others.

One door, two, three... jackpot the big door at the end of the rainbow. Well, hallway at least. He slipped inside and smiled as he looked at the large machine. It was churning away and pumping out power to a variety of boxes on the wall. He looked it over for a minute, Glacier said take it out. Aegis shrugged and slid his jacket off, he and his shield happily take the jolt. No sense scorching his favorite jacket though, shirt he didn't care about. He found the output lines and gripped firm with both hands and yanked them free of the boxes on the wall. Electric arcs shot out wildly in protest as the rest of the building fell dark. A good majority of the arcs jumped to his shield and sent colored veins coursing across his body. A grin crossed his lips, primo output. De Vries hadn't skipped on their electrical. With the lines pulled free he crossed the feeds to short out the generator, grabbed his jacket again and walked out the room.

The door of the generator room came flying off it's hinges and barely missed Aegis as the generator overloaded and finally exploded. He blinked in shock, the generator exploded much faster than he had anticipated. God that would have hurt... Flames licking out from the generator room gave him plenty of light to navigate the hallways, not that he needed the fire at the moment. His shield was teetering on overcharge and glowing brightly enough to light the way on it's own. Better get going before everyone rushed down to see what happened to the power, he'd be a hard person not to notice at the moment. Double doors up ahead, time find the rest of the group.

Watching Nikki through a small but powerful set of binoculars, Nate smiled. “Amazing, absolutely brilliant that sister of yours, Alex”, he exclaimed, handing the binoculars over to the speedster. “I think she may have been able to get the diamond all by herself”, he chuckled.

Time for Arlen to head out…Nate gave him a silent nod of confidence and a pat on the back. There was no doubt that a generator was about to go down. He watched as the shielded man entered the building and estimated how long it would take him to get half way down the hall. That’s when Nate would start his move to take out the guard unit that was protecting the entrance to the lower corridor where the vault was located.

Before he made to leave, he turned to Drake and placed a hand on his shoulder, “Okay, I go in alone this first time, Drake. Got it.? Do not follow me. These guys go in the deep freeze. Period. No carnage. We don’t have time for that”. He saw the look of disappointment in the feral’s eyes. Patting Drake’s face he grinned, “Oh cheer up, ya bloody wanker. After the diamond snatching group goes down below, you and I will be watching their backs and I’m sure there will be plenty of playmates come along for you”.

Having given Drake his warning, Nate quickly kissed Pavla on the cheek and waved to his people as he jogged off to disable a few dozen highly trained guards.

The door was locked, when Nate arrived, of course, and it had two key holes awaiting the keys that he didn’t have. Crouching down, he put his fingertips against the keyholes and concentrated, sending subzero temperatures blasting through…dropping lower and lower…and lower…and lower…until he stopped and removed a pen from his jacket and easily shattered the now brittle mechanism and opened the door and let himself in.

He stepped into a polished black granite foyer with a large guard’s station to his left and elevators down to the vault on his right. The guard’s station was shaped like half of an octagon and fronted with large glass panels. There were 3 elevators directly across from it. Further down the hallway were doors to rooms and openings to corridors leading elsewhere.

Stealthily, Nate raised his hands to put the entire guard unit under the deep freeze at once…

“Don’t move, Big guy, or that handsome face will be decorating these walls”, came a voice from behind him.

Fuck, a vending area off to the side over there!, Nate groaned inwardly, Time to try a bit of concentrating. With all his inner will, Nate concentrated and pushed out and a faint gasping grunt could be heard from the man behind him as both his hands and the gun froze solid. Quickly before he could cry out, Nate covered him over in ice and then turned to the guard station.

Faces turned his way…the woman at the alarm…he froze her first…then he threw up a massive thick shield in front of himself to block any bullets…after that, he just expanded the shield forward to swallow any and all within the guard station, covering them in a wave of ice…they were like flies in amber. When Nate…or rather Glacier…walked out of the building, the entire guard station was like one large ice cube with it’s occupants frozen in motion.

Hurrying back to his group, Nate smiled and shrugged, “Piece of cake. Boomer, Monkey, Umbra, you’re up! Straight in and Elevators are on the right!”

Mag was a bundle of nerves, yet again. As soon as she put on the uniform she became Boomer. Unstoppable, planned out, stable Boomer. That was her. Her red hair was up in a tight bun, her suit was slid on and she had a hard time staying in her mindset. Cause right there was Alex.

Trying not to focus on him, she listened to Nate. She watched Nikita shift, giving a smile back at her friend. She wanted to reach down and pet the cute little puppy she had become, but time for that would come later. Her eyes followed Nikita for as long as she could.

Then when Nate sent Kesh on his way, Mag took a deep breath. Pretty much phase one was done...well what she figured was phase one. She let out her deep breath, slowly, making herself relax. She closed her eyes, thinking over the plan, she had memorized the blue prints. Well as best as she could.

Her eyes fluttered open as Nate said her name. She smiled at him, giving a small nod when he came back. It was quick, wasn't so painless she would imagine for those trapped in the ice. Stepping forward she glanced at Monkey and Umbra, giving them a small smile before she passed Alex. Her hand trailed down his arm, her fingers wrapping around his for a brief moment, before she strode toward the building. Elevators and doors ont he blueprint were kept in her mind's eye. She had already figured out the majority of the ways to break them down with the least bit of damage to her own hands and bones as much as possible. Unlike Kesh, she didn't have a shield to protect her from steel.

Coming to the elevator she looked at the guards, trying to see if any of their eyes moved. Of course that was not her main objective. Reaching the elevators she made their way to their objective. The first door was simple, steel locked doors, nothing big. She just easily pulled them off their hinges, folded them together and set them against the wall. Moving to the next set, then the next which happened to be a vault-like mechanism. Pausing for a moment, she pulled apart the locking wheel, folding the steel back and away, "Watch yourselves." She murmured as she stepped through, hoping that she had stamped out most of the steel around their feet so they wouldn't get cut coming back through. It was the ducking that had to be watched.

Licking her lips she finally came to the final vault. This one was going to be tricky. She would have to make sure that the inside wasn't disturbed in the least. Monkey would have to work her magic in there. Closing her eyes she placed her hands on the vault. Tapping at the door lightly before placing her hands on the arms of the lock, she forced it to unlock by twisting the mechanism in on itself. The steel wrenched itself together under her hands, and all she had to do was gently lift the door out, she hoped.

Glancing over at Serena to make sure she was doing everything alright, she managed to get them an open doorway. Boomer moved out of the way of the other two, this was their part, all she could do was heavy lifting. At the thought she gave a wry smirk, not much of one for many words.

Serena stood in behind the palm bushes with everyone else. She stood a little closer to Kesh than anyone else, but no one seemed to notice. She hadn't participated in a job in so long, she wasn't sure if she had the touch anymore. Nibbling on her lip, she listened to Nate's speech and then watched Niki shift into the adorable golden retriever puppy that was supposed to distract the crowd long enough for them to get the diamond and get back to the ship. She was adorable, too. Serena didn't much care for animals, but she had to admit that when they were babies, they were awfully cute. She grinned slightly as she watched DeVries pick her up, but knew that she was going to have to act soon.

She watched Kesh, next. He took off, almost seeming mechanical in what he was doing. He was confident and sure that he would be able to take out the generator, and Serena was too. She just hoped that he was careful. He might not be able to get hurt easily, but he could get hurt. She watched Nate leave the group next and head for the lobby. He was going to take out the guard unit there. She worried about him just as much as anyone else in the group, but she had worked with him before and knew that he could hold his own.

When Mag passed her and Umbra, she followed after her. She saw the small exchange between her and Alex and smiled softly. It was always nice to see people finally realize their feelings for one another. The awkwardness and sexual tension between the two of them had been building for some time. She was glad it was finally out in the open. She nodded to Alex as she passed him and caught up to Mag. She stayed well behind her so that any pieces of metal that might come off the doors wouldn't hit her or that she would have enough time to get out of the way if they looked like they were about to.

She turned to the small shadow mutant near her and nodded. He must have been a thief for some time for Glacier to think that he could do a job like this. She had complete faith in Nate and therefore complete faith in Umbra. She offered him a small smile and then turned to follow Mag through a few sets of doors that she seemed to pull off their hinges with ease. When they came to the large vault, she nodded to Mag and watched her take the door off that, too. The girl was simply magnificent. It amazed her that one person could harbor so much strength.

As Mag stepped back, Grease Monkey stepped through the doorway, ready to administer her part of the plan. She found that they were faced with yet another, smaller vault door. Using her mind, she managed to get around the mechanics of it and click it open. Her gloved hand reached out to swing it open. As it came open she could see that inside was a conveyor belt. Her mind sifted through all the mechanics that were associated with what was inside the vault. She found that there was an intricate series of electronics that brought a safety deposit type box up from the corridors beneath them. No human could get down there, but she thought that Umbra might be able to manage it.

She didn't want to risk him, though. Instead, she began to make the mechanics work, using her telekinetic skills to bring up the plexiglass box that held the world's largest diamond. A mechanical arm lifted the box out of it's storage space and set it on the conveyor belt. Then the wheels of the belt began to rotate, bringing the box toward them. At last it was there, on the end of the conveyor belt. Serena didn't think she'd ever seen anything so beautiful in her whole life. It glittered in the sparse light of the vault and she turned, grinning at her partners.

She turned back to the box and began to inspect it. Mag wouldn't be able to smash it or she might damage the diamond. She didn't think Umbra could get into it, and if he could she didn't think he'd be able to get out with the diamond. There was a combination lock that held the plexiglass in place. She focused her skills once more and began to tumble the lock. It clicked and fell off. Reaching forward, she tried to pull the top off. It was stuck fast. She frowned, furrowing her brows and tried again to pull it off. It must have been glued, too.

She managed to get it open sightly, but she couldn't get it all the way off. Turning to the small shadow mutant she posed the question. "Do you think you can get in there and get out without damaging the diamond?" She wasn't sure what else they could do. They could maybe take the plexiglass case and all and work on it when they got back to the ship, but it would be cumbersome and be a little too incriminating for her tastes.

Her eyes went to the ceiling of the vault as she heard a commotion above them. Something must have gone wrong. She turned back to the shadow mutant, anxious to speed their mission along before someone found out they were down there.

Pavla still felt dirty from his experiences of the night before even though he had gargled and scrubbed his entire body with scaulding water before falling asleep in the captain's massive bed.

That morning, the small mutant had dressed simply in loose-fitting sweatpants and plain t-shirt with slip-on shoes, none of which he would mind leaving behind. When he took on his shadow form, those clothes would be discarded and Pavla knew that during the heist he wouldnt necessarily have time to go back for them.

The beauty of the island was lost on the Romanian. Self-doubt had begun to eat at him, Drake's words repeating over and over in his head. His blue eyes stared unseeing on the trip to their outside post. Behind the palms he kept close to Nate, not allowing his eyes to stray in the direction of the large feral mutant who stood within the group.

The captain was far too focused on the excitement at hand to notice Pavla's actions and the shadow mutant was fine with that. This wasnt a play for attention, in fact, if it would not have called attention, he would have already been in his shadow form. The kind pat on the cheek which Nate gave to Drake, the friendly tone, made Pavla shiver but he managed a weak smile for the captain in response to the kiss that was planted on his lips by the handsome ice mutant.

Under his breath, Pavla whispered a soft blessing to keep evil away from the captain as he completed his duty, moving to keep others between the feral mutant and himself in the absense of Glacier.

The small mutant breathed a sigh of relief when Nate returned only to find that it was his turn to go. He gave a soft smile to the two girls he would be accompanying and followed. He wasnt nervous about the job, he had slipped in and out of places like this many times. He just felt distracted which wasnt good in these situations. He tried to shake off his thoughts and concentrate merely on the work.

The sight of the frozen guards made him shiver, remembering the feeling of being encased in ice. He couldnt help the slight sympathy he felt for the men but didnt let it slow him down as he stepped onto the elevator with his partners in crime.

Once they were downstairs, Pavla's mind was completely on the heist. The sight of Boomer ripping doors from their hinges and Grease Monkey easily starting such complex machinery was amazing to the small mutant. When asked to do his part, Pavla was ready. He nodded to Serena's question, eyes focused on the slim opening in the plexiglass box.

A blush was visible before the mutant turned to shadow, thinking of the state he would soon be in. His clothes crumpled to the floor as his shadow form emerged, slipping within the box through the small crack that Serena had created. Once completely within the box, Pavla wrapped his vaporous shape around the diamond before suddenly reverting to his corporeal self. With the sudden overload of matter within the small space, the plexiglass burst in all directions leaving Pavla's tiny body curled around the diamond, bare as the day he was born.

He whimpered at the pain that had assaulted his body as it found itself in so small a space but pushed it away as he stood with slight unsteadiness and held the diamond out to show the two. With a shy smile, he spoke, "I did good, no?"

[info]bengal
2008-03-23 08:39 pm UTC (link)
Once Boomer, Monkey and Umbra had hurried into the building, Glacier and Bengal followed to protect their backs and guard the elevators, the only entrances down to the vault they were robbing.

Moving into the building like a jungle cat stalking it's prey, Bengal noted with satisfaction the huge icicle that used to be the guard's station. "HAW! You really know how to do it right, mate!", he complimented Nate, smacking him on the back. Then he noticed the guard on the floor with his gun drawn; he grinned, his canines already grown long and sharp, "I see one slipped past ya and got a little special attention", he gave the ice covered guard a vicious kick, sending him sliding far down the corridor, "Bloody wanker!", he laughed. He laughed even louder when Nate gave him a quiet smile and shook his head.

Drake's voice took on a deep rumbling growl and a hint of joy as reenforcements poured through the portals at the end of the hallway. Tear-gas grenades were made instantly ineffective when encased in ice by Glacier, as wre the first wave of guards that rushed towards them, but hundreds were sent and they were on the move...much to Bengal's delight.

The feral mutant threw himself amongst the guards, shrugging off bullets and laser burns as his mutant power instantly healed the wounds just moments after they occured. He roared his disdain for their pathetic human condition as he snapped their weapons in half and threw them into the walls and each other. Their cries were pitiful as Bengal's claws and teeth ripped flesh and severed bone...many lost limbs littered the corridor and those trying to stand againstthe two mutants found uneven footing, tripping on the limbs of their comrades.

Trying not to freeze Bengal, Glacier put up a thick shield to block missiles and battered the guards with blast after blast of hard ice battering rams, knocking them unconscious. When Drake was clear to one side, he would freeze a good block of them and then return to his battering tecnique.

Bengal was in a frenzy...he hadn't had this much fun in a long time. He was spattered with blood and he knew what a frightening sight he must be...so he decided to up the ante...he picked up a severed leg to use as a club, "Come on, Fuckers! Line up! Take a number! The Grim Reaper has room for all of you!". His fangs and claws were coated with gore as was his uniform...his blond hair was streaked with red and his eyes were almost glowing amber.

"BENGAL! BENGAL!"...It was the captain trying to get through to him. "We've dispatched this bunch and I've thrown up a wall of ice about 5 feet thick to delay the next wave. Go down and get our three people and get them moving NOW!"

Drake dropped the severed leg and winked at Nate,"Aye Aye, Cap'n!", replied with a grin. Doing a handspring into the elevator, he went down to the vault corridor and opened the doors, popping his head out, "C'mon ladies!", he yelled, "time to move your oh so shapely bums...best hurry!". He smiled and the blood dripped from one of his fangs.

"Crystal clear." Alex replied to Nate give him a smirk and a mock salute. He still held onto his playful nature, even though they could all get hurt, captured, tortured, killed at any given point and time within the next hour.

Alex was fine, actually he was better than fine. For once the ever constantly moving mutant was still, hands loose at his sides as he watched his sister pace back and forth. He knew how nervous she was, he'd talked to her that morning, actually he'd made a point to go see her that morning just so he knew she'd be alright. He gave her a wink back, catching her shirt as she tossed it at him and began folding it. He tucked the small folded shirt into the belt of his uniform, and watched her as she trotted off in her puppy form. There was only one thing that was making Alex uncomfortable, and that was his uniform. His was dark blue, no extra strips of color in it though. It would catch the eye if he had a brighter color than that. This way people just saw a blur of blue, nothing more and they didn't try to follow it with their eyes.

Taking the binoculars from Nate he chuckled, "Isn't she though?" He watched her for a moment before handing them back to Nate. Alex knew his sister, and knew that if she'd really put her mind to it she could've gotten the diamond all on her own probably. It would've been a little difficult, and Niki would've been a nervous wreck but she could've done it.

Kesh was dispatched, then Nate went as well. Alex slid his gaze over to the other mutants remaining. He could see the nervousness written all over Mag's face, and he wished he could do something, anything, to ease her mind. There wasn't anything he could do really, and he knew she'd be ok. His eyes skimmed over everyone in the group slowly.

As Nate returned Alex gave a nod to him, and let out a sigh as Nate told Boomer, Monkey and Umbra to head out. He gave Mag a smile as her fingers made contact with his. He squeezed her fingers lightly back, giving her a wink. He knew she'd be just fine.

It wasn't too much longer before he was alone behind the palm trees. Rolling his shoulders, he took a deep breath and started stretching. It wouldn't do any good to go in stiff, and like Nate said he needed to keep his feet nimble. He shifted his weight from foot to foot, humming lightly under his breath as he waited to make his move. He was Hermes as he swiftly made his way to the doors that Nate had pointed out. Come on, come on... He thought as he heard the ruckus inside. He moved constantly, waiting on Umbra to bring the diamond out to him.

Cameras were still flashing, even with everything that was going on inside. Nikita could tell when the generator went down. There was a very subtle change just right inside the foyer of the hotel since the front was nothing but glass. With the sun shining brightly into the foyer unless someone looked really hard into the hotel they wouldn't notice the people behind the front desk looking confused and bewildered. Then again there were cameras flashing in front of Nikita, and she could barely see it.

De Vries was milking the shots with Nikita for all it was worth, and Nikita never once stopped looking as cute as she possibly could.

"Come on De Vries, the puppy needs a little ice!" A photographer called from the crowd, lowering his camera only a degree.

The publicist's brows rose a degree, and he stepped over to De Vries. "They're right. You'd hate to be seen with an animal that didn't fully reflect on your tastes." He murmured to De Vries, and Nikita canted her head to the side as she looked up at the man.

Rolling his eyes, De Vries handed Nikita off to the publicist and smirked a little at the disgusted look on the man's face. He undid a rather large, and rather expensive diamond tennis bracelet from around his wrist. "You want the puppy to have a little ice? Here, you go then." He held up the bracelet before draping it over Nikita's neck, and hooking the clasp.

Nikita smirked mentally, this was just icing on the cake. Now how could she get out with the new 'collar' that had been given to her?

De Vries took Nikita back, cradling her in the crook of his arm. "Well, I suppose that you belong to me now. What to name you?" He pursed his lips, running his free hand over her head.

You call me nothing, nothing at all. I'm so going to bite you once I get the clearance to get out of here. She thought to herself, but outwardly she canted her head to the side as he talked to her and perked her ears forward.

Then there was a commotion inside the building, Nikita could barely hear it over the yells from the paparazzi and the general onlookers. She could only pray that no one else heard it in the small group. So she wriggled in De Vries arms, as he chuckled and shifted so he could pose for more pictures with her.

She kept her eyes on the two bodyguards, watching them intently as one placed his fingertips over his ear and listened to the bud that was in his ear. She whimpered, shifting again and nudged under De Vries chin. She didn't know how much longer she could keep it up if the bodyguards decided to move De Vries out. She just prayed that the rest of them hurried up, got out of there so she could escape the clutches of the man holding her. She really didn't want to be stuck in dog form for the rest of her life. Then again she'd have a very nice life to look forward to if she didn't manage to get out of it in time.

Mentally she rolled her eyes at herself, keeping up the charade for the time being. She knew though, that it wasn't going to last much longer, and she was prepared to do whatever she had to do to get away from De Vries.

"STOP RIGHT THERE" was yelled out as Aegis was starting to open the double doors. 'Dammit, knew that this was going too easy' "HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEAD, DOWN ON YOUR KNEES.... NOW!" Screamed the voice. How many were there... hard to tell, at least three though judging by the flashlights. Aegis paused in thought for a moment then reluctantly complied, he put his hands behind his head and dropped to a single knee. He closed his eyes, concentrating, trying to place their distance to him. They were advancing, slowly, carefully. Patience, wait for the moment. He let out a slow controlled breath, he legs tightened and tensed beneath him. Then right as the guards stepped close enough he sprung back hard as he could against them.

The middle guard was knocked to his back and the guard on either side battered against the walls. Aegis rolled to his knees then up onto his feet. Kesh wasn't the strongest guy and sure couldn't hit like Mag. But, his shield was hard as steel and made his punches feel like a blow from a baseball bat. A fast shielded fist smashed the center guards face back onto the deck, he wouldn't be getting up anytime soon. The guard to Aegis right dashed in to try to subdue the mutant. But the guard got too close and left his arms vulnerable. Kesh grabbed the outstretched arm and yanked the man down the the ground, a quick roll about the guards body preceded a loud *POP*, the separation of a joint and fracture of the arm.

While Aegis was so intent on submitting the right guard, the one to the left was left with time to recover and draw his weapon. The shot knocked Aegis back and away from the downed guard, but not before the damage was done. Aegis cried out in pain, but the bullet ricocheted off this shield. Still... hurt, bad. He wasn't sure which fueled his anger more, the pain, or the fact he had let himself get shot. A dark grin curved his lips as the guards face grew grim with the realization a gunshot hadn't phased the mutant before him. Aegis regained his foot and stood menacingly then rushed the guard, slamming into his and wailing punch after punch into the guards nose. He did stop, the guard had. The body was slumped lifelessly against the corridor wall but Aegis kept punching until he felt no more solid bone. He drew back, panting, angry his shield glowing red and blood dripping free from his fists. All the years, all the pain... this was his outlet.

He flung the last of the blood from his hand and headed back to the double doors and opened them. Just down the hall was more of the crew. Out of sight, but he could feel them. He could feel Serena, no mistaking her. He ran down the hallway, following the increasing sensation until the crew was in sight. "Status?" As he came to a hault. He looked between the crew, they seemed un-harmed and he was intent to keep them that way. After they reported back the situation, he faced back down the hallway to head off whatever may come. He was Aegis, the machine, the wall, the shield. Nothing would get past him.

Just as Bengal led Boomer, Monkey and Umbra out of the elevator, Aegis arrived, all business and asking for the status...Nate loved that about him.
"Glad to have you with us, Aegis. Good job, everyone. Okay, listen up...the guards are contained for now,but i don't think that will...", a huge boom sounded,"...last for long. Let's haul ass! Umbra, get that diamond to Hermes", the ice wall that Glacier had erected started to to tumble, "...those of you who want to hitch a ride on my ice wave say so now...let's go people!". They ran as heavily armed guards and vehicles burstthrough the remainder of the ice wall and barreled down the hall towards them.

Outside, Glacier poured out his power into a wave of ice, taking those who chose to ride with him, forming a box at the top to hold them in...the wave shot forward, with the vehicles close behind. The vehicles resembled hi-tech armored dune buggies. Nate squinted his eyes and looked back as he noted a pale blue light comeing from the front of one of the vehicles, "Damn them! Bloody bastards have mutant detectors mounted on those vehicles!".

"HOLD TIGHT!", Glacier yelled as he jerked his wave of ice hard to the right to avoid a missle headed straight for them; debris from the palm tree that the missle obliterated showered them, but they were unharmed other than that.
Taking a deep breath, he concentrated and increased his power and they began to go faster...then more vehicles appeared around a corner coming from their right. "Fuckers are trying to cut us off. They think we won't go onto the beach...well, we have to...dammit"

Entering onto the beach, the mutants caused quite a stir, people pointed, jumped back, ran away, ran after them, laughed, screamed...Glacier had an idea...forming a bullhorn out of ice, he announced, as they passed, "Come one come all, to De Vries Diamond Head Hotel and Casino Complex Grande Opening! Free food and drinks and complimentary gifts to the first 5,000 guests!". That's when the real rampage started. the beach began to empty towards the De Vries Complex, giving them more room to move, but the vehicles also had more room...again a missle came flying, but not at them...it just missed a boy running with a surfboard. Glacier veered towards the boy, dipped the wave down and unceremoniously scooped the boy up.

"Hey, Dude! What the Fu...", the boy started

"Sorry, Cody", Glacier interrupted, "You've just been profiled by a mutant detector, mate. Not only are you now on file as a mutant, but you are catalogged as a member of an international thieves guild. The only safe place for you is with us".

"But..."

"You can call your mom and dad when we get on the ship", the captain soothed. He knew the boy feltfoolish being held over his shoulder but he had no time to rearrange him at the moment.

Cody had changed. His day with Nikita had started him thinking about his future…he didn’t want to be a boy with no responsibilities anymore…he wanted to be a young man.

The warmth of the sun on his skin reminded him of her touch on his arms, his chest, his cheek…Cody smiled in remembrance. He brushed thick, sun-streaked brown hair out of his eyes and ran out into the surf with his board. As he paddled out into the beautiful blue-green water, he imagined Nikita as a mermaid, her bare breasts circling just out of reach, taunting him. “Dude, you’ve got it bad!”, he told himself as sat up on his board to wait for a good wave.

After several good rides, Cody decided he was hungry, “Time to head in and grab a bit of grindage, Brah”, he informed a passing seagull.

Running up the beach, he heard a lot of commotion and people were running everywhere. That’s when he saw the wave of ice rolling down the beach and the vehicles in pursuit not too far behind. That’s also when the front of his surfboard was blown off by a small missile. Cody threw his arms up to protect his eyes from the flying debris and when he looked again the wave was right on top of him and an iced over Captain Nate was scooping him up.

“Hey, Dude! What the Fu…”, Cody protested, being thrown over the big man’s shoulder.

The Mutant captain apologized and explained to Cody that he had not only been identified as a mutant, but cataloged as an international thief and would have to come with them. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad…he’d at least be with Nikita, right?

“Captain…Captain! I can’t arrive over your shoulder like a sack of potatoes!”, Cody worried, his fear that Nikita would see him unspoken but obvious.

“Ease yourself down, Cody. I have to concentrate on this wave. Get to the box behind me with the others”, Nate explained.

Cody being lithe and athletic easily did as instructed without incident and then had a good look at the vehicles in pursuit, “I’ve never used my powers on anyone before, but they’re asking for it”, he decided, spotting the vehicles with the missile launchers mounted on them. Drawing inward on his abilities, Cody created a sphere about the size of a basketball and took aim at the closest vehicle. Using both hands, he hurled the iridescent sphere at the armored dune buggy and, without the slightest sound, a hole appeared in the front of the vehicle…the exact size of the sphere…right in the middle of the engine! The lead vehicle came to a dead stop causing the vehicle behind it to ram into it and flip over, flying up into the air…landing on the beach with a crunch.

Glacier turned in disbelief, “Crikey! I didn’t know you could do that! Keep doing that!”

So, Cody, or Hex, as he informed them his mutant codename was, continued to lob spheres off of Glaciers ice wave as they made good their escape.

As Pavla worked and made the box burst, Boomer gathered his clothes, no sense in leaving a mess behind. She smiled a little at his question. "Better than me," she answered while she gave him a wink. Chaos was starting. Being a little on edge during something like this was nothing to Boomer. But when Bengal showed up, bloody and...being himself, she tried hard not to hit him to see if the blood would shake off.

Sighing as they ran she glanced over at Aegis, making sure he was ok and didn't need to be hauled out of there. Of course Bengal was fine, making that comment about asses. She have to make sure she got some baggier clothes next time they landed. Mag was sure that Alex wouldn't mind that. Moving when directed without a second thought, and keeping her limited human senses peeled for anything that might come at her or those near her, Boomer was strictly business. For right now, all that mattered was getting all their people out of there.

Mag would freely admit that ice as not her most favorite luxury. As she held on to whatever she could, she made sure the rest were staying put in the ice box. If they died at least they would be well preserved? Rolling her eyes at herself she kept her eyes on the dune buggies until Nate pulled someone up into the box. Blinking she looked at the boy, raising a brow she then smiled at him. He was already one of the team destroying their enemies. She ducked low, keeping tight hold, and really not liking the whole situation. Debris from this and debris from that, again she wished she had a little more than strength to aide her and her companions. Her hands were already bruised and hurting ever so badly from cracking steel. Not to mention her gloves were a bit worse for wear, she could feel the ice sticking to hr skin through them.

As soon as they neared the ship, Mag dismounted from the ice box and made a slight face. She stayed by the side of the ship, she wanted to see Alex and Nikita, they'd be cutting it close she knew. If they needed help up she'd be there to haul them over. She patted the new guy on the back, "Good job Hex, I'll make sure to fix your favorite dessert tonight hmm?" She gave him a wink, glancing around yet again to make sure everyone was alright. She wasn't paranoid at all. Oh no. She kept low, making sure there was plenty of ship in between her and any oncoming shots.

She only wished that there were cannonballs or something on board so she could hurl them at the oncoming danger. That would put a good stop to them, nearly as good as Hex's trick.

"You did great, Umbra." Serena winked and looked around. Boomer held Umbra's clothes in her hands as the trio stood amidst the shards of plexiglass and bent steel. "Let's get out of here." They moved toward the exit and met up there with Aegis, Bengal and Glacier. She smiled at Kesh, thankful that he was alright after dismantling the generator. Bengal was pretty awful looking, but it didn't seem to be his own blood, she couldn't see any wounds.

She jumped into the ice cart along with everyone else, watching as Alex took off with the diamond. She wished that she also had super speed, just so she could get back to the ship and get it ready to go. It was as ready as it could be, she knew, and it wouldn't take much to get it up once she was on board. As she turned in the ice box and saw the dune buggies following them, the shots fired and the curse from glacier about the mutant detectors, Monkey thought it would be a good time to try out her shield.

She didn't want to use too much energy if she didn't have to, but she thought that it wouldn't take too much to get a shield up. She held out her hands and threw up an energy shield behind their ice box. It deflected the bullets they were shooting and kept their buggies from getting too close. It didn't prevent anyone from throwing things through it, though. So when Hex arrived unexpectedly in the ice box, his spheres went through the shield to take out what they could.

As they arrived back at the ship, she hauled ass aboard and then into the control room. She shouted into the intercom that they should prepare to take off and poured her energy into the orbs. It didn't need much, but as soon as she got the word, the ship began to lift into the air, high above the range of the task force's measly artillery.
