Who: Kilroy and May (The Hatter and The March Hare) When: Monday afternoon~ TEA TIME :D Where: May's garden. What: It's the Unbirthday party they have EVERY YEAR. Rated: idk idk. C for cute?
May had been preparing. Sure, Kilroy had been sick, and she had tried to take care of him the best she could without being side-tracked by something shiny, but this was the day of their annual Unbirthday party. It could be argued that they could have the unbirthday party any day of the year that wasn't their birthday, but why be bothered? This was more an excuse for them to have a party, all to themselves, as that was how life should be. One big party. And no one else was invited.
Now, to say that May had gone overboard would have been what a normal person viewing the scene would have said. To May, it hadn't been enough. It would never be enough for Kilroy. She could give him the world, and she still wouldn't think that she had done enough. All she wanted to do was to make sure he knew how much she appreciated and just how happy she was when he was around. Their fight had really solidified that. She had been miserable and quiet, but once she went over to see him, no matter how awkward it might have been, everything was right with the world once more.
The worst part was that she had been practicing what she was going to say all night. As she decorated every, single, lastcupcake, she ran the scene over and over in her mind. She'd say it, he'd tell her he felt the same way, and then they would drive to Vegas, and then they would live happily ever after. For the record, this was the same thing she had been practicing for the two years prior. While she could make excuses, like the timing wasn't right, or something about Kurt, or even that Kilroy seemed to be interested in all of the other girls around him except for May, the only thing that had really held her back was that constant fear inside of her that she was going to be rejected or laughed at and then lose one of her best friends. She just didn't have the courage to put herself out on the chopping block like that. It wasn't in her nature.
Even as she wrapped allofKilroy'spresents, she couldn't help but know in her heart that she would never be able to say it physically, but everything she did could show him. If he just chose to actually look. Which he wouldn't, because he was more interested in the other girls. Which was why she never opened her mouth, and even worse, why she stayed with Kurt. It was a ridiculous dream, and she knew it, but CC could see it, which was why she said things like that to Kilroy, and if CC could see it, then Molly had to see it too, and then Lily, and then Irving, and then the whole damn school, and then Kilroy and it would just be a disaster. No. No, no. She had to make it seem like there was nothing there. She could do it. She could try, at any rate.
All of the windchimes were hung, and all of the tea had been brought out, and all of the cupcakes were done, along with all of the little sandwiches, and everything else they would be eating. All that was missing from the table was Kilroy. And then it hit her. Kilroy. What if he didn't come? What if he was still sort of mad at her? OH GOOD LORD SHE HADN'T INVITED HIM. He should have just known. It was unsaid. It was... going to be even more humiliating if he didn't come. She did all of this for him, and... no. No. She wasn't going to think about that. She was going to just call him. Call him and make sure he was on his way. Yes. That was it. Because she wasn't sure if he was waiting on an invitation. Certainly not because she needed to see him. That was never it.
May scrambled to pull out her phone and call Kilroy, but only managed to wind up dropping her phone three times before getting a handle on it to dial his number.
