Karen Angle sat alone in her hotel room in Orlando, killing time before her best friend, Jeremy Borash arrived. Her ex-husband Kurt was currently entertaining their daughter and would be for the rest of the day. She looked at her watch JB should be here any minute. She walked over to the dresser and adjusted her hair in the mirror. On the dresser was the bunch of plastic flowers than A.J had given her on at the Impact taping last night. She wasn’t sure why she’d kept them, it wasn’t like A.J had actually bought them, she just could bring herself to throw them away. The brunette sighed heavily, she was so unsure what exactly was going on with her and A.J at the moment, if there was anything going on at all. A knock at the door brought her out of her thoughts, she crossed the room quickly and yanked open the door, “I’m glad you’re here, I was getting bor…” she trailed off when she realised it wasn’t Jeremy at the door. Instead, there stood the man she was just thinking about, A.J Styles. He was dressed in his jeans and a black button down shirt which was slightly too big for him. Karen opened her mouth to speak but her breath caught in her throat and only a muffled sound came out.
A.J furrowed his brow, “Karen, are you okay?”
The brunette coughed quickly to clear her thought, “Yeah, just forgot to breathe there for a second.”
He smiled at her, “that might help, K.”
Karen sighed heavily, “yeah.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m positive, A.J. Was there something you wanted?”
“No, I was just passing. Thought I’d drop by and see how you are.”
“I’m fine,” Karen replied a little too quickly. “Just waiting for JB actually. We’re spending the day together.”
“Oh, right. I’ll get out of your hair. I guess I’ll see ya in a couple of weeks then.” He gave her a half smile, “bye.”
“Bye.” Karen gave him a smile wave as he walked away. She watched him walk down the hallway. Part of her wanted to call out to him, tell him to come back but the rest of her didn’t know what to say so she closed the door and said nothing. She leaned back against the wood and closed her eyes, “stupid, stupid.” Another knock on the door caused her to jump. Karen spun around and opened the door, “back again so soon, did you forge…” once again she trailed off when she didn’t see the person she was expecting.
JB made a face, “what are you talking about?”
“Sorry I thought you were someone else,” Karen replied honestly, unable to keep the disappointment out of her voice.
“Gee, Karen, try not to sound so disappointed. We are spending the day together right?”
Karen smiled, “of course we are. Come on in.”
