Belle knew that Eobard was not a good person by any standard definition. But she also knew that everyone deserved a chance. After all, Killian had been a rather awful person when she had first met him, and he had proven to be a good man at his core. She wasn't quite so naive as she had once been, and she would no longer give people as many chances as she had given Rumple, but she still had faith that people could change. Some just chose not to. She really did appreciate what he had done for her. Yes, he had gone about it the wrong way, and he had worried Eddie far more than she would have liked, but he had been trying to help and that meant something. So she had invited him to her apartment, both so he could see Gideon and so she could get to know him better. After all, he was, in a sense, Eddie's family. And Eddie was a wonderful man. And also, she felt like he could use someone who would not judge him. She had spent the morning baking, wanting something to keep her occupied while Gideon was sleeping. One good thing about having friends with magic was that healing after something like childbirth was much easier. That meant she was able to focus on Gideon and not worry so much about herself. She had never thought it was possible to love someone so much until she had held her son. Knowing he was healthy and safe meant everything to her. When the knock came to the door, she was holding Gideon in her arms, reading to him from Her Handsome Hero while the kettle was heating on the stove for tea. She wanted to share the book with him, the same way her mother had shared it with her. Setting it aside, she held her son close and stood up, making her way to the door. Seeing Eobard there, she smiled softly and stepped aside to allow him space. "Hello, Eobard," she said warmly. "Please, come in. I'm making tea, if you would like some. How are you, today." |
