My Mother went Christmas shopping today. The lines were very long, and her back and leg were really bothering her. She got into a conversation with the woman standing behind her in line, and Mom mentioned that one of the reasons she was so tired was that she was working two jobs like most people have to now-a-days to make ends meet.
Apparently the woman in front of my Mother heard this conversation. When Mom got up to the cashier the cashier told Mom her purchases had already been paid in full. The woman ahead of her had paid for Mom's purchases ($50 worth) and told the cashier to tell Mom "Merry Christmas and God Bless".
Mom was so surprised by the unexpected generosity from a total stranger that she broke down in tears in the store, and cried all the way home.
No idea who her unexpected benefactor was, so no way to thank her. Mom said she plans on paying it forward, since she knows of two people who could use extra money this Christmas, and plans on anonymously sending each $25.

Crazy news...
Good: Went to the endocrinologist today, found out I've lost 11 pounds in the last 3 months (go me).
Crazy: Mom has totally snapped and is wondering around the house calling Dad & I f*&#ing morons and ungrateful wretches. I have no idea why, but even if I did know why, I'm sure it wouldn't make any sense.
While I'm glad to hear my exercise and diet regimen is working well I am rather pissed with the doctor. My appointment was for 3:30 p.m. I was right on time, but it was 4:15 p.m. before the nurse took me back to the exam room, and 5:10 p.m. before I saw the doctor. If there was another endocrinologist within 100 miles I'd probably switch doctors, but unfortunately I'm rather stuck.

While depression is a constant that I must fight, it has seemed really bad recently. That makes me fight harder to keep myself going, but it takes a toll. I find it hard to deal with some things and then I get frustrated and angry. Usually, this ends with something getting violently destroyed. This time, not so much. I am still in a funk, but I am working through it with my writing. Hopefully this will keep up and I can actually get something written for a change.
In the mean while, I am tired and need sleep. Will get some soon.

So I didn't write my Dean/Cas Xmas story. It just wasn't coming and my headspace is not very good right now. I could have punched out a 1000 words, but I doubt that it would have made any sense, even with help :(
So I let the mods know (they didn't answer back, is it possible they didn't get my e-mail? Eeeeeeep) and then the fest started posting.... the first story? The first story was for me :(

1. My rabbit is totally awesome. Except when it's raining I have been spending a few hours outside with him, lying in the sun reading or cuddling him. A few days ago he climbed all over my copy of Watership Down when I was reading it in front of the open fence door and he got curious.
2. My sister's been dragging me out of the house - to the pub, natch. Sundays is 3-for-2 tap pints so she and a friend get their Guinness and I have a Speights and we're quite ridiculous.
3. My internet activity is totally old school. I'm playing my MUD again, I have a level 15 myrmidon in the temple of order, law and balance (warrior-mage, essentially, and in the later levels they can work with runes, she's badarse) and a level 10 cleric in the nature temple. She isn't quite as badarse, but she's no slouch either. ALSO I'm totally playing virtual pet sites again. I'm mostly active on http://www.wajas.com and http://www.khimeros.com. This is actually good because most of the sites have games and between them there's like mahjong, solitaire mancala, mastermind, minesweeper and that sliding-tile game where you have to rearrange them to form a picture in a 4x4 grid with 15 tiles. (Khimeros also has sudoku but it doesn't give you pretend money.) So they're all thinking games, and they're fun.
4. Fandom on LJ consists of me usually being very laidback until humanity sucks and I get rage. So, pretty much normal. I write things or put together video clips to music and people tell me they like them. It's a good arrangement.
5. Speaking of, I have rage.
6. I'm on the waiting list for the anxiety outpatients unit. The waiting list is nine months long. Story to be updated in September.
7. Animals are pretty damn awesome.

Oh, god. The Save Ianto peeps came out with a 400 page report. In itself not at all bad - in fact, I'm very much for the 'consumers' of entertainment media having more say in work that is supposed to be for them and for being vocal when treated badly. I fully support the charity campaigns and donated to the Lluest Pony myself. However, the terrible statistical train wreck, the misogyny regarding Gwen, and the generally poor scholarship makes me cringe so hard that I can't read the report.
Which might be a problem since they evidently quote quite a few LJ people without much in the way of permission or credit. Since I wrote a teal deer or two about it, it's entirely possible it's in there. Also, something I don't mind - LJ is a public forum, not a private diary. I just ... would prefer that my name not get mixed up in something so poorly done.
Time to break out the vodka and a few fail!bingo cards!
Or write porn ... hmm.

Finally! A day of lazing about in the house doing nothing! Man, you can't imagine how much I needed this!
An honest to god day off (well it's a religious holiday, so it's a day off that I don't usually have since am working at the video store on Saturdays), without me being sick or having a family crises!
It's also my dad's nameday and normally today would be crazy with cleaning, baking, cooking and visitors coming, but since we are in mourning not one of those things is happening with the exception of my mother's roast for lunch. Can't say that I miss the craziness though.
Am watching the "Return of the King" extras (as I usually do) and waffling around in Amazon (not really buying anything, just looking), there's a holding place available for LOTR on blu-ray already! Even though Peter Jackson said that it might not come until after the Hobbit. I've been thinking about a blu-ray machine, but they're still expensive and not a lot of movies come available on that (well, not in Greece that is), so it's pointless to buy it now. Am guessing I'll buy the machine as soon as LOTR comes out as blu-ray *nods* After all, am gonna need a blu-ray drive for the laptop as well, which is gonna be on my next machine.
Okay, I'll stop the waffling now, go have lunch with the family and then come back and write! WOOT!
(random question of the day: Does Apple has Macbooks with blu-ray drives? Anyone?)

It's that time of the year. This is the fourth year that our troop began contributing to the Girl Scout Cookies for Our Troops program. People can buy cookies for our troops oversees, and the NY Council has an arrangement with the Armed Forces to have the cookies delivered throughout the world (most are currently going in Iraq and Afghanistan).
If you'd like to contribute, each box is $3.50. As I've said last year I don't have paypal, but I can provide an addy if you are out of the US (Paypal charges a fee, so please check with them). If you are in the US, the council will accept checks for less than $50 and money orders. They should be made out to The Girl Scout Council of Greater New York. This is considered a charitable donation. If you are interested, leave a comment, and I will give you my name and address.
I must have all the money by January 15, 2010.
Thank you to everyone that had helped us for the past two years. My daughters sent 100 boxes last year thanks to all of your help. I know times are not great, but anything you can spare for a good cause is appreciated.

For the past 2 days I have had plenty of both. First, my used phone has been getting texts from these idiot tweens who have absolutely no business owning a phone. Yes, they are layover from when my nephew had the phone. It's absolutely frustrating when they believe you are not you, but him. Tonight I ended with Fuck Off to this latest moron. After 10 texts of me telling her to stop texting me, I am not him, she still thought I was him. Switching to my old tween vernacular, Brain Dead Much? What-ever! And to date myself, poof, brick wall!
The cold weather. Ah, the cold weather! Forget what they said in the news, the winds here have been a constant 30+, with gusts of over 60 mph. My family has lived through 3 hurricanes that I can remember, we can judge winds. The trampoline, yeah, it flew on top of the barn, through the walnut tree. It was stuck there, until the wind blew it out, taking several limbs with it. Mum and dad finally got it wrangled to the barn and tied down. Our decks, trees, yard, driveway, everything has nice ice patches wherever the wind could find purchase.
Absolutely lovely! *Snorts* NOT!
You have no idea how much I hate having to switch to twit mode. Martha Stewart give me strength!

So, kronos999 and I were in our basement today watching our stock market course when, out of nowhere, the big glass light shade on the ceiling light fell down. Right onto my lap. It was kind of surprising, and kind of started to hurt as the heat of the shade penetrated my clothes, but kronos999 rescued me by picking it up with a blanket from my lap (diurnal_lee's suggestion). We went on to continue watching out class and everything seemed ok. Until I opened my laptop, which had been on my lap.
I guess it caught some of the blow since the screen is completely cracked. About 2/3 of it is completely white and grey with no picture, and I have to big cracks that go completely across the screen. One of them has already started flowering out black.
This pretty much kills my laptop. :(
Good thing I got my new, vidding computer yesterday.
I'm just thankful it didn't hit me on the head, since I'm pretty sure that would have meant a trip to the hospital. On the bus, in my pj pants and without a bra.
Damn, I think it's setting in slowly that I've lost my lap top. I might cry later.
