Who: Tohma and Ryuichi When: Jan 2, late night What: First aid! Rating: PG (for blood and swearing)
Tohma sat on his laptop typing away when he got a message in his inbox. Ah! Ryuichi had responded! How did he let himself get so low as to not even bother picking up the phone anymore? What a sad world. He leaned back in his chair and read his message. "EH!?" it wasn't often that things shocked Seguchi Tohma but this.. This was big. He pulled out his cell phone immediately and punched in Ryuichi's number. What the hell was going on?!
Ryuichi heard his cellie playing the ringtone he had set for Tohma. Taking off the shirt he was wearing, he let it ring until the last ring before the voice mail was about to pick up. "Hai Tohma. I'm here," he said in a somber voice.
Tohma had nearly lost hope on Ryuichi's phone before the other finally picked up. he must have been busy. "Ryuichi, What's going on?" he asked in an almost panicked tone. "Something's getting to you and I'm getting worried... What's happening?"
"Nothing. That's the problem. Nothing." He said, thowing the shirt into a pile on the floor and picking up the heavy weight. Positioning it carefully, he let it drop, smiling at the smashing sound it made as it hit the expensive vase. "Why? Is there something going on?"
Ryuichi.. really didn't sound like himself... Something was definitely wrong. "...You're upset," he stated. There was no question behind it. He heard something smash in the background and winced. It sounded expensive... "I want to help you through this... Won't you let me?"
Picking up the weight. he moved over to the second vase. "Help me through what? Boredom? Lonliness? Why? Unless you can find me a lover or at least someone to hang out with, there's nothing to do. I've had writer's block for months." He released the weight a second time and let it drop, smiling as the glass flew everywhere, making tiny cuts in his leg as the crystal flew.
he winced each time something smashed. "Ryuichi... Please. Something's not right here. Let me.. at least try?" he asked, smiling softly, as though Ryuichi could see it through the phone. "Come over. We'll talk, jam, have a couple drinks. It'll be fun..." his smile faded into a concerned frown. "..Please?"
"I think it might be best if you came over here, Tohma. Wouldn't want to bleed all over your expensive Oriental rugs, you know." He moved to the third vase, the weight hovering as he positioned it overtop of it before letting go. The weight caught the vase wrong and sent a piece flying, gouging a chunk out of Ryuichi's leg. Hissing, he sat onthe wood floor and reached for his shirt. "Oops," he said, dropping the phone.
The sound of the phone hitting the floor made a loud noise and made Tohma recoil. "Ryuichi! What happened?! are you okay?" He thought he heard him making some kind of noise far away. "What happened?"
Grabbng his shirt, the rock star wrapped it around his calf, hissing in pain as the shirt entered the wound. "Nothing, just a little miscalculation," he said as he tried to staunch the flow of blood from the wound. "I'll be fine. Now, what did you want to talk about?" he asked, hitting the speakerphone button.
He frowned and sat upright. "...I should come over. I'm worried about you. And maybe... help you clean up. Sounds like you're making a mess over there.."
"Don't worry about it. Its why I have a maid. Now, Tohma, what did you need from me?" he asked as he finally managed to get the blood to slow.
"I want to see you, of course. We haven't seen one another nearly as much as we need to. And.. you're having a fit and need someone there." He knew Ryuichi.. especially when he got like this. "I'll bring over a bottle of champagne. Just relax. I'll be over soon."
"I'm not having a fit. I was playing a game, nothing more. Nothing to worry your pretty little head over, Tohma. Don't you have some papers to sign or someone to fire?" Ryuichi hissed again as he attempted to stand on the injured leg and instead stepped on a piece of crystal, cutting his foot in the process.
he winced at the words and sighed. "You're not changing my mind, Ryuichi. I have a key, so don't bother locking the door. I'll see you soon." He snapped his phone shut and got himself ready to go.
Ryuichi sat back down as he put his free hand upon the injury to his foot. "Fuck. I didn't want him to see this. I still have 8 vases to go," he said as the gouge in his leg started bleeding again at the movement he made flexing his injured foot.
As if tohma cared about Ryuichi's little game. Frankly, he didn't. He just hurried as fast as he could over to Ryuichi's house and was there within half an hour, carrying a bottle of champagne, as promised. He rang the doorbell, mostly as a courtesy to let him know that he was there before letting himself in. "Ryuichi?"
"I'm here," the vocalist yelled as he turned on the water in the bathtub. A trail of blood and bloody footprints showed where he had managed to make his way to the tub.
Tohma heard where Ryuichi's voice had come from and followed it up until he saw the blood. Oh god. he was hurt. "Ryuichi!" He hurried, following the footprints to the bathroom where Ryuichi was, "You're hurt! What happened?!"
"I cut myself. Nothing to worry about," he replied as the water in the tub turned red with the placement of his foot and calf. "So, can I have a shot of that booze? I could use something to drink."
"And you think that's going to stop me from worrying..." he said, setting the bottle down by the door and sighing, pulling off his coat and depositing it on the back of the toilet. "No. Alcohol will thin your blood and make you bleed out. I could get you some juice or milk if you have it.."
"Hn..." He said, leaning against the wall, his skin pale. "Actually, I think that I may need a stitch or two. Still have that doctor on retainer, the one that you pay to keep her mouth shut?" Ryuichi asked, his normally sparkly blue eyes dull and nearly black.
Tohma sighed heavily as he watched Ryuichi in the water. "Is the water at least cold..?" He asked, trying to think of anything he could do to help him. Unfortunately, his first aid training was very minimal.
"No...hot. Why?" the mossy-haired man asked as he bagan to slump. "I'm not feeling so hot anymore," he said in a low voice as he slid down the wall, his twice-injured leg still in the red water.
"Ryuichi..." He sighed heavily and rolled up his sleeve so he could drain the water. "We have to put a tourniquet on that and take you to the hospital.." He looked up to his face for a moment. "...I'm half-tempted to think you did this on purpose..."
Ryuichi gazed at the blond, a wan smile on his face. "Why would I slice myself up on purpose, To-chan? I was playing a game, and a piece of crystal flew up and cut me, and I stepped on another one trying to find a bandage." he said, before his eyes rolled back and he passed out.
"Ryuichi!!" He cried, pulling out his phone to call for an ambulance. "Ryuichi! Wake up!" the cut must have been deep... With his phone against his shoulder, he groaned as he tried to pull the unconscious man from the water but with little avail
"Toh...?" Ryuichi said in response to his name being called before passing out once more at the sight of his own blood.
God dammit... He whined and turned the phone to speakerphone, setting it down so he could properly pull him out of the water. When the operator picked up, he tried, as calmly as humanly possible to tell the situation. Unfortunately, he was a little flustered at the moment and freaking out just a bit. Tohma talked to the operator for a long time before deciding that they would be staying at Ryuichi's place. He really didn't want the publicity at this time... It wasn't necessary. He was sure Ryuichi was fine, especially after the paramedics arrived to take care of him but... still. He wanted to wait for a diagnosis before he contacted anyone about what happened.
Ryuichi awoke to strange faces hovering over his. "Tohma? TOHMA?!" he cried, sitting up and looking around desperately for his best friend, panic-stricken.
Tohma stood near the back of the room to let the men work. "I'm here, Ryuichi. Please don't worry. They're just about done patching you up... Please calm down" Ryuichi: "Did...did you call the doctor? I just needed a couple stitches.." he said as he watched his leg get bandged."
"Don't worry. you'll be staying at home." He sighed softly and ran a hand through his hair. He'd been sweating bullets since he arrived and was quite hot at this point. "Just relax and stay in bed. We'll take care of everything else.."
"Okay Tohma," he said, laying back as the soothing voice of his oldest friend told him what to do.
Tohma sighed softly as he heard Ryuichi relax. "I'm.. going to go clean the mess up. You'll stay put, won't you?" he asked. Not that the paramedics would let him get up anyway.
"Okay Tohma," he replied as he watched them finish with his leg and move onto the foot with their bandaging.
The blond shook his head softly as he exited, moving to find a broom and dustpan so he could at least get the shards off of the floor to start. He wasn't planning on leaving tonight at least.
Sitting up as his leg was finished, Ryuchi made sure to keep his bad right leg propped up on the pillows. Thanking the pair as they left, he yelled to Tohma, "I can call the maid, she'll come here to clean it up now. You shouldn't have to do that, To-chan! come keep me company, or I'll come join you!"
"I'd prefer minimal people in and out, Ryuichi," he called back. But at the vocalist's threat, he sighed and set the dustpan and broom aside. He'd finish later. He stepped back into the room and crouched down next to the bed. "How do you feel?"
"Fine. Its just that it was a bit more blood coming from me than I'm use to seeing, that's all." He shrugged.l A bit of excitement in an otherwise dull existance...
"We shouldn't really be seeing any blood coming from you at all, Ryuichi," Tohma lightly scolded, folding his arms on the mattress and resting his chin on them to watch him. "You gave me quite a scare there..."
"Gomen, To-chan. I was...playing, and I lost, bigtime. That's all." he shrugged and looked away.
"I see that." He frowned, tilting his head, "You.. need to find less destructive games to play, Ryuichi..." He said with a frown. He looked around. "Ah.. Where's Kumagoro?"
"I dunno. Around. He didn't like this game. He doesnt' like the blood," Ryuichi said, explaining the absence of his oldest non-human friend.
"I don't think anyone likes the blood, Ryuichi." He got up from the floor, "Where did you leave him? I'm sure he'd like to wish you well."
"Last time I saw him he was getting a snack in the kitchen. Try checking there," he suggested.
he nodded. "Very well. Is there anything you need while I'm down there? Some water? a snack?"
"Juice would be nice...and a big glass of it. I can go get it," he said, sitting up and turning around on the bed, careful in how he moved his leg.
"Ah!! Ryuichi no! Stay in bed, please!" Tohma insisted. "I can't risk you doing anything to aggravate your injury!" He smiled nervously. "Please... just stay here? I'll be back quickly."
"Its only two small cuts, To-chan," he said, sighing and getting back into bed.
"I don't care. It was serious enough to make you pass out. That's enough of an excuse for me." He smiled sadly at him and reached down to stroke Ryuichi's hair. "Please. for me?"
Closing his eyes at the touch of Tohma's hand, Ryuichi relaxed for the first time all night. "Okay Tohma," he said, meaning it for the first time all evening before opening them and gazing up at the blond.
Tohma smiled sweetly down at Ryuichi and leaned down to gently place a kiss on his forehead. "I'll be back soon. I'm sure Kumagoro will be happy to know you're all right." he chuckled softly and turned to go get Ryuichi his juice.
Closing his eyes again, Ryuichi relived the touch of Tohma's lips on his forehead. "I miss the touch of another person who loves me," he murmured to no one in particular as he waited for his drink.
Tohma heard him mumble something, but didn't stop to inquire as to what it was. He returned a few minutes later with a large glass of juice with ice cubes and a straw and a lonesome pink bunny who'd been left on the kitchen floor in front of the refrigerator. "There we are. I think he missed you, Ryuichi."
Turning away from the plushie, Ryuichi sighed and gazed out the window. "I don't want Kuma right now, Tohma. I dont want him to see me like this. Put him in the living room, willya?" he asked, his voice sounding like that of a child's.
Tohma blinked at Ryuichi. He didn't want Kumagoro? .. Something really must have been wrong. "..Certainly." He set the glass down on the bedside table and left to deposit the rabbit in the living room as he was told, all while contemplating what might have been going on in Ryuichi's head.
Ryuichi picked up the glass in both hands and drank from it like a little boy. Draining it, he put it back on the table and waited for Tohma to return.
Tohma returned promptly and smiled over at Ryuichi. "he's snug on the couch. Is there anything else you needed me to do while I'm up?"
"No, To-chan. Come to bed. I'll be good, I promise." he said, raising up the covers, the little boy's voice and wide eyes showing lonliness and fear as he waited for an answer.
He eyed Ryuichi for a moment with the promise that he'd be good and nodded, deciding to at least lay with him for a bit. It couldn't hurt, right? He climbed into the bed and smiled at him. "I couldn't leave you alone like that."
Pulling down the blanket to cover them both, Ryuich snuggled close to the blond Shacho as he closed his eyes. "Tohma? I hate not being able to write," he said sadly.
Tohma put an arm around Ryuichi to pull him closer. "It'll come to you," he said, "You just need the right kind of motivation. I've been working on some new tunes... maybe that'll help you to listen?"
"Only if you help me to the piano. I don't wanna hear you play from so many rooms away," Ryuichi said, his voice still that of a little boy's>
"We'll do it another day when you're feeling better. How's that sound?" He smiled sweetly at his friend and sighed. "But I think for now you need to sleep."
Pulling Tohma close to himself, Ryuichi sighed as he snuggled closer. "Okay Tohma, if you say so," he muttered as he drifted off to sleep, his arms tight around the blond.
