Death Note (Light/various) [week 7 - prompt 3]
Title: Preferences Author: Cadence Rating: NC-17 Warnings: Het. Slash. Not romance. Spoilers for pretty much the whole series. Word Count: 500 Summary: It's easy for Light to lie with his voice, his penned words, even both at once, but some things are not worth the chance of his body betraying him.
Light is so close to having everything. Months, days, any minute now all of his enemies will fall before him, and no one will be left to challenge his reign over the world. Things will be better then, he thinks. When he can afford to relax.
That it's not good now bothers him slightly, like the niggling itch of some forgotten fact waiting for the right cue to fall into its proper place.
Misa and Takada both worship him, in the very literal sense of the word. Misa in particular takes his every word as law, and she welcomes him home looking like a centerfold lingerie model – because she is a centerfold lingerie model, of course. And yet he finds himself wondering, when her tiny body moves under him on the nights when he can't pull away from her for work, how much longer she can possibly have to live, with her remaining lifespan quartered. She has really outlived her usefulness already.
Takada is more clever, and if it was most natural for their spoken meetings to lead to sex, that is what would have to happen. Fortunately, since he controls what they say, it doesn't. It's easy to lie with his voice, his penned words, even both at once, but he can't take the chance of his body making Takada suspect he doesn't care for her as much as he says.
He had begun to wonder, years ago, in a clinical way, if in fact he was simply not physically attracted to women. There were ways test if his preference lay with men, of course, but he had to avoid those which anyone else might find out about. It would be a stupid thing to risk the balance of his life on.
He could try fantasies, of course, but for a long time he had no interest. Mikami broke that trend. He was attractive and competent, and his worship went beyond anything Misa had ever considered. Light had known it, it was what he was working for, but there was nothing comparable to hearing himself addressed as God over the phone.
So out of curiosity late one night, as he strokes himself in the bathroom, Light finds himself bringing up Mikami's face and the sound of that voice. He could feel the blood pulse under his hand at the thought, so he continued as he brought himself to full hardness. Mikami would do anything he asked—would know what needed to be done before he asked. If they ever – and circumstances now meant it was impossible, but after the new world came it could happen – if they ever met in person, Light could probably have Mikami on his knees with a look.
The image of that – strong body, sharp mind, reduced to dark hair and a mouth around Light's cock as he looked down – is enough to bring Light to climax.
Light makes a decision not to think about the phantom sensation of cool metal around his wrist.
