Title: Getting Serious Author: Laylah Rating: worksafe Word Count: 200 Summary: "He seems like a nice guy, and I'm sure he's good for a tumble --"
"Oh, come on, Topaz says. "Are you serious?"
Jet folds his arms, arches an eyebrow just like Cobalt. "Why not?"
"Well, it's just --" Topaz shrugs, gestures helplessly. "He seems like a nice guy, and I'm sure he's good for a tumble --"
"In the screw you senseless way, sure," Onyx interjects, "but I'm not so sure about the backflip way."
"And you'd know if anyone would," Opal says, with way too much leer for the end of a Saturday night.
"But," Topaz goes on, because if you let yourself get steered off track every time somebody wants to toss in his opinion, you never get anywhere, "that doesn't make him a good choice for getting serious, does it? I mean, he's a mercenary. You'd wind up living out of some awful tavern while he went off and got into trouble that he might not be able to get back out of."
Jet snorts. "Better than yours," he says. "Yours is just the same, except he makes this face all the time." He grimaces disapprovingly.
Jasper smirks. "You both lose out," he says. "You just wish you had a pirate like mine."
