Final Fantasy XII (Basch, Noah) [week 5, prompt 4]
Title: Minding His Own Business
Author: Laylah
Rating: worksafe
Word Count: 200
Summary: if Noah gets there first he'll tell it all wrong.
"Mooooom!" Basch pushes through the door, running for the stairs, because if Noah gets there first he'll tell it all wrong. "Mom! Noah punched me!"
Noah, right on his heels, nearly trips on him on the way up the stairs. "I did not! And he punched me first!"
Upstairs their mother has her pen poised over a ledger, which should give them pause, and she raises an eyebrow like she's seeing the river mud they're dripping and not listening at all, but Basch can't help himself. "I was down by the river, minding my own business, and --"
"He was throwing rocks in the water, mom, and scaring all the fish --"
"I was not, but Noah --"
"I did ask him to leave me alone first, but he wasn't --"
The air hums taut and snaps, and both of them freeze, Stopped in their tracks. Their dad says their mom has more Green licenses than anyone else in Ronsenburg. She used to try Disable, until they figured out they could still knock each other down without using their hands. "I don't care who punched who first," she says. "You will clean this up, and behave, or you will both be Stopped until dinner."
